Hey lovely one, I just read your community post and I wanted to pop in to give some encouragement. Please keep doing what you’re doing. we live in a world where these topics are not popular but they are vital for our souls. People are craving the life and information you are taking the time to provide, even if the analytics show that may ebb and flow. This could very well be a test from God as you weather through times that make You wonder, what’s all this time and effort worth? He promises to bless our efforts if they are coming from the right place. Don’t give up hope, and remember that the 8% of those actively coming back and engaging are people who’s lives are changed for the better because of you. That creates a ripple effect to repair the world that you and I may never know about. ❤ have a beautiful day
I echo these thoughts!!! I just realized I didn’t change the bell to get notifications for this channel. I was always searching for it when I could get a chance. Just changed to get notified!! I especially love the devotional thoughts shared. I’ve been given so much hope on stressful homemaking, housekeeping days when I feel like I’m failing at everything. 🌱❤️🙏🏻
Thank you for teaching us these skills. I am 70 yrs old. I wish I would have known how before our world started falling apart. I want healthy products. All these years, I never dreamed we were being poisoned in EVERY way!! I appreciate you.
I’m new to this channel. I subscribe after this video. I’m a wife ,homeschool mother of 4 , and a follower of Jesus Christ. I hope to find videos on how to balance everything while cooking healthy meals for the family. ❤️ What school did you learn that from? Would love to see more videos like this
I would like to add, as a person whose prefrontal cortex just developed; I love your videos. As I have paid attention to everything we eat, put on our skin, and just daily things we’ve relied upon for years. I have quickly realized, almost everything that is being marketed towards us, is just plain horrible for us! And my future is based upon what I change about myself now. As a beginner, I appreciate your videos more than you’ll ever know. You are also very involved in your online community. You want to know us, you want to know what we think, how we feel, I definitely feel care about here! You give step-by-step instructions, you also add your own commentary/ideas to a recipe, and just the overall aesthetic of your videos is amazing. Just know you’re doing an amazing job, and I promise your videos have changed lives.
@@mountainmamashome WOW, I wasn’t expecting you to reply as fast as you did! Just backs up my comment 🩷 but I’ve been hesitating on commenting for a while, but God was pulling me tonight to tell you how I’ve felt since I’ve found your channel. You may not realize it, but you’ve helped me through some very rough/dark moments of my life. You being upbeat with every post, gave me hope. I definitely found this page for a reason! And I can’t thank you enough for all the knowledge you’ve passed down to me, and to the generations beyond me. I’m very thankful you decided to share your wisdom here on RU-vid. 🩷
Thank you very much for telling me this. It helps me to know that I am making a difference. I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me this. God Bless you!
@@heather5926I also use beef tallow face cream. A tiny bit goes a long way. If I use too much I also break out with zits. I read that sometimes they are made with rancid tallow. That’s gross! The place where I buy mine raise their own cows. Grass fed only. They grow their own feed for the winter months. No soy in anything either. I like the face cream, but I think it’s time to try something else. As long as it’s healthy, I’m game.
Loved the facial oil recipe! Jojoba oil is rich in ceramides, which helps repair the skin barrier. Borage oil is rich in omega 6 & GLA, highly moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and healing for people with psoriasis and eczema. Rosehip oil is one of nature's retinol alternatives (high in Vit A). Moreover, rosehip inhibits the creation of an enzyme that breaks down collagen (MMP-1), hence it protects our existing collagen, prevents further breakdown of it and improves the elasticity of our skin. My favourite oil is seabuckthorn oil! High in GLA but also amazing for hyperpigmentation which is usually present in mature skin (sun spots, age spots, liver spots...). For the acne soaps, you can definitely try adding charcoal, and clays. Also, you can experiment with ingredients we, Middle Easterns, traditionally use for acne like (a little bit) of turmeric powder, neem leaf powder, and (my secreted ingredient) henna powder. Additionally, you can use tea tree oil, neem oil, lavender oil and chamomile oil if your daughter has sensitive skin. Tea tree, neem and thyme oils are a bit on the stronger side for someone with sensitive skin. Something else you can play with is the carrier/fixed oils. Using a small amount of castor oil will improve the cleansing properties of the final soap bars. Here are a couple of more tips; Honey usually heats the soap mixture (A LOT), so I would recommend adding it towards the end. As for the calendula petals, I prefer using calendula-infused oils (maybe sweet almond, jojoba or/and argan oil) near the end, when adding the essential oils. Adding the petals into the soap mixture and blending usually spoils the soap quickly (at least in my experience). However, I add the dried petals to the top of the soap as a form of decoration.
