Another thing that helps me is when you grip a 4-seam (I don't know if it works for anything else) instead of holding the ball with all of your fingers, hold it with more the tip of your fingers and put some space between the ball and your fingers. You won't really see the difference until that starts becoming a routine but it increases speed I'd say about 2 or 3 mph ;) not much but it's a big difference when it comes to pitching or even throwing from the outfield to home
i don't have any access to weights the only thing close I have is a 40lb dumbell weight that ive been doing curls on for the past week please help me with some other ways to get velocity?
Check out our UBT Velocity System! There's LOTS you can do without weights to improve your velocity. UBT VELO contains fast-action velocity drills, pro-style plyometrics, rotator cuff activation exercises, etc.
You could use a bounce back. And then when you are warmed up, you could go to a field with a bucket of baseballs and start to throw towards the backstop and work your way back to center field.
This is just superb, been searching for "youth baseball hitting drills" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Penonnor Baseball Babaco - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my colleague got great success with it.
Just some advice for all pitchers and outfielders. There's really only one way to use all of your body to throw, and that is when you throw (especially pitching) you have to bring all your weight behind you, and bring your arm around as your weight hits your front foot after your step. Then, you just gotta push off hard. That's where all your velocity comes from. Went from 58 to 61 by just doing that. A great example of this is Aroldis Chapman. He's the best example of a hard thrower. He uses his entire body to throw hard, which is why he throws 105. Finally, you have to think about wanting to pitch. When you really want to pitch, your confidence skyrockets and it improves you with speed and accuracy. That's all I do, and I throw lots of shutouts at 12.
Good tips but you need to not tell people to take ibuprofin or any other similar drug. They are dangerous. If a player has a healthful meal plan, rests and exercises on a regular basis everything will be fine.
