I tried being a morning person for over a year. I went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 5am everyday. I realized I was able to be very productive in tasks such as paperwork, e-mails...etc. But I gave up and went back to being a night person because something was missing. I wasn't creating as freely as before and I didn't have as much inspirations. I'm a musician and my music didn't flow well. I went back to being a night owl and all my creativity blossomed again. Now I'm still a night owl... who wakes up early.

Hi lucie! I’m a morning person and really loved this. The other things I do when it’s tough to get up are count down from five and by the time it’s zero know I have to be up, set a second alarm two minutes after the first one and have a goal to accomplish by the time the second alarm goes off (such as make my bed or pick out an outfit), and lastly drink a big bottle/glass of water within a few minutes of getting up so my body wakes up faster.

But what can you accomplish in the morning that you can't also accomplish at night? (besides eating breakfast, of course)
@11jokerchen11
@11jokerchen11 6 лет назад
Madeline Elizabeth For me it's usually that once it's dark outside I feel like it's not worth starting a task anymore since the day is p much over, even if I stay up another 4 hours anyway. Also shops etc close at a certain time at night but would be open in the morning.

Luisa me too i get excited to wake up early for and then it lasts for 2 weeks then i go back to being a night owl, I’m a heavy sleeper and i loooove to sleep a lot like 13 hours long if i can, in the summer my family like to stay up late like all of us except my dad we get this from my mom she loves night time so you feel the house is alive from 8 pm and you don’t want to go to bed so I struggle to become a morning person
@11jokerchen11
@11jokerchen11 6 лет назад
Maitha Aldaisi Oh yes it's the same for me! I can sleep really long so it's hard to get up if you can easily go 13 hours. But it's so sweet to have a reason to stay up like a lively family! For me it's usually that my friends and interests in other time zones start being active when I should be going to bed for an early morning.

How about 5 days of discovering some foreign culture? I am Polish so my recommendation is obvious: Polish culture, Poland :). One day could be about food, one day language, national dances, family bounds structure, how society try to preserve in different countries? Or maybe 5days of discovering different cultures (and then many of countries could be included). I think it can wide horizons and we can all learn sth different :)

I'm a natural morning person. I honor that the way I am built is the best way to flow. I honestly dread the days I must stay up after 9pm. I wake up at no later than 6 am even if I have no reason to get up that early. I wake up full of sunshine and amazing. What is the benefit of going against your body's way of being whether trying to stay up later or getting up early? I guess I am with that crowd who believes listening to our body and it's natural flow is important and most productive.
@madelinebeth674
@madelinebeth674 6 лет назад
Thank you!! I feel like there has been a subtle cultural shame for night people lately. Getting things done when your body is ready to get things done is always going to be the best for your body and your emotional regulation.
@woodnymph01
@woodnymph01 6 лет назад
I think so many people aim to get up early, even when their body's natural rhythm means they're more alert in the evening, is because the majority of business's require people to come in early. If work culture allowed people more flexible working times I think people would worry less about whether or not they're an early bird or night owl and just live and work in a way that suits them best.
@linlupin
@linlupin 6 лет назад
I feel like if more businesses offered later shifts and this hired night people (like me!), everything would be much more productive. I’d much rather be working into the AMs instead of waking up at them.
@alisonlaett9625
@alisonlaett9625 6 лет назад
Madeline Elizabeth I feel like this cultural shame stems not from the true night owls but people who stare at their phones all night and then claim it's their body's natural clock, a group of people that has grown in number as cellphone/internet/app use has increased. If you're productive at night, good on you, but most people aren't, even out of those who call themselves night owls. This is however from my personal experience with friends and family who call themselves night owls, and not actual data. I could be being biased.

@Vanessa Kilpatrick I have used this, basically if you have to wake up at 6 am you put that in the sleep calculator and it will tell you times you should go to bed. The reason it works is because of the REM sleep cycle.

