Referring to Carl Tanzler as "medically gifted" or even "a doctor" is a bit of a stretch. He was a radiology technician who was fired from his job for stealing things from his place of work. Also the concept of it being "unclear" if Hoyos felt the same way is a horrid bit of misinformation. She rejected him many times before her death and after she passed away under the care of a man claiming to be a doctor with no medical experience, he violated her corpse. Painting this as a doomed romance is disgusting and dishonouring Elena's memory.
The weepy voiced killer said in that first recording that he "keeps killing people". Judging by that statement it seems likely that she wasn't his first victim.
About Elena, she wasn't into him. She found Tanzler to be old and creepy. She tolerated him because he was a doctor and her family was desperate for her to get better. The family was grateful to him because he paid for the mausoleum, it was easy for him to gain access to her body.
@@DamnItMantis Radiologists back then were far more different than today's. They focused much more on treating diseases and pathology, so they knew about TB as a disease, but treating it was difficult, because penicillin and other antibiotics only started to be mass produced by the end of the 1930s and towards the WWII period. Plus, back then in the 30s, herbs/plants were still used mostly as medicine
Ya left out the part where poor Elena denied every advance made by the doc while alive. Such a creep. Edit: This was possibly a rumor, I am having trouble verifying and I believed where I heard it from was a reliable source.
So a guy digs up and screws a corpse and your concern is consent? I think you people are "woking" yourselves into a black hole of compressed insanity. He was a necrophiliac. He kept and screwed a corpse. It goes without saying that he was disgusting.
@@DriscolDevil I mention only because without that info, some ppl take his actions as gross but kinda sorta romantic... Obviously you were sane enouhh to know it's sick with or without the info I provided. It's weird with or without consent. Don't take it there bud.
I feel like its more 3 victims that we know of so they just call them by 1,2,3 and so on. Buuut hey maybe they understood that comment as he keeps on killing this one person. I dont know.
He didn't mention that when he got cancer he made a full confession of his crimes. I saw a segment on crime show about it. It had the mother of one of the victims who forgave him knowing that he's not the sanest person
The bomb collar guy should have started screaming the names of the people who did it to him when the beeping started. Good thing they figured it out anyway.
According to the 4 part Netflix documentary, he actually did not know the culprits and was lured into the scheme through a prostitute he befriended, who regretted it and waited years before she confessed he wasn't directly involved and would actually go on to have his baby. In the end, it was their word against his to deflect blame onto him as the mastermind, because they were cowardly scumbags who all pointed fingers at one another to the very end.
@@RobotacularRoBob you know netflix will pay people for stories, right? it doesn't even have to be true, just as long as it sounds true. that woman got paid for selling some lame story. she's literally a junkie.
Important distinction: the actual Elena doll was taken away from the doctor after he was arrested. The family went to great lengths to make sure he couldn't get her a second time, so the guy made a second replica Elena, and that was the doll he spent the rest of his days with, and died with. Two different dolls, one based on an actual human, one not.
I live near a beach, and I have made the sad encounter of many bodies and body parts throughout my life. Most of them belonging to drowned people. One time a body just washed ashore while we were playing volley ball at the beach. Living near the sea is the dream of some people but it comes with its own drawbacks. May all the victims RIP.
The Brian Wells case happened in my hometown, and my dad actually participated in the crime recreation for a TV show. Something you didn't mention that really should have come up is that Brian wasn't just "not the sharpest tool in the shed," he was known to be actively mentally disabled--what folks 40 years ago would have called "a little slow." It's very little wonder he was easy to rope in; Erie really isn't a friendly place to be mentally disabled.
