Well my biggest issue with nukaworld, is that you have to ruin your previous gameplay to take full advantage of it. There should be an option to assemble a strike force of the Minuteman and throw the raiders out

There is a really great mod called nuka world plus that lets you do that with all the factions, and it lets you build up Nuka like sim settlements

@@fireteamcali6803 I'm actually planning on doing the Nuka World run in my current playthrough with that very mod. One caveat, though, is that it's still kind in beta, but from what I've seem from the dev updates on their discord is that it's mostly down to getting voice work for the NPCs & some bug hunting at this point.

No you don’t, You just have to change the roleplay a bit. During the beginning dialogue Nora asks Nate if he wants to go to the park. For role play purposes I played as Nora and pretended that I was going to Nukaworld (The park) to reminisce. We’ll just say Nora couldn’t cope very well and ended up turning into an evil raider overboss. Then at some point she had a change of heart and redeemed herself with the Minutemen 🙌 So I started a modded survival playthrough and went straight to NukaWorld. The gauntlet was a nightmare but it was fun and rewarding getting thru it on survival at like level 2 lol I sided with the pack and using a mod called FCOM, I led my raider pack thru the commonwealth and took over settlements whenever I felt like. After I completed everything in NukaWorld and got all the perks, I then met Preston and became general of minutemen. Then using my mods (FCOM & MM) I stormed Nuka World with my army of Minutemen, Killed the raiders and now my minutemen patrol Nuka World! 💯 Also if you’re willing to play with mods these 3 are my favorite and I would highly recommend them 🥇 -FCOM -Militarized Minutemen -FCOM MM patch

The only thing I think besides these changes that would also be cool, was an alternative ending to the main storyline. An ending where the raiders reign supreme. It would require a change in post game content, since raiders wouldnt be a problem anymore. But I think it would really fit as a solo faction victory. As no other faction can work together with raiders.

The Institute could, if they see themselves on danger and not being able to defeat them, they could just negotiate a peace treaty where the Institute offers advanced technology to the raiders and supporting them on their mission to colonize the Commonwealth since the Institute doesn't care about territory and the raiders in return give them free reign and slaves to conduct experiments on

After finishing the nuka-world dlc gage would approach the mc and tell him that the Raiders found two scientist capable of constructing the teleporter. One is thinker tom and the other is a brotherhood of steel scientist which would trigger a raid against the choosen faction to capture the scientist and force them to construct the machine afterward you get an optionnal objective to extract information from an institute terminal revealling the mass generator has well as instructions on how to take control over the synths. This gives you two choices either take control of the synths and use them to kill everyone in the institute or blow the entire place up (similar to the other factions ending). Going down the controlling path would trigger multiple quests with the objective to destroy all the other factions because none of them wants you to get that kind of power, you would also have quests to gather the nessessery items that you need in order to accomplish your goal. That would be my idea of how to do a raider faction final questline.

The best fix is convince gage to go legit. You convince them the raider life style is doomed in the long run and go ligite. The operators(the most liked of the 3) would go along wit it. As a reward you get them to team up with main factions side with and accualy turn nuka world in to a trade hub. Using it to supply your settliments with resorces.

You mention a Single Gang Ending, but I want a three Gang Ending. Isn’t that the point, that you’re supposed to be able to do what Colter couldn’t and get all three gangs to follow you willingly? I think through a combo of Raider Settlements and Side Quests, it should be possible. Maybe also at the last interaction, getting the Rebel Gang that takes over the power plant to stand down by passing a series of speech checks. You’d probably have to speech check each leader to get them not to kill the Rebel Gang Leader.

So wierd how Colter/the Player get the short of the stick when it comes to Raiders. Like every other raider group in the commonwealth is a completely apolitcal ruffian ready to kill and follow anyone who promises caps/chems/survival. But Nuka world just so happens to be the one place with distinct raider tribes that will most definitely put thier...politics? Ideology? nah that's too strong. Aesthetic, that works. They're ready to jeapordize nukaworld and the most secure massive raider gang in the continental u.s for the sake of preserving their aesthetic.