I'm not a morning person, but I'd like to be! I don't know how credible the sources that say it's unwise to change your body's natural rhythm are, but I don't quite think that's right. Despite being a night owl my whole life, I find that when I sleep and wake earlier, I feel so much more accomplished and better about myself, and the day runs smoother. When I'm sleeping late into the morning/afternoon, I feel pretty bad about myself when I wake up and I get nothing done. Waking up early is also my big goal!

I wake up at 6 every morning so I can have a 30 min run (this is a new habit) and work on my side hustle - I have an art shop that I need to create content for all the time! Then I still work a 50+ hour week, lol. I became a morning person out of necessity because I want to be able to make my artist dreams come true

I am a complete night owl. It kills me to wake up early... crabby appleton all day and could hardly stay awake by the time 8:00 rolls around on those rare occasions when I do have to get up early. Also believe if you're a morning/night person might be correlated to the time when you were born, morning/night, and I was born late at night.

I honestly loved the idea of becoming a morning person, thought about it for too long, but then after watching your 5 days of waking up early episode and the quote about rising when the sun rises and setting when it sets, along with the quote from the other episode of 5 days of self-love about "set a clear intention/ purpose of the day", it honestly CHANGED MY LIFE, you made me MORE excited for waking up earlier than usual, and I NEEDED THAT for my day. I now also get my workouts done in the morning which is awesome. also honestly, Lucie, I became a die-hard fan of your 5-day challenges, keep'em coming, I eagerly wait for them, because you're the BEST RU-vidr I know. i'm Fatma, LOVE from EGYPT

How you said you are motivated at night to get stuff done, that how I feel in the morning. Not all the time, but I think each day is a new opportunity to get started on the right food. Making sure that I get everything done early leaves me more time to relax in the afternoon or evening, and helps me to unwind from my busy day.

Definitely agree 110% on having something to look forward to in the morning really helps with getting up in the morning. For me these past 4 months, I’ve been going to the gym in the mornings and I know this isn’t feasible for everyone but it has truly changed the way I approach my day and don’t have to fight at the end of the day after work with if I should go to the gym or not. Also it leaves me feeling like now I have more time for other people if I choose at the end of the day:)

Yes. Work makes me a morning person. I wake up at 5 every morning, the key is to be discipline enough to go to sleep before 10 or 11. Shutting all electronic devices helps tremendously... N saying a night prayer n reflecting on how blessed u r the whole day helps set a positive mood for a good night rest... Hop it helps. Keep up the good awesome video.

I never been a morning person! I used to hit snooze and roll out of bed with just enough time to get ready for work and grab a coffee, which made for a really crappy start to the day. If i didn't have to work mornings I could easily sleep til 10am..or later. I been waking up at 5 am, not everyday, but at least 5 days a week now for the past few months. Getting up, working out, having a shower and breakfast and even cleaning up the house a bit all before work at 7. It was just minor changes. Unplugging from computers, phones etc at least an hour before bed, I usually have a hot shower or bath sometimes, drink an herbal tea and read before bed, just things that relax you. Im usually in bed by 10 pm and up at 5am. My quality of sleep is so much better, and I feel more energized and productive. I am so happy that I've become a morning person :)

Hi - a few months ago I moved from Orange County to the Central Coast, which is a much more rural environment. Before I was living in an apartment complex, listening to my neighbors yell, car alarms. dogs barking, street traffic. Now I live in a house with a yard and with doves cooing and from down the street I hear roosters crowing and sheep bleating. Very different! All that to say that somehow since we moved I have somehow started waking up early enough to watch the sunrise every morning, I'm not terribly fit, I'm actually disabled and have limited walking. But about a month ago I started walking early in the morning and I'm now up to almost a mile. All I can say is that it's something in the environment here!

I’ve naturally woken up between 6:00 and 6:45 for the last few years. I’ve noticed that working yourself with 110% mentally, spiritually, and physically that your body will be exhausted and falling asleep and sleeping for a healthy 8 hours won’t be hard at all. I also started last semester to change my mindset about finishing work. It took a while but I finally was able to say that it didn’t matter if it wasn’t finished to a place I wanted it to be, I was going to bed before 11. Also, I always drink a glass of water before bed and I always wake up early with the need to use the bathroom.

