In Montana we get avalanches but rarely does anyone die because avalanches are predictable. They occur in the same places and cover the same territory basically every time making what they call the avalanche zone. Those guys in Patagonia knew exactly where to film and stand, at the edge of the zone, before the avalanche started, probably by blast caps.