Shayla, you are a wonderful teacher, when it comes to helping us do things correctly and when things don’t go according to plan you are honest and let your viewers know. I appreciate all that you do. Take care! 😊🌸🌺
You're not supposed to use anything with oil as a moisturizer AT NIGHT. it slows down rejuvenation regeneration AT NIGHT... I was my face AT NIGHT with *JOJOBA OIL* and my 63 year old skin face looks early forties. "Oil as cleanser and moisturizer IN MORNING/DAYTIME is life changing 👏
So fun. Thanks. Have you looked into hot process soap? You mix the soap in a crock pot and then cook it for 60 to 90 minutes. Then you stir it and mold it. The next day when you unmold it, you can use it right away. If you wait a few weeks it will harden and therefore last longer. I love the instant gratification. Use a crock pot that is only for this process, it does ruin the finish on the crock.
Shayla, have you considered marketing your creams/lotions as another source of income? I'm currently using castor oil, blackseed oil, and rosehip oil for my facial oil, but I haven't tried anything with my own herbs. This is a wonderful resource for trying these recipes. So far, I like the face oil I use, but I'm excited to possibly try some of these. Also, all of your containers of herbs are gorgeous. I just love your style and presentation.
I love your videos. You are so creative. We share many things in common. I have 9 kids im still homeschooling tye last 2 it has been 30 years as a homeschool mom . I also have a iod homestead. We garden, can and I educate people in natural wellness. ❤
Oooooo thank you so so so much for making and posting this!!!!!! I’m so excited to make my own bath and body products, and you go over everything so well 💚💚💚
Yay!!! I was wondering if you were going to show this fun stuff!!! Your homemade cleaners and food were there and I knew you would do something like this! So happy right now, thank you for your wealth of knowledge.
MORE content like this! 🎉 I am itching to try soap making, so far I’ve made tallow balm and a basic cleanser 🙊and I want to try and make everything you made here! I know I will come back to this video once I’ve gathered enough ingredients. I like the thought of gifting these things around the holidays 🎄
Hello, is there something similar you would like me to make a video on next? When I made this I had no idea it would be so well received! I'd love to hear what along the lines of this people would like. 🥰
WOW Shayla, very informative and so beautifully done. Thank you. I'm late viewing this a hope I can watch again. And one question, I thought I heard on the Bramble Berry Cite that if you get lye on your skin do NOT apply vinegar as it will make the burn worse...
You have a beautiful home! I loved watching your video. I think you may have mixed your soap in an aluminum pan. That will cause problems with chemical reactions as well as burn a hole through the pan. I can’t wait to try your rose facial cream. Thank you for sharing!
Sara, I get that! You can work some of the lotions into either an arts and crafts project with the kids, or even an health and sciences class. I wouldn't do the soap with younger kids though of course.
I love seeing people create home remedies and fun things like you are doing in this video. It is sad the beeswax had issues when you tried to work with it. The only thing where you have to wear a mask. . .are you still inhaling any of it? Is that dangerous still? Then to put it on your body. . are you sure that would be okay? Lye is so crazy though because it was how things were done forever right?
Hello Friend! So lye is in all soap. It's what makes soap, soap! One great video on it is by BrambleBerry, You can find it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UVyCHzzvkr8.html
If not heating glass cookware works wonders and microwave and heat resistant. Please don't go with a cheap glass pot went threw 3 of them myself. Have a great day
For what it’s worth… I had chronically dry skin and I thought it was environmental or sensitive skin maybe? It has been my gut health. Especially with multiple people in the household with it trouble.. May be worth looking into!
Does it matter what kind of rose you get the rose pedals from? I want to eventually grow yellow roses. Also, some people have these roses called rock roses?
ABOUT THE VOTE. I did not vote because I live watching you, however I first tuned for homeschooling, not homestead or how to clean and cook. I would watch every video if it were about homeschooling. I even love watching the most simple homeschool videos.
Help - I’m a newbie and didn’t know I couldn’t use fresh calendula to my oil to steep - is there ANYTHING I can do to salvage an entire 1/2 gallon of calendula steeping in organic avocado oil?? 😢
Hello Carolyn, I'm sorry to hear this happened! Unfortunately there is not, but depending on when you started it it might not be a complete waste. How long ago did you start the infusion?
If it still looks and smells okay I would freeze it in portions and take it out as you need it. Can you share with me what you plan to make with it? I might be able to give more pointers if I know what your plans are to use it for...
@@mountainmamashome ok thank you! I was planning to use in soap making and in making salve for hard working hands. I was wondering is the lowest slowest steep would work some of the moisture out?
Question… they say we shouldn’t eat seed oils because of the chemicals it takes to extract the oil from the seeds. So by using seed oils on our skin aren’t we putting those chemicals into our skin?
I'm so sorry to hear that! It's not possible for me to know for sure what went wrong without having been there, can you tell me which of the lotions it was you tried? Did you sub any ingredients?