Honestly it makes sense that preston dosen't forgive you. You help rebuild the Minutemen you become his friend then boom you just betray him by becoming a raider. Preston before meeting you lost everything, all his friends, all his hope. The man wanted to throw his life away, he wanted to die. And you betraying him? Well he lost his only true friend. So it makes sense he wouldn't want anything to do with a backstabbing traitor on a personal level. But if you do your dirt before becoming his friend hes willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. You two didn't know eachother therefore if you are serious about redemption then theres room to develop a friendship because theres no betrayal getting in the way. Theres no doubts of "he'll probably try to betray me again if i get to close "

An idea I had for open season is that you could convince some of the lower rank raiders to mutiny against their bosses. After open season, there’s a massive power vacuum, so having some reformed raiders could fix that. Ex operators could run stores, Ex disciples could provide security, and Ex pack could help you deal with wildlife

9:50 I have found a solution for you, I recently did Nuka World and by bringing Preston with me and as soon as I was able to get into the same room with Gage after he helps you kill Colter you kill him right there and Open Season starts automatically plus by doing it right then and there Preston will stay happy with you since you didn't give Gage or the raiders any chance to coerce you into being a raider. It was pretty fun taking on all three gangs.

My biggest issue with this dlc is lack of opcion to clear out the entire nuka world with Minutemen/Brotherhood of Steel/Railroad/Institute, and then remained there as new npc occupying the entire park. We have somthing similar with Far Harbor DLC were factions like Brotherhood of Steel, Institute could attack Arcadia, Railroad would work with them in the future.

@mr.mammuthusafricanavus8299 6 месяцев назад
The most glaring problems in Nuka World are, for me, two things: 1. You can't get your fraction to come over, your forced to be a raider. I really wanted to bring the force of the Brotherhood down on these raiders so badly! 2. Once your done nothing really regenerates. Once they are dead no new things happen= no replay value I'd love it if we had the option of getting Evan to become the leader of Nuka World :)

@henrywebb3463 6 месяцев назад
One additional thing i think should have been done. Give the player a perk for completing open season. Even if it is something simple like "take 10% damages from Raiders". makes you feel like you have to ignore most of the story of the DLC if you kill the raiders (which I do in almost every playthough)
@DJ_Bonebraker
@DJ_Bonebraker 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, getting a cool perk like, I dunno, "Nuka World Sherriff" or something like it that gives you a slight damage buff when fighting raiders, trappers & maybe gunners would've been cool.

The reason why there kind of needs to be at least 2 gangs in the ending is because the over boss leverages the gangs against each others to maintain his position and stability. If the operators were the only gang left they would need to decide to work with you and out of the goodness of their heart share their caps with you. (Basically one gang has no need for an over boss) However, I agree with you that there should be an option to conspire with one gang to take over the park. There should probably also be an ending where all three gang survive.
@EvilParagon4
@EvilParagon4 5 месяцев назад
Well at that point you wouldn't be an overboss, you'd just be _the_ boss of the now distinct gang of Raiders. It's not hard to see a game where the leverage is thrown out the window in favour of a genuine position of leadership for one gang.

theory:Preston is actually a raider who wears a minuteman uniform and tricks unsuspecting travelers into thinking they are the general of the minutemen but the ruse goes to far and they actually form the minutemen again so to get something out of this he hires raiders and super mutants and gunners to attack settlements and he will give all these quests to the general to annoy him
@Sorain1

The idea of Preston writing a tell all book at the end of his life where he has to confess that after a point, he just gave up on getting the Soul Survivor killed and adopted the mask out of self preservation as an ending slide amuses me greatly.

7:30 You do have the option of open season after you complete power play. Just don't talk to the doc until after you complete power play and she still gives you the quest to clear out Nukaworld of the remaining two raider groups. I do it all the time because i like the operators and pack perks but i don't want to bother with the raiders after the fact so i always betray them after power play so i can have the perks and still have the satisfaction of killing them.
@LaylaSpellwind
@LaylaSpellwind 6 месяцев назад
I'd like if the gangs were more accurate to their aesthetic. If disciples had the bloody mess perk. Operators would actually trade. And most importantly. If the Pack had animal companions that joined them in combat. Like Yao Guai and things. Making them actually represent what it feels like they should be. Instead of them all fighting the same way, except the disciples occasionally use melee.

