I've been using alcohol markers for a while, but I never really know how it's going to end up until after the resin is on and cured because the resin can make the alcohol ink pool. I will say, It gives a really nice almost organic feel but it's much more hit and miss with which ones turn out useable.

Can the UV lamp be the same as a nail curing one? Also, is it totally risk-free to handle an UV lamp?
@GMartdolls
@GMartdolls Год назад
Yes you may use a nail curing one, the one I used is exactly that. However not every lamp works, it really depends on the resin you are going to use. I used a LED nail lamp and it did not cure the resin so I had to invest in a UV one. As long as the UV lamp is used properly and according to the instructions I think it is safe.

Are the eyes glued into place after they're made and put into a doll?
@GMartdolls
@GMartdolls 4 года назад
There is eye putty that can be used to hold them in place and it can be easily removed if you decide to change the eyes.

How do you dry resin? Does it have to have a UV light to be cured?
@GMartdolls
@GMartdolls 4 года назад
It really depends on the resin you decide to use. For two-parts resins uv light is not needed, I'm using a uv one because it's a bit easier to work with and you don't need to worry about the curing time.

Does anyone know if you use plastacine clay inside resin eyes like this...does it get melty or weird and messed up if you bake it into a polymer sculpture in the oven? I love the effect that the plastacine clay lends to the eyes, but I know plastacine is oil based and never really dries...so I makes me wonder if baking it in the oven would make a mess ...or if the resin perserves it in place pretty much forever once its encased? trying to decide if it would be better to just use more polymer clay...but plastacine clay is so cheap and soft and easy to squish in . :)

Any advice on not getting bubbles? I tried to follow this general process and the eyes have so many bubbles it looks like I sprinkled chunky glitter in....
@GMartdolls
@GMartdolls 2 года назад
If you can leave them in a dark warm place for 15-30 minutes so the resin doesn't harder from the light and if there are still some bubbles after that pop them with the lighter. I sometimes move the bubbles around with a needle to help them come closer to the surface.

What is the white pigment you used?
@GMartdolls
@GMartdolls 3 года назад
0:36 I used white pigment for uv resin just to make it opaque. I hope this answers your question, all the materials are listed in the description. :)

I'm so frustrated. Every time I try to uv the clear resin gets bubbles out of nowhere it will be clear before I bake and then while baking it will form bubbles. How do I stop this
@GMartdolls
@GMartdolls 4 года назад
I had a similar problem, try lightly passing with a lighter before you put it under the uv light and after that cure it under the lamp using short intervals like 20-30sec to a 1min each. If the resin is too close to the light bulb it gets hot and may form bubbles inside even when there were none at the beginning.
@gabbycoy1
@gabbycoy1 4 года назад
@@GMartdolls ok thank you. I did the lighter but I did heat it up for almost 3 to 4 minutes so maybe that is it

The clay & epoxy causes a chemical reaction that can show up MONTHS later in eyes that are the prettiest when made. Then boom 💥 Bubbles pop up deep within the clay. It’s soo frustrating:/
