This is the simplistic way to get a contract, otherwise called a carrier appointment, with an insurance company as a new agent.
Steps discussed:
1. Find/google the form to the company you want to apply for an appointment
2. Have E&O and business plan ready submit to carrier
3. Apply for contract/appointment
4. Research company in regards to the type of business the company is focusing on (Non-preferred, standard, preferred) writing.
5. Interview with local carrier rep
6. Get appointed and move forward

Notes: Don't over promise. Be prepared to discuss your goals and marketing plan with the carrier representative. Treat it as if it was an interview for a job.