I like nuka world more than far harbor. I like the whimsy of each of the lands, the new cola flavors, new creatures, and new build elements. Far Harbor is too dark and foggy (as it is designed to be). I’m still a kid at heart, I love Disney World and Pixar movies.
@juliahamilton8811

the moments of goofiness in the NW DLC is really refreshing compared to Far Harbor which is dark (figuratively and literally like you said lmao), it’s unfortunate the gameplay blunders gets in the way of how good the NW DLC could be! The contrast of abandoned capitalist family theme park and nuclear apocalypse gang war was a fun concept, and I appreciated the stylistic aspect it brought to the game.

Completely agree with you about Gage - it would be a lot better to give the player the choice of convincing him and retaining him as a companion, or letting him escape into the wilds, or having to kill him. I also like the idea of having a one gang ending - much more sensible than two gangs with contrasting motivations holding the park. You could extend it a bit, too and have any Commonwealth raider settlement you clear out then become a new home for your chosen raiders in the Commonwealth, and see allied raiders attacking other settlements. The only other things that might be worth considering is expanding Open Season as well - not only being able to call in the Minutemen, but also helping the Slaves stage their own revolt - smuggling weapons, finding the deactivation code for the collars, gathering medical supplies, convincing the other merchants to join in, etc. It's already similar to the Railroad quest in the Institute, so it shouldn't be too difficult to add - and then you can have Nuka Town held by liberated slaves as an end game state. Finally, the thing that always gets me; we're told the whole place is a powder keg - each of the gangs are at each other's throats - and yet we never see this; so why don't we use that to the player's advantage in Open Season? Imagine killing a high-ranking member of one gang and planting evidence (or using some method of killing) that implicates another. This could lead to an all-out war between the gangs involved. I won't add that it would be awesome to have settlement building in each of the park areas, and you could have Kaylor recruit the player to find out what happened to multiple recon squads sent to the park; no need for any NPC in the transit centre. Kaylor would just give you the code to the security station, and you could travel straight to Nuka World (or just hack the master level computer if you want to avoid the Gunners).
@cstains5543
@cstains5543 6 месяцев назад
One of the ideas I have had for a while on Nuka World is to add additional conquerable regions as well as additional groups, traders and slaves that have needs. You need to balance the desires of the raiders with the needs of all the people for food, goods, etc. The raiders need to eat even if they don't think about it very much so the slaves have to have land to farm and enough farm land to feed everyone, the Nuka Town traders need areas to scavenge parts and items from to sell to the raiders so once again you have to give some amount of land to that effort as well. Balance each group while keeping the raiders from turning on you because they don't se the needs of the whole at all until it's too late. Make it possible to mismanage the whole place into a disaster with everyone either abandoning the park or going to war with each other.
@Crackmiser

I’m genuinely surprised you didn’t mention a way to keep all three gangs. I split it up 2 - 2 - 1 on my first playthrough was pissed that I essentially wasted a park on a gang what would betray me. I really think there should have been a way to make all 3 gangs happy if you went full raider. Like in older fallout gangs this dlc would have have had that ending every time unless you FULLY committed to being an evil raider overlord.
@EvilParagon4
@EvilParagon4 5 месяцев назад
I think the problem there is that an ending with one gang against you is the more interesting (but less satisfying) ending. Evenly dividing the park or simply passing speech checks would not have been compelling and most people would have experienced the 3 gang ending if it existed. If there was a way to be smart about it and "hide" the 3 gang ending, then sure it could work, definitely.
@Evelyn-qt3hi
@Evelyn-qt3hi 5 месяцев назад
@@EvilParagon4 They could've kept the betrayal, but had it possible to convince them to stand down at the last confrontation. Maybe if you do an individual side quest for each of the gang leaders, then you have the option to convince the two loyal gangs to not immediately kill the leaders of the third if possible, and then you can also convince the gang leader that betrayed you to come back into the fold. Then you get all three gangs back and still have the betrayal and fight at the power station

