I dunno that I agree with you on the 'womanly' thing (that could mean anything anyway) but I often see women - young and old - as I'm out and about and find myself thinking: it's such a shame they don't have better role-models than celebs and the fashion industry; no wonder they're so confused about their style and end up wearing some very bizarre combinations (not to mention fall for some tragic fashion pieces eg. that trend that has patches of sheer material scattered through opaque - point factor??? doesn't even look good so what is the POINT of that? I feel like we're revisiting the 80s and that was a TRAGIC fashion era - and I can say that without bias cos I grew up in the 80s, should've been 60s or 70s). Then I see women like this posting good style tips and I feel there is hope 😊

Hudson1910 I did that 2 years ago & it was the very best thing! I had a huge closet overflowing, but never could find something to wear that made me feel good. Now I have a moderate amount of clothing (never will be a minimalist😉) but, I can walk in & find something I love to wear in mere minutes & be ready. I do keep a list of items I feel I’m missing, so if shopping I look for them. Good luck to you!

I wonder if you have feet problems like I do. My podiatrist says he thoroughly approves of me wearing boots cos they support the foot better. Maybe that's why you have more boots than shoes? You may have instinctively gravitated towards them because on a subconscious level you realise they support your foot better

@@susie9893 I do have feet problems. One leg is slightly longer than the other by a centimeter, which causes the longer leg to press into one of my feet and make it more flat. My doctor said to alternate heel Heights when I can. Like wear flats one day, wear heels another day. I had my graduation ceremony yesterday, and I wore my Italian leather wedges and they are very comfortable, but because we had to stand for such a long period of time, my ankles were still hurting me and these are comfortable shoes don't forget so that's saying a lot

Yes, I love that kinda thing but in the past bags I've bought like that haven't lasted well. However, they're now making similar styles with hemp that are really durable! I have one I love - works as a shopping bag, a beach bag, a casual handbag - it's great. If you can't find that bag maybe consider looking around for a hemp bag at an eco store. I got mine at my local healthfood shop 😏

I have always been a people pleaser, and I try to not offend people. I’m kind of a sensitive person and understand how it feels to have feelings hurt, and I don’t want others to feel upset or sad. I am a family therapist by trade and my philosophy is for people to strive to be their best selves, so I guess I try to encourage people to be successful when I can. 😁

Yes, we also in Oz would go for a boot instead but I find this an intriguing idea. Especially for warmer weather as I have to have shoes that can fit a rather wide orthotic and one cannot always wear joggers or Birkenstocks (the only sandals I'm allowed to wear).

@@katehochbaum8941 yeah those shoes aren't for people who actually have significant podiatry issues. They need MORE support not less. Birkenstocks are good

I have same problem and in fact I get pain the minute I TRY to wear ballet flats (seriously, I walked around in them for less than a min and realised i needed to give up on the idea) so I assume my feet are worse than yours but my podiatrist approves Birkenstocks. Not ideal I know (I still get occasional 'cute shoe envy') but better & cooler than sneakers (for summer) and better for your feet than ballet flats. And really comfortable once you get used to them - I can hike in them all day without problems. I have (out of lots of pairs) a pair with shiny off-white straps that I can wear out to dinner etc during summer - never been knocked back yet (and if I did I'd just use the podiatrist prescribed excuse - cos they are). Some fashion bloggers say that metallics immediately elevate a look - these are shiny so I think that's why they look a bit dressy. Maybe you could find a style of Birkenstocks that suits your foot and buy it in a variety of metallics. This might satisfy your need for style for a while, while you're working to improve your feet. If you comply completely with treatment and lose weight the condition is supposed to improve in time - mine are certainly better than they used to be - I don't hobble around anymore and hardly ever have pain (hence the trying on a pair of ballet flats recently). I am hopeful, at some future date, to wear cute shoes again PS. No I'm not made out of money to own so many pairs of Birkenstocks. If you hunt online you can find websites in Europe where you can get them significantly reduced and if you buy several pairs at once you can offset shipping costs. I bought 6prs at once (several years ago) and worked out I spent an average of $22AUD ea pr including shipping. You just need to be completely sure of your size (I already had 1pr I'd pretty much worn to death). Also, many ppl don't like Birkenstocks cos they dismiss them as always being an ugly chunky shoe but ppl rocking that look on Instagram etc are OPTING for that look. If you have a thin foot they sell limited lines of slimfit options (and sometimes at significantly reduced $ after a while, due to limited clientele). Or if you have a small foot you might be able to buy a child's size (my sister-in-law does that and always gets them SO cheap, like in STORE). If you do buy online from a sale retailer be aware it's just like shopping a sale in a store - you're gonna see lots of styles you love that aren't available in your size or the color you want, just be patient, there'll be LOTS of options to go thru, I'm sure you'll find at least a few pairs you like eventually, it just might take a couple of hours.

I find the pitch fine (but other videos on RU-vid I find it best to watch on my phone or tablet and plug in my headphones); however, the voice was out of sync with the picture on this one and perhaps this is why you struggled - many people don't realize their hearing is worsening because they compensate so well by lip-reading and don't even know they're doing it. Perhaps this is becoming a problem for you?

I am the same, I need shoes to be comfortable as a priority, but I never wear running shoes because I don't find them comfortable. I do like sandals, they keep my feet very comfortable. Also Sketchers, which are a bit like ballet pumps with a trainer sole, but for walking any kind of distance I find only the most comfortable sandals don't hurt my feet. I could never wear high heels of any kind. I love elegant fitted dresses that probably are dressed down by the sandals I wear. I have a pair of typical black leather ballet pumps too that I love, but for any kind of serious walking just wouldn't wear them; I would only wear them outside if I knew I didn't have to walk in them much.

Have you heard of Tieks shoes? Tieks are handmade full grain italian leather. You can buy it online only but they have great return policy. They are the most comfortable ballet shoes I've ever tried. My first pair my husband gave it to me last Feb 2017 and I took it to capri and walked 17,000 steps in one day. No break in period, no pain, no blister and I have plantar fasciitis. Since that time I have gotten rid of my other flats and I wear only Tieks now. And I have more than a dozen already in different beautiful colors :)

Kris Door+ Also try Birkenstock, as they have different styles (they don't look old womanish), Sperry has casual shoes (they're boat shoes, but they look nice). If you're not sure about the level of comfort...make sure you have inserts (gel or not).

Well I dunno about ladies of the night but I always associate red ballet flats with the enchanted dancing shoes from the fairy tale. But this provides a sense of whimsy and nostalgia that works well for me. PS. I've NEVER seen a lady of the night wearing flat-soled ANYTHING 🤔🤭 Am I missing something??
