I recently spoke with Dr. Casey Means, the Stanford-trained physician who's been a champion for metabolic health.
In this video, she makes the powerful connection between diet and the health of our cells. Dr. Means argues that all disease can be traced back to dysfunction at the cellular level.
But fear not, she empowers us with the 5 key dietary components we need for optimal cellular function, how you can incorporate them into your meals and daily life, and the specific foods that fuel her own kitchen.

I like only a few podcast, because I don't listen to a lot. But what I like a lot about Dr. Lyon's podcast. Is that she lets her guest be the star. It doesn't matter what she may or may not disagree with. What matters is your guest. Listening and only asking questions for clarification. Clarification for your listeners and possibly yourself. While at the same time maybe learning something new yourself. Keep up the great work in your podcast and letting your guest be the stars

DR Gabrielle . You are my favorite broadcast I watch you all the time . Now are you agree with her diet . Those beans veggies , legumins full of Lectins and raspberries coco powder where there is pact of oxalates . You think we should have those things in our diet ? I am 95 % carnivore but one day of the week ,most Saturday I have bowl of Blueberries topping with blend of Kefir o ,yogurt with Vanilla whey pertain spirulina , sweet with little allulose

If antioxidants are the add in. What would be the take away of oxidative stress? I find it's easier to not put something in that requires me to add something to counter that. What about coffee as an antioxidant? I didn't hear it mentioned and wonder if it was left out for a reason.🤔 This was an interesting break down. I'm also curious about how to achieve this on a carnivore diet, if possible.✌🏼

I’m not poor, but it’s so nice that you can afford all those sustainable wild meats. I can afford crack expensive pasture raised eggs, But sad that you don’t think that they’re worth it.

Think her point was just that at 6g per egg you need to eat lots of them at a time (four or more to ensure passing the minimum 20g per meal to generate muscle protein synthesis). Eggs are excellent and have omega three when free range

I didn't get the relationship between the opening argument, i.e. cellular biology and the 5 components. Protein is important, for sure, anti-oxidants? why would we need that if we can avoid the oxidated stress? Dr Means, I would suggest you research and don't assume oxidated stress is a given. Fibre is used by gut bacteria but I am not sure what benefit it will bring if we can get those short chain fatty acid from animal food source. Principally, our species existed for 2 million years and we are now starting to complicate these with all kinds of isolated ingredients. if you add them together artificially you are going to do a poor job when you compare them with natural products, that will be fatty meat, if you don't understand this you need to watch one season of Alone.

I haven't done the research, but how could oxidative stress not be a given? We live in an oxygen-rich environment and our cellular processes involve the use of oxygen, so I don't see how we can completely avoid oxidative stress. It just seems like common sense. I could be wrong though.

@@imageword5576 @imageword5576 What I mean is excess oxidation. We are designed to age at a natural rate if we were to eat FOOD. Carbs in the 1 million years before agriculture is survival food, we sacrifice oxidation for survival. If you watch Alone on History channel which mimics our ancestral situation, you will see nature has very limited carbs and all contestants will need to find animal fat to survive. This is the proof even today if we were let in wildness our instinct will tell us what to eat. Anti-oxidant plants contains a lot of other things which we may be poorly adapted to deal with, so I would say avoid those and go back to our roots.

Our species has been eating a ton of fiber the whole of our existence. Where do you get that humans only subsisted on meat alone? Go find the evidence. Good luck

why do you eat fiber since it's not considered a macro-nutrient? do you digest fiber? i guess not...do you consider anti-nutrients in the seeds?