I loved Nukaworld mainly for the setting and what it added to the vanilla fallout 4 loop. They absolutely nailed the feeling of a defunct theme park, and the variety of the different zones and the thematic details of each really made going through them memorable even though the underlying narrative left a lot to be desired. I love that a lot of the background characters really stand out and are given little moments- Dixie of the Disciples (who I get the feeling had a lot of cut content tied to her), Cito in the jungle zone with the ghoulrillas (ridiculous character, yes, but this series has plenty). I love that Sierra Petrovita gets a little mission and is oblivious to the fact that she's surrounded by raiders. Far Harbor had a compelling narrative and some great locations as well, but it was very bleak for the most part, both in story and setting. Nuka World is a big bright joke of a DLC and I love it.

I really feel that we as players should have been given a lot more choices, like you decide infiltrate the nuka world gangs in order to wipe them out, but you can go about it in many different ways and when/if Preston asks you about it, you can tell him and he would go along with it, since they are to powerful to just wipe out all at once and maybe even some decide that being part of the gangs is no longer for them and you have to help them escape without being caught doing so.

The entire DLC was focused around the Raiders, if you decided to not be a raider and do Open Season then you spent money for a glorified Kill Raider Gang at X radiant quest. On the note of having to help someone to escape, you can talk to Lizzie and find out that she doesn't like doing what she does. It's kill or be killed and Nisha keeps her on a short leash and she is forced to do what she does and her being bloodthirsty is all set up so people will fear her and she wants out to live as she pleases or you're able to send her to a settlement of your choice. Also, some of the gang members will try to hunt her down (even when you wipe out the gang). They just re-establish themselves with a different leader somewhere else, regroup and start their blood thirsty reign of terror once agin where you have to deal with them again, but in this instance, make them even more powerful, so the fight isn't as easy.

not to mention that Bethesda really didn't take in count their own Survival difficulty with the DLC. the raider side of quests has you travelling between commonwealth and nuka world multiple times (when setting up raider bases), but since fast travel isn't a thing for survival, you're forced to watch the opening Nuka Express ride each time you enter Nuka World
@jcohasset23
@jcohasset23 2 месяца назад
It would have been nice if there was a way to skip the Nuka Express ride after the first or second time on it as other than looking around there is nothing the player can do until the tram arrives in the station (even if you no-clip out you can't move until the train would reach the station). It really feels like Bethesda was expecting players to just use fast traveling to get everywhere because they understand the maps are just big enough to be a pain to run all the way across each time.

Honestly a post Open Season can involve inviting the Minutemen or faction or factions of your choice in to rebuild the park... The Minutemen would want more secure land for people and look after the freed slaves The Railroad would probably see it as a new safehouse possibility to send Synths The Brotherhood would probably seek to refit it as a weapons manufactory. The Institute would likely see it as a chance to do more experiments (much like Vault Tech in Space Land) So if you have Minutemen and Railroad you can invite both and have both work together to build up the area as a place where humans and Synths live together. (You being a Railroad Heavy, the Minutemen General, and the one who wiped out three raider gangs can ensure no incidents happen) Or maybe as Minutemen General you can stage a full on invasion of Nukaworld instead of entering it normally through the gauntlet (maybe with the Intel from Harvey or the Gunner you mentioned they find a different way in)

Things I would love to see: Assimilate other raider tribes into the Nuka World gangs; Turning The Forged, Rust Devils, Trappers, and maybe even the Gunners / Triggermen. Quest to bring the Hallucinogen gas to the Operators to use in a modified Minuteman Artillery system to certain locations and turn the settlements/targets crazy. Shakedown good neighbor, Bunker hill, and Dimond city for caps, chems, booze, etc. by either threatening them or attacking and eliminating key figures. Faction Rivals: if the minuteman/Brotherhood/Institute/railroad are still around they will actively work against you. More involvement in settling disputes between gang bosses; cast judgement on disobedient raiders type of thing.

