I homeschooled my senior year of HS so that I could work full time and it was an amazing decision. I’m now in nursing school and getting ready to move across the country. I know a lot of parents are stressed about how this new style of learning may affect their kids, but trust me, it’s so great to be able to learn on your own terms so that you can move things along faster or slower to really help you understand things and you have more time for other things in life. Your kids will do amazing things one day. It’ll all be okay.

My grandma told me that when she was a young mom and struggling with 3 kids in line at a store and older women in line told her "I would rather have them step on my toes than step on my heart" and that always stuck with her and now with me. Even though it can be overwhelming and stressful our children will be grown in the blink of an eye and we will wish more than anything to come back to these times 🙂

I was really encouraged when you talked about how parents are their child's first teachers and so that makes us uniquely qualified!

My biggest advice is "progress, not perfection." I didn't come up with this, however, this is my favorite saying ever since I first heard it and it applies to so many situations in life.
@aspendroesch7585

The best advice I’ve received so far is this: You have been teaching your children since the day they were born. You taught them how to walk, to talk, to use the potty. Children are made to learn (they are little sponges) and you were made to teach them. Don’t sweat the specifics (like fractions or state capitals). Trust yourself and trust the process (the raising of life long learners). It won’t be perfect but it can be good. 💜 Much love (and luck) to all the families out there who are having to find a new balance and rhythm. I’ve felt joy, pain, anxiousness, exhaustion, excitement, and cautious optimism today (and I’ve only been up for a few hours)... If you’re feeling the same, I’m pretty sure that’s normal 😊

Every day will look different. That's the beauty of spending this cherished time with your kiddos. The simple goal at the end of each day should be that you connected with your children. That connection is THE most important thing you can do each day.

My encouraging advice: get the term "getting behind" out of your mind because there is no behind. Oh, and don't feed into the consumerism, especially if you are struggling financially or have other financial goals - the many books, the various curriculum, and the gadgets/clothes aren't needed.

I’m a mama of four kiddos. Three of them are homeschooling with me this year. I find my biggest encouragement in knowing that God is always working through every situation. And I’m just trying to keep a thankful mindset because any extra time we get to focus on training up our kids a blessing.

I was just reminded of some encouraging words I've heard a lot recently. You are your child's first teacher. You teach them how to eat with a spoon, how to use the potty, how to treat others and themselves with kindness and respect. Academics are the easy part. You've got this!

The best encouragement I have heard is something that has already been mentioned but I will echo. You have already been teaching your child! You taught them to talk and walk. Also I always remind myself and my child, he is human just like me, and we all make mistakes, have bad days, and have accidents and emotions.

I have a card that someone gave me when I had my youngest daughter that says “Mom, you are a SUPERHERO, period.” I think this is so true. As a mom, I’ve done more then I ever thought I possibly could and have gave more then I ever thought I had to give. Moms keep going no matter what.

The best advice/encouragement that I was ever given is we as their parents have the best intentions for our children. We have been teaching them since they were born and we are capable of continuing those teachings from walking, talking, riding a bike, counting, ABCs, color recognition, and etc. we just build on these aspects as the years go on.

What really encouraged me to take the leap of faith into reimagine my role as a mother and moving toward a homeschooling position is the simple statement: you can do it. I’ve heard it multiple times and it’s so simple but it really helped me have the confidence to believe that and start diving into curriculum options, learning styles, teaching styles, etc. I feel more and more confident the closer I get to starting.

We got this! This is my first year homeschooling. I made the decision in July while waiting to hear what our local public and private school were planning on doing for the Fall. I was tired of waiting, so I took control of my children’s education and started researching homeschool. It’s been on my heart since my oldest was in Kindergarten (now in 6th grade). I’m so happy I found Angela and a handful of other homeschooling veterans to binge watch while on the treadmill. They have made me feel like I can do this!! So to all the other newbies out there, We got this!! Have faith, grace and enjoy the journey! I’ll have to keep reminding myself of that as well 😉

As my first year homeschooling, all the encouraging comments are so nice and helpful! My encouragement would be in general for everyone, no matter how your kiddos are doing school: follow your heart. YOU know your children more than anyone else. You know what they need and what’s best for them. Don’t be afraid to change the “rules” and do things differently. If that’s what works for your family, then that’s all that matters. You can do this!

Sometimes life gets difficult but I remind myself I can do difficult things. I've gone through them in the past and survived to better days. Also when things seem scary look for the helpers. There are always people who help during troubling times. I love all three of your channels and have been a follower of them for awhile. So thankful for each of you ladies sharing your lives here to inspire other mothers.

I'm so encouraged by all of the previous comments! I don't feel qualified to say much since my oldest kids are just starting Kindergarten this year. Something I often say to my kids at bedtime (especially after rough days) is "tomorrow is a new day and we can have a new start tomorrow." I also need to be reminded that when I am short with my kids (losing my temper when things don't go according to MY plan- and they rarely do- that "His mercies are new every morning". I am encouraged to hear that many of you have also experienced failures and hard days with schooling your kids at home and that we can all be in this together.