I used to be such a night person. I was a single student and never had to be up before 9 am. But then I met my boyfriend, who has to wake up at 6.45 every morning to go to work, and practically moved in with him. And I kid you not, I'm always awake by the time his alarm clock goes off. Then I head home for my morning routines and have loads done by the time I used to wake up. My brains are kinda empty so early in the morning, so it's easy to things you don't have to think about that much. Cleaning, light exercising, running errands, sending emails etc. The first two hours, the hours between 7 and 9 am, are the most productive hours of my day nowadays. And I used to sleep those precious hours.

I’ve always been a morning person. Having something to look forward to is the key: when I was a kid, I was excited to go downstairs and play with my toys, when I was a teenager, it was breakfast and now as an adult, it’s a warm cup of coffee while reading the news. Good job Lucie on trying this out! :)

The tip about scheduling something to look forward to is SO GOOD. I'm job-hunting right now so I definitely struggle to get out of bed in the morning when I feel like it doesn't matter if I go anywhere or do anything during the day. One question though: any tips for becoming a morning person when you share a living space? My husband and I have completely different morning routines and it's hard to mesh them!

My biggest tip is having a delicious breakfast planned the next morning to wake up to! Plan according based on how much time you have but the thought of making your favorite oatmeal or pouring a bowl of the best cereal in the morning really gets me excited to go to sleep earlier!

I am such a morning person! My tips would be to make your bed as soon as you are up, this will stop you from wanting to go back into bed. My other tip is to get ready for bed quite early (shower, take off makeup etc.) and then you can do whatever you like until you fall asleep. I find this makes me tired earlier and if I'm reading and feel tired I don't have to do my shower and everything before. I really enjoyed this video and well done for succeeding!

I am a morning person. I’m also in middle school BUT I do have some tips on waking up early: try drinking a cold glass of water in the morning to wake you up. You can also try hot tea, which is what I usually drink.

I'm a morning person! Always waking up at the same time every day no matter what time I went to bed helps. Also, I love the breakfast I make myself in the morning and look forward to working in the morning. Like you said, having things to look forward to right away helps me wake up.

melatonin really doesn’t work like that. it can’t fix insomnia. lots of people feels like it knocks them out, but its all a placebo affect bc people don’t understand how it works. it’s definitely helpful with jet lag but it doesn’t actually help with sleep in the way most people think it does

I've been a morning person for about a year now. Used to wake up around 10 or 11AM, was super lazy and I always, ALWAYS, felt tired. I have a 4 year old brother and, since we share our bedroom, I started waking up around 7.30 or 8 AM and I'm so much more productive and awake now! By 10 AM I've done anything I had to be done (wash the dishes from the night before+breakfast, tidy up, have a shower, get ready for the day,...). Tips? Find what works for you. 6 AM for me is way to early, 8 AM is fine. I cut out coffee cause it didn't work with my body, I try to eat some fruit around 10, I try to do stuff and I plan the day ahead. I try to limit stress. It might not be easy at first, but when you figure it out it ends up working out perfectly :)

I am a parent of two toddlers who has gone through high school, college, and working years never becoming a morning person. Through so many failed attempts, I realize that I'm not one ultimately because I don't want to be one! I just love the tranquility and energy of the dark! I just feel more productive in the evening, I guess.

Coming from a morning person: -wash your face right after you wake up, always helps me feel awake -drink water after waking up, dehydration can feel a lot like being tired -as my dad called it "the farmer morning routine" go sit outside or open your blinds to get some sunlight (if you're like me and you wake up before the sun does then just keep the lights on in your room)

OMG I SWEAR by melatonin ! I have been using it for years to help me get back on track when my sleep cycle isn't quite right. I usually lie in bed for at least two hours after I turn my phone off, read some of my book, and close my eyes to fall asleep. I would eventually fall asleep at around 2:30-3:00am and wake up the next day around 12:30pm. When I don't have the luxury to sleep as late as I want, I am definitely not happy in the morning. I love melatonin because thirty minutes after I take a small amount, I'm out like a light. Although I am the opposite of a morning person, falling asleep earlier with melatonin is a life saver! I definitely recommend it for people having trouble falling asleep at night.