I thought a lot about your content on Nuka World. I always felt like the only option that was cohesive with being the lone survivor and defeating the institute was liberating the slaves. There is another way that makes sense! I played as a minuteman general and murder hobo who takes on the responsibility of controlling these nuka gangs. I have a place in my heart for greedy “trying to survive” raiders and “party-till-you-die” raiders, but I have no stomach for blood lust. When the disciples inevitably storm the power plant, I turned on Nisha. I turned on the power and began to spread peace and understanding to the remaining raiders. I paid the settlers to leave the commonwealth spots along the extremes on the map: Coastal Cottage, Somerville, Nordhagen, Lighthouse. (Getting the children to basically disappear from seeing more killing) Greentop Nursey had 1 person living there, so he would supply 1 settlement with food I was paying for. Preston gets mad and says he won’t be your friend anymore, but FINE. He is a bad friend. He gives you things to go do instead of doing much of his own. He’s a bad leader. When he finds out about your nuka settlements, he sends minutemen to DIE fighting your nuka raiders. I took away and scrapped every weapon and armor from the pack and operators in the common wealth. THEY ARE JUST LEARNING to be farmers. And they can still punch the lights out of the minutemen when they attack. Seems like I united the two world rather well. Raider gangs can’t have weapons, but can grow food and have all the chems and booze they want to make. Settlers and minutemen get weapons and armor and can have their freedom.

Personally I really wanted some of the original factions from the base game to have some influence on dlc like in farharbor. And like what you suggest at 10:40 of his turning over a new leaf, I imagine depending on what faction you use to kill the raiders and save the traders will cause Gage to think “hey these guys are quite strong” and ditch the raiders. Imagine gage is gone for a few in game days then you find him as a Minuteman Diplomat, BoS Knight, Railroad Agent or an Institute spy, and he talks about how his new job is basically like the old one but with a few benefits

I always felt that if you had Nuka world installed there should be an option during the When Freedom calls quest where you could side with the Raiders instead of Preston. You do this and they say hey we work for this Coltor guy in Nuka world you should go and meet him..doing this would allow you to skip the gauntlet and the Raiders would more or less replace the minuteman and you be doing the settlement stuff with them without running into the problem of your raiding your own settlements. You probably would work with Coltor for awhile until given the option to overthrow him and become the new overboss and of course there be a new option where you have the choice to have the Raiders fight the instuite. I don't know those were just always my thoughts on the matter.

I agree on Harvey as the lead-in but I think the reason is what you stated: people have to start the quest at a point where VD speech checks are passable unless playing against Charisma entirely. I really think there needed to be a completely alternate quest line where you could recruit NPCs specifically created for the purpose of helping you take out the Raider gangs, liberating Nuka World, and then becoming new soldiers/traders/residents affiliated with Nukatown USA and the various parks. Maybe have perk rewards for that alternative quest line that aren't quite as nice as the Raider gang perks, but which still reward a "good guy" playthrough.

