Well done my man. As a fellow Tutorial/Tips RU-vidr I'm a huge fan of short videos that get right to the point and don't waste time. Thanks for your help!
This is on time, today I just realized how fast my drive was full which never was before… THANK YOU SO MUCH for this, saved me from so much frustration.
Yes, I breathes easier when I discovered these essential settings. Although I recently decided to add files into the library again because I transfer things back and forth from my external all the time now and it’s easier to keep them in the project so I don’t have to keep track independently. Great work!
Everytime I come across a YT video that adds this level of value and does it quickly,I always feel compelled to start a wave like they do in sport events to show my appreciation for your help. Thanks man! 🙌🏻
Loved the video! Really helpful. Was dealing with the nightmare of 'rending' in the background for hours for a 3-5 min video. This is going to be so helpful! Thanks bud!
This was an amazing video! It was short, easy, and straight to the point. I just have a quick question for you: I already have my storage full. What could I delete to free up space? Thanks!
Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful video! 🙌 Not only did your clear and concise explanation make the process a breeze, but I've managed to free up a significant amount of space on my hard drive, which was desperately needed. You've truly been a lifesaver! Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your content in the future! 👍
Man brother I appreciate the video. All I’m trying to do is share a video just to find out that FCPX is using almost 900 GB of my storage. I literally only use my MacBook to edit and upload. I’m new to this but it’s quite frustrating.
This is great and right to the point thanks bro for keeping it simple and getting right to the point, I'm a big fan now bro, and will subscribe, thanks and keep it up great content.
This is just fabulous! I'm so happy to have found your channel. I am transitioning from Filmora to FCPX and your channel has made things a lot easier for me. Thank you!
top tips... question....when fcp renders your whole film....does it render shots dont need rendering....basic non colour corrected camera files? hmmmm?...i think it does
Good question. In theory it renders only the everything that you added to your clips for playback purpose, but with the default setting seems to render every time you move the mouse. That said, if you choose to render a selection, FCP will render the added effects, transitions, color grading, retiming, and anything else you did to the selection
Please!!! help me! My FC keeps getting erros with libraries, I try to edit my videos, a message pops out saying that Final Cut can not save changes to the library, then it closes and I miss everything... what's going on? please!!
If you can, create a new library and copy everything to that new library. Also make sure that FCP has full disc access in your privacy system preferences. There might be other ways of course, but I might need more details. Let me know how I can help
Glad it helped! So in FCP, rendering means creating a copy so that you can smoothly play it back on your timeline. Most computers can handle handle most edits nowadays so I only render the parts that have lots of animation, transition, effects to save space.
such an amazing video!! quick question - if i uncheck "create proxy media" does that mean i won't be able to view my project in proxy for faster editing?
Good day to you. Thanks for the explanation. I would like to know, since we 'leave files in place', will there be duplicates as well? as we have own external drive files and also the extra auto generated 'original media folder' under FCPX. Hope to hear from you soon. I have subscribed to you
If you guys leave the files in place then fcp will not create a copy where the library is stored. However, there would be still duplicates if you choose to render your edits but those ones are easy to get rid of. Now if the library is located on the external drive then it shouldn’t really matter if you choose leave in place or copy to library. My goal is to not create unnecessary duplicates. I hope this helped, let me know if there’s anything else you need
What exactly does it do to my projects if i delete generated library files? Will it delete projects im currently working on? Edit: I have like 3 projects im currently working on and I really dont want to lose my progress on them and if you could explain better what that does it’ll calm my anxiety about doing that, but i SEVERELY need the storage, yesterday i had over 100gb free, right now i have 11gb free and im extremely stressed about it
All generated files are the files that FCP created so that you can have a better editing experience, faster and smoother. You can delete them it will not affect your original files. It shouldn’t affect your project but if the project can’t find the files just relink files with originals. Your project is safe as long as you have the originals That said, If you chose not to generate proxy files, optimized media files, and stop background rendering you should be good with storage.
I tried your way but it didn't worked on my Final Cut Pro 10.6.6. After doing the "Delete Generated Library Files" still there no rendered files are deleted from the project. My project media file size is 17 GB but after rendering it became 114 GB. After doing the "Delete Generated Library Files - Delete Render Files - Unused only" not a single GB of space is freed.