Nina Mason I’m also from Erie and I so vividly remember the day this happened. Always so weird to come across this story on yt/to watch the netflix doc. We ordered from mama mias all the time and I remember Brian delivering our pizzas. People were so unkind to Brian even after his tragic death. I can second the fact that the mentally ill are not treated kindly here :(
Omg yes! Every time I hear this case covered, they always leave out that he was mentally disabled! I remember hearing that for the first time many years ago on a crime show and I swear I haven’t heard it since! Whenever I see someone covering it in the back of my mind I can hear myself saying “Wait… but didn’t he have mental issues? Didn’t I hear that a few people say it probably wasn’t that hard to convince him to do it since he thought they were his friends!?” *sighs* It’s not just Eerie that treats people with “low intelligence” terribly, it’s a fact that across the US that people see an adult, they automatically think they should know better even if they have diminished capacity.
From what I recall, Tanzler was only a newbie radiologist or a janitor and tried home made remedies on Elena... Who was creeped out by the quack doctor. Ask a Mortician did a wonderful episode on her for her Iconic Corpse series.
Yeah, I'm not too keen on doctors turning their deceased patients into eternal love puppets. That kind of psychosis outweighs any medical expertise, in my book.
Yeah, and why was it just one foot? Were there matches, both feet with matching shoes? And why was nothing from any of the bodies found, when bodies float after a few days due to gasses from decomposition? It's BC, the water is cold...there aren't any sharks lurking around. He makes it sound like there's thousands of creatures that devour bodies. 😂
@@nonrustic2221 Vancouver is a shithole? Where in the hell do you live? Please tell me what place qualifies as NOT a shithole? Chillawack, Surrey, and Abbatsford are shitholey, Vancouver is a metropolitan city and its very expensive to live there. If you are speaking about Vancouver, Washington, then yes, that Vancouver is a shithole but not Vancouver, B.C.
There's a case creepier than this. The guy dug many kid's graves, stole their corpses and turned them into dolls. He kept them in his house for a long time. His parents thought that he was just having a weird hobby of making human sized dolls.
Can you imagine the panic of having a beeping bomb strapped around your neck with nobody around that could help you? That’s possibly the most terrifying feeling anyone could feel EVER
Dorothy Donovan is one of my favorite "mysteries" because like, it's so easy to believe that Charles was lying. What were the odds? I'm glad he was finally absolved of the guilt, but how insane.
I was a little disappointed with the feet explanation to be honest. If that theory is true, about it being largely due to suicides and the shows just washing up after the fact, why has this been only an epidemic in British Columbia?? Surely California with the Golden Gaye Bridge and NYC have even more tragic incidents, but no feet in shoes have been reported washing up there in the same numbers. Still does not add up...
Propaganda in Pink it really has to do with the way the pacific current flows, typically since warm air from the south rises amd meets the cold the tides move the currents off the coast of California North, towards Canada. A similar thing actaully went down after the Japanese Earthquake a few years back. I remember some of cousins in Hawaii at the time would get reports of bodies making their way to the shore since they shared the same current its sad really
Nick Knight well I don’t think it would be very improbable that the creators of AHS were inspired by real life stories. The show is full of real life references
Honestly, just figured you were busy with finals or something. But I've only been listening to your channel for a couple months and didn't realize how addicted I got to your weekly vidoes! They help me sleep, for sure. Glad you're doing alright. :)
The Weepy Voiced Killer case is equal parts sad and horrifying Someone calls the police, apologizing and asking for help because he can’t stop killing and he doesn’t know what to do But then he gains notoriety and suddenly…he’s not too upset about the murders as much as being locked up… The way he so quickly changed his attitude towards what he did is just disturbing
wow what a good video theme. Very nice as always (Out of all these horror story youtubers ive seen, you have the best composure, voice, and reading ability! A+++ channel)
Deep analysis, facts and serious voice. This is what everyone wants in a mysterious YT video. Not a flippin' man bun hipster yelling out loud "TOP TEN SCARY STORIES! SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON"
Lazy Masquerade No disrespect but you are wrong to state that Brian Wells was in on the robbery, the prostitute he was seeing at the time was the reason he got the device strapped to him in the first place. She admitted that despite the fact they were close she decided to betray him by giving his name to Marjorie and the others as an unwitting fall guy for their robbery plan and they then abducted him, she did this because she was desperate for money to buy the drugs she was addicted to. Brian Wells poor family told the police for years he would never willingly take part in a robbery and that he had been murdered but they wouldn't listen and instead went out of their way to deliberately blacken his name, they even callously chopped his head off just to get their hands on the device causing an already grieving family a lot more pain.