As one of those PC players who is not only not afraid of the all powerful console command, but uses it regularly for precision placement of settlement objects, I used it to dress up the traders at the marketplace with outfits I felt fit (e.g. gave the weapon seller military fatigues & combat armor, Mackenzie a labcoat, etc). Well except the chem seller: As zonked out as he seems to be him wandering around in his skivvies is both thematic & hilarious. I also agree that there was a lot of missing opportunities with the new critters in Nuka World, like I wish you could trap & tame Brahmaluffs & Antelopes & maybe gatorclaws (via the beta wave emitter). The ommission is especially egregious in the case of the Brahmaluffs, because they are mutant variety of Water Buffalo, which are domesticated & used in Southeast Asia for the same purposes that cattle are used in the West. Also agree with some of your points regarding open season & optional single raider ending & Open Season over all. Disagree with Porter being one of the best companions, though, but that is likely because his Darwinistic outlook on life rubs me the wrong way on a genetic level: My great-grandfather was Jewish, and my one grandaunt by marriage was a Holocaust survivor, so I'm all too well aware of where that sort of thinking inevitably leads, and that is part of why Porter is one of two companions who ends up on the "guaranteed to be dead by the end of a playthrough" list for me, the other being the similarly Darwinistic X6-88, but I digress. Also, in my first playthrough, I played along with the raiders until I completed Amoral Combat, but I never did the quest from Shank to start raiding the Commonwealth (I just avoided him after completing the Grand Tour & assigning all the parks to raider gangs), and as soon as I got the Aeternus, I went to Mackenzie, started th Open Season quest, went back to the Commonwealth, picked up Preston & proceeded to wipe out all the raiders in the entire park with him, and Preston never got angry at me & was still best of friends after it was all said & done. The key is that (1) you must not have Preston along when you do "Taken for a Ride" and (2) never plant a raider flag in the Commonwealth prior to starting Open Season, and basically avoid talking to Preston until after you accept the quest from Mackenzie. Still, I'm just glad that there are mods out there like Better Open Season, Nuka World Plus and/or Nuka World Reborn, since they all address many of the issues you mention in this video. I think there is even a mod that lets you get Brahmaluffs & Antelopes for your settlements, because I remember Relly Girl's Castle showcase video had some Brahmaluffs & Antelopes in the farm area of her build (This video was what finally convinced me to get Fallout 4 & start settlement building).

The biggest fix they could have done would be letting you *side with the raiders* to beat the game. Add in quests where your absorbing or eliminating raider gangs in the commonwealth and deploying your raiders in their bases, taking out the BoS with a raider attack (I'm thinking like a ground attack against the airport to steal some virtibirds to take you and a small army of raiders up to the airship to plant a bomb) invade the institute and the railroad. Then eventually take over diamond city and make a Raider State where your the "Raider in chief"

I definitely like these suggestions. As someone who has longed for the chance to be a real baddie in games, I generally like supporting the Raiders, and while I would opt more for all gangs surviving (as it never made sense to me why Colter didn't get the Power Plant turned on before), I could see the case for a single gang option (and that may contribute to WHY Colter didn't get the Power Plant turned on). Mods address this, but making the parks settlements seemed to be a no brainer considering how FO4 was set up with settlements. I think also, if one were to go to Nuka world prior to meeting Preston, then meeting him, dialogue with him you tell him you are Overboss and then dialogue changes where, you can speech check and choose dialogue to support him or refuse him and he and the others become hostile, thereby removing the Minuteman ending, but replacing it with a Raider path for the main game. (That being said, I think the same could be said of Far Harbor factions to a degree and I don't even want to get into how in the main game, your choice is to support the Institute or destroy it; unless of course, mods). I think the part about the creatures highlights something else in that there isn't much reason for the player to explore the different parts of the map. There are all these people, especially Gunners, around the Raider parks but how many come into contact with them, unless they really go out and explore on their own. Most people suggest doing something with the Minutemen to take out the Raiders; I would actually propose that a different option would be something where the SS enlists the support of the various Gunners in and around Nuka World. Maybe they have a different faction name, and are more looking for a base to set up shop and recruit after a falling out with the CW Gunner leadership (and to eventually wage war with them which could be part of the next Fallout game). Among those being an anti-slavery policy so the traders can now stay there being under the protection of this "Gunner" faction, while not having to be slaves. I also like the idea with Gage. I would extend that to Old Longfellow of Far Harbor (would have to be a red speech check as you are nuking his hometown, but you could convince him the people of Far Harbor have grown weak; I never enjoy killing the guy, but Glory to Atom!)

#6 - Post-Open Season game play - park settlement/park tourism; Optional (dependent on completing Open Season) workshops in each of the parks, with appropriate materials to 'repair' local attractions, and tourists (not necessarily settlers) that provide player income. This gives the player a reason (beyond completionism) to open the parks after killing off the raiders. Tie this in with a faction claim system, either park wide or by individual park, which provides guards (again not necessarily settlers) for the park or parks. Post game Open Season, for those who do not wish to become raiders (for whatever reason) at all, leaves only the opening of the individual parks. But, opening the parks is completely optional and gives no benefit beyond the loot that is available. Some might argue that is sufficient, but, from a role-playing perspective (Fallout _is supposed to be_ an RPG, afterall(!)) it is just a very extended self-motivated fetch quest. Once done, you could choose never to revisit, and with a DLC of this size and complexity - that is a severe waste of potential!

