Great question, Sandy - allow us to help 🌸 We can confirm that the cells in the superficial or upper layers of skin, known as the epidermis, are constantly replacing themselves. This process of renewal is essentially exfoliation, or shedding, of the epidermis. However, the deeper layers of skin, called the dermis, do not go through the same cellular turnover and so do not replace themselves. Therefore, features of the skin that effect the dermis layer, such as deep scars, sun spots, skin tags, won't completely vanish over time.