I watched the documentary and I believe the prostitute's story. Her story had the least holes in it and made the most sense. And also, she had nothing to lose or gain from it.
@@DizzyedUpGirl her story would have to be beyond watertight for me to believe a junkie hooker lmfao you realize those types of people manipulate others like you or I eat or sleep right? They need to do it to survive so they kinda become pretty damn good at it.
Kirk Bupkis You clearly didn’t watch the docu or look into this case. She didn’t say this until after everyone was arrested and the case was closed, and she didn’t say this to the cops either. And it doesn’t make her look good either because she’s the one who introduced Brian to the people who would later kill him. If anything saying this makes her life worst because people blame her for it
It’s more polite, but still gets the point across. Also if I there are younger kids reading, they won’t be exposed to that. Not that I do it, just brainstorming.
I don't understand the judicial system... the guy in the 3rd story murders several people and gets only 40 years when the guy in 4th story kills one grandma and gets life sentence...
Donovan Waite Hm. I didn't know that. I literally thought if you got a life sentence that you'd spend the rest of your sorry life in prison.. Good to know!
Moomaniac a life sentence isn't 33 years, life snetences vary state to state and country to country try, he really life sentence means until you die as it's hard to determine how long someone will live, so it's a general term.
The Elena one tho. So sad that she couldn't rest peacefully. In the comments it said that she refused the Dr.'s advances in real life. Stuff like that is not ok at all and he should've been locked up for life. I hope that Elena rests peacefully after she was put back into her grave. R.I.P beautiful soul. :(
That’s definitely not romantic! The whole story is, “Creep forcefully takes advantage of someone’s body!” God knows what kind of disturbing things he did with her body that was not recorded.
I suffer from insomnia. I have downloaded few of your audios and listen to them at night. It only takes me about 2 hours to fall asleep now. Thanks man, love to you
elena’s case just makes me sick. what disturbs me even more is the thought that at night, tanzler was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, and waking up the next morning to go to work and was still treating patients. even more disgusting is that his reputation did not change and people just accepted that this man thought it was okay to steal a corpse and sleep with it.
Lazy Masquerade You have my second favorite intro out of all the RU-vidrs I have seen. TheReportOfTheWeek beats you out by just a tiny bit. I personally find your intro really relaxing. It's like coming home from a 12 hour shift and just sinking into a chair knowing things will be better.
I listen to this at 2am, shiting my weeb pants, trying to find some courage to buck it into kitchen for nutella and bread so I don't die of hunger 😂😂 story of my life
The story with the hitchiker...It's heartbreaking. Not only someone's mother was murdered, not only an old woman was murdered in such cruel way,but also, after such a traumatic experience, after which he would probably want his mother's warm hug to comfort him,he instead found her dead...she seemed so sweet and genuinely kind hearted,so this makes it even more difficult.I mean, thinking about how someone could hurt such person and especially this way
had subtitles on cause was crunching on chips and the subtitles for dude visiting lady's tomb wwas "Her anus tuned to be with her" "Elena's tomb to be with her" just thought i'd share that with you folks
The story of Elena is one of my favorites (as someone who goes to Key West frequently), but I do feel terrible for the poor woman. She didn’t deserve any of that. He was a creep
@@saphriaflaans462 I would feel worse for her family who is still alive, I don’t remember saying this but I will stand with my point that its not going to traumatize and hurt them like it would if they were still alive, not saying it’s okay to do and however did it is a disgusting sicko