For me I think the big things that would have fixed Nukaworld are 1) have turning on the power plant be an available mission once Grand Tour is done instead of having to do Open Season or wait for Power Play as aside from exploring the areas outside of the park there isn't much to do in the park outside of the hub area until the power is on, 2) have the Fizztop Grille be an actual player home that the player can edit even if it means the entire Grille is in an interior cell. The current interior not being connected to the main outside area makes any kind of crafting there tedious, 3) an option to speechcheck Gage during Open Season that has him leave Nukaworld or if the player has his affinity perk a speechcheck that has him willing to side with the player along with improvements to Open Season itself, 4) more stuff to do outside of the park that isn't just a one and done clear- and that could include doing something more with Evan since his place really is in the middle of nowhere, 5) more to do in the parks after clearing them- each park does offer something once the power has been turned on (though Safari Adventure's is bugged and accessible even before and it's possible to get into Dry Rock Gulch's and Galactic Zone's early) but they aren't really worth experiencing more than once, and 6) more for the raiders in the Commonwealth to do (even if it is fun watching them own the BoS while the player is doing a BoS ending even as they control all the settlements as Overboss).

One of my big frustrations with this DLC was the gauntlet itself. The first time I hit this DLC, I was overlevelled for the gauntlet, so it was "eh, whatever, a meatgrinder"; but on the next playthrough, I got one of the Railroad random clear quests from the caretaker that forced me to go to the DLC region to advance the Railroad at level 25ish. So I hit level 30 and tried to slip in and out (forgetting about the grinder). Once you enter the gauntlet, it's a choice between (a)complete this deathtrap, including an absolute bullet sponge of a boss, or (b) load an earlier save and not go anywhere with the faction random location story/radiant quest until you've had a chance to spec yourself out for dealing with it. It was pure frustration, all to arrive at a location and kite some radscorpions in to clear out the residents so that the Caretaker and Railroad would give me a pat on the back and the next quest. The next one in the queue is that it's such a major breakaway from how you've had to play to get there in the first place. You spend 30-40 levels fighting raiders and helping locals, and now to explore this DLC you switch sides?

When you are high level that gauntlet is like "is this even some kinda challenge" few turrets and some traps that you dont even trigger when having right perks, or that when you open door and few grenades pop out that you kinda dodge easily (imagine opening door and letting deathclaw free, that would be mutch more fun)

I agree with all of these. I also wish there was a Minutemen option that wasn't just a "ok, kill all the Raiders by yourself. Good luck!" There are a few mods that make this DLC better, but since they're free mods, they're a bit . . . lacking. Not a dig on the mod authors and the people that helped with them, just saying they don't have the resources Bethesda has and should have used to make the DLC worth it. One of them sees the traders retake the park after Open Season (and plays nice with the Minutemen mod that helps you with that quest). That mod has full voice actor coverage, but unfortunately, since they didn't have access to the original VAs for Nate or Nora, they used recycled dialogue for them, which is . . . a little distracting. I would have preferred they just use the unvoiced version where you read your replies yourself and supply your own internal VA. That mod adds a ton of content, and gives you a reason to return. Unfortunately, it has a broken radiant quest that requires you to return to Nukaworld and help defend it from raids, which is obnoxious, to say the least. But Bethesda shouldn't rely on free modders to fix their games for them. I appreciate that they have a friendly relationship with modders, but it seems like they're taking advantage of them.