I've always been a morning person, but lately I've fallen off the wagon a bit. Amy Landino's "How to wake up at 5AM" video really helped me put some things back into focus and now I can't wait to get up early and not have to worry about other people's issues for a couple of hours. That "me" time keeps me going through the day, and I found that I get stuff done earlier and with more glee than before. I also started working out religiously and feel better overall.

I wake up every day at 5 am and try to go to bed by 9 pm (sometimes I go at 9:30 pm), and I do it just because I enjoy it. My work hours are 8 to 5, and I live like 20 minutes away from work (walking distance), so waking up that early really is just what I like, and I get to do so much before 7 am, is crazy!

I’m a morning person... I have always been. What helps me get out of bed is getting up at an odd time. Because I have a activity in the morning and I don’t live very close to my school I have to get up earlier so I can get ready. The other things that get me out of bed are showers and food. Because I have been sleeping I have also been fasting and breaking the fast wakes me up. I also went to a pre-k through 8th grade school where we went to mass every day. To receive communion I had to fast another hour before mass. It gave me a sense of responsibility and needing to eat before a certain time definitely got me out of bed. Taking a shower also helped me get out of bed. The water and feeling clean definitely woke me up. I also like taking a shower before my sister(whom I share a bathroom with) because I feel like the towels aren’t damp from the steam and there isn’t condensation on the mirror. Also if I take a super hot shower then step out of the shower and get hit by cold air that wakes me up. If that doesn’t work I’ll sometimes turn on the super cold water. Hope this was helpful

I’m a morning person as well as an introvert, so I wake up around 6 and just relax by myself until 7. I sleep with the windows open so that the sun shines in and relaxes me. (Seriously makes you feel like a princess) I’m asleep by 10 most nights, unless I have work and then it’s usually 11. I suggest that you set alarms. I used to set an alarm for 6, but now I do it naturally and I don’t worry about being late

I am never a morning person and can you do five days of magnetic earring it’s wired but I can’t get my ears pierced so my parents got me magnetic earrings and I am like I need to wear it and practice pls reply
@hiddentidesgaming
@hiddentidesgaming 6 лет назад
As a woman who is almost 20 years old, I've never had mine pierced and personally don't want to ever do so. My mom tells me all the time she wishes that she had done it when I was a baby. Magnetic earrings and clip-ons are really great, just make sure your skin doesn't react to the metals and you should be okay. Some of them can be a little tight on your ears if they are tighter clasps. I suggest with clip-ons you make sure to check that there is a little barrier on either side to make sure it doesn't dig into your skin. If they don't have them you or your parents could take a small dot of hot glue on either side. Let it stay open til it's fully dried. For magnetic earrings, if you are afraid of losing the little magnets at all, you can actually have something that is metal to stick it to. I grew up with a bunk bed with a metal frame so I kept it on the side where I knew it wouldn't get knocked off. Hope this helps!

Lucie i love your videos and am actually gonna try this one! I start school on Tuesday and really need to get it together and not be late everyday.... on a other note , hear me out. I know you don’t want electronics on for all the reason you’d stated in the video but please don’t turn your phone off at night, it’s really dangerous . Unless you have a house phone which I doubt because no one does , if someone has an emergency and can’t reach you or some thing happens to you and your phone is off that min of waiting for your phone to turn on could make a HUGE difference ..... take it from someone who decided to just completely silent her phone and whole up to 36+ phone calls letting me know my father passed away. It wasn’t until my husbands phone started ringing that we realized what was happening ..... just keep that in mind . Put your phone on the other side of the room or something but don’t turn it off .... ❤️

I've woken up between 5:00-7:00 am consistently for over 5 years, and I'm still not sure if I would consider myself a "morning person." I'm most productive in the middle of the day, but getting up earlier lets me take my time getting ready for the day so that I feel prepared, instead of rushed.