The biggest problem with Nuka-World is that only one kind of player character gets to actually use all of it in a coherent way. Some of the ideas you had about playing the gangs off each other before hunting them all down would absolutely work, but honestly even just having a character like Chip Morse ask the player to clear out the other parks and restart the power plant after Open Season has been done would do the trick. Like he in particular is so passionate about the park and wants to see it lit up, but won't actually ask you for help unless you're literally keeping him in slavery, I just don't get it. And it's not like the traders would have no use for the other parks or setting up the whole area as a fortress. Yeah it would require making a whole alternate main quest for the dlc, but imo even just a watered down version with almost identical quests and no radiant quests that ends after the power goes on would be good enough. Sure you can go do the individual park quests on your own if you want, but theres never an in-universe, in-character reason to do so past I guess slight curiosity, when it would've been so easy to just add/change a couple voice lines to say "hey I'd love to see the park up and running again, could you go do these quests that are already in the game?" Also, side thing, but I get the feeling online people don't like the Pack as much as the other two gangs. Honestly, giving them more than the one named character would've been nice, but they're actually my favorite. When I'm playing a raider overboss, they're just a lot more loyal than the others which I like. So long as you don't tread on his toes and treat his gang well, Mason can be downright nice to you. Like the other gangs can be cooperative too don't get me wrong, but do any of them kill their underlings who naysay you? That's the sort of lieutenant I want if I'm a power-hungry raider if I'm being honest, and the gang itself is probably the least underhanded out of the lot. I mean they're still cutthroat, obviously, but next to the "the only rule is don't get caught" Disciples and the subtle and savvy Operators, the Pack kinda has to win that contest by default. Less likely to ambitiously betray you, or if they do, at least easier to see it coming.

I think Gage should have been treated like Wrex in ME1. Like Gage, Wrex is loyal to something that goes beyond your leadership, his people. And when confronted with his people's survival, he turns against you. Through not just speech checks but also affinity with you and doing his own personal quests, you can make Wrex stand down and agree with you. It's very easy to see how Gage should have been handled the same way, especially since Charisma 1 characters could still keep Gage in such a situation.

Why does Preston Garvey forgive your raider past if you do Nuka-World first, but not if you do Open Season after alienating him? There's a pretty simple in-game reason that would explain it: When you literally fulfill Mama Murphy's prophecy and save him and the rest of the folks in the museum, you fully become a savior figure in Preston's mind. He rushes to appoint you the new General of the Minutemen because he's put you up on a pedestal and vested all his hopes in you. *Nothing* you did *before* that moment will deter him from idolizing you. You could already be Railroad agent synth-spympathizer, a Brotherhood of Steel techno-fascist slapping your shiny metal dick all over the Commonwealth, an Institute operative -- he won't care. But if you break his fantasy of you as a perfect paragon of hope for the restoration of the Minutemen and the redemption of every failure he thinks he's guilty of and every death he thinks he's caused, all of that adoration turns to ash and he will 100% never forgive you for that. That makes perfect sense given how irrationally he builds you up in the first place.

By the time I entered the Nuka World area, I had already built up most of the settlements in the Commonwealth. So I had spent a lot of time and effort creating a network of functioning settlements, with supply lines in between them, and equipping some NPCs with better armor and weapons. In a sense, I felt like I was the ruler of the Commonwealth, so it made no sense to me that the game wanted me to attack my own "kingdom". Open Season was the only option for me. I might try a playthrough were I go all in with the raider stuff, without bothering with the settlements.

Preston will forgive Nuka World as long as you delay accepting command of the Minutemen until you have completed Open Season. You can set up Sanctuary, but can’t take him as a companion. You can pursue Nuka World all the way to the end as long as you kill the gangs afterward. That’s really the most enjoyable way to do it, you get the Nuka World gang quests, but aren’t raider scum at the end. That said, it kind of sucks not being able to take Preston as a companion until that late. You have to be pretty high level to complete Nuka World this way.

The one biggest issue I DO have with the DLC is that the most fleshed out ending for a game/DLC tends to be the canonical one.... Where is the least fleshed out ending in this one is where your character doesn't end up as a raider boss which I just can't imagine after your character joins and works for any of the main factions in Fallout 4.

Usually by the time I get to nukaworld I own most of the common wealth settlements and I'm not going to raid my own stuff. The first time I did nukaworld I cleared the parks giving them to the gangs and then did open season rather than give them settlements. The second time, I left the gauntlet shooting and killed all the raiders from the start. Granted I'd love an option to help the minutemen take back nuka world or other ways to complete it that's for sure.