Love watching these videos! I have been homeschooling for 5 years but feel like I am still learning new things from you. If you are just starting homeschooling, it is a journey. I am still learning after 5 years of homeschooling. One thing that has been encouraging to me is seeing friends who are a stage ahead of me with kids that graduated from homeschooling and are successful. It shows me that it CAN be done and if they can, I can too. They will get there! Give yourself grace!

This is wonderful time to model for our children what it looks like to walk through uncertainty, and to hold each other up in the process. I think as parents we get caught in the belief that we have to know it all. It’s ok to say “I don’t know what this school year will look like but I know we will do it together.” What a gift of resilience and strength for our children. We’ve got this!

The best advice that I have been given, and that I love to pass on is that YOU ARE CAPABLE! You are so capable to teach your own children, you have been teaching them since they day they were born. Children are natural little learners, they are naturally asking questions and wanting to discover new things. Just encourage that, give them the ability and encouragement to follow those paths that interest them. To be able to instill that love of learning at a young age is important and makes the rest of your years of teaching them much easier.

This will be my fifth year of homeschooling and I have definitely had my share of really rough days. I have learned, though, that the moment your child learns a new concept or gets excited about something they have learned, the difficult times melt away. Seeing my daughter go from a struggling reader to becoming more confident has been wonderful!

I am already a member of your group (and I am loving all of it!), but I just want to tell others that whatever their schooling looks like this year, never forget you are unique, your children are unique, and there is enough of God's grace to cover every nook and cranny of your life. This is my first year homeschooling and my best bit of encouragement came from one of your videos, Angela, so I’d love to share it with anyone who didn’t hear it. I was so sure that I wasn’t capable of being my son’s teacher. I don’t have a degree in education and was unable to finish my bachelor’s degree, but one of your videos was a great reminder that I have already been teaching him since the day he was born. I was his first teacher before he ever set foot in a school and I know him better than anyone. If I could do that, then schooling him will be just fine. Ever since I heard that, I gained more confidence and am so excited to start our journey! Thank you for everything you do and I hope this helps someone who may be unsure. This will be an amazing year, no matter how you’re schooling your children! ❤️

My encouragement is to remember that if you can teach your child/children to walk and talk, academically educating him/them is just the next step in him/them becoming adults. Yes teaching your child can be hard, weather it tying their shoes or long division. Just take it one step at a time because them small efforts made day in and day out add up to great progress and success. Thanks for sharing! I always love back to school week on RU-vid!

Thank you so much! This is our first week of homeschool ever and we did every single thing that you mentioned and it went really well. My daughter is in 6th grade and was starting middle school. She was initially disappointed about not returning, but I included her in the planning process and we chose her elective subjects together and she quickly became very excited for the journey. I agree that it’s important to make the first day special and follow those traditions that many public school families do as well, like the clothes and photos. Ease into it and expect that things may not go as smoothly as you plan (especially if you’re like me and have a little one demanding attention at all times). Be flexible and know that it’s okay and that whatever it is can usually wait until later if you encounter interruptions. Thank you again for all of your wonderful content! Your videos have been so helpful to me as I’ve embarked on this journey. 💕

I want to encourage all you mama's out there to go with your gut. In my motherhood journey I have struggled with endlessly researching trying to find the "right" or the "best" way. While there is certainly value in learning and observing others at the end of the day nobody knows your kiddo better than you mama. Nobody knows what your learner and you and your family can tolerate and manage better than you. Hear others out but always follow your gut. You know what's right, don't doubt yourself!

I’m beyond excited to be starting our first year of homeschool this year. I have dreamed of this forever and my oldest is starting kindergarten! I think my words of encouragement are that there is no better teacher for your children than you! You know them best, you love them, you are invested in their future. And the other piece of advice is that if something isn’t working, stop, take a break and reassess. Maybe it’s too advanced, maybe too easy or maybe it’s just not your child’s learning style. Be flexible, be free!

This will be my first year homeschooling full time (My son did 2 years with him going to in class studies 2x a week) and my best advice is be kind to your self. Have grace for your mistakes and patience with your kiddos. If something isn't working, change it up. Take a break. Nothing is set in stone. And knowing that some days are going to be better than others, have that flexibility to do what is best for yourself and them!

I was so anxious about doing "School from home" and then possibly transitioning to Homeschooling. Angela's videos and these during Back to School week in particular have helped so much to calm my spirit and help me get prepared and in the right mind set to tackle it! Love your videos!

Kids can naturally be enthusiastic about learning and will learn so much by following their interests too. Last year I switched my planning from having a rigid "to do" list every day, and instead wrote down what we completed by the end of each day. When you write everything down it's so encouraging to look back and see what everyone has accomplished :) even when it doesn't go as planned :)

I am brand new to all of this and dont have many words of encouragement other them remember that you love and adore your children because some days we can go a bit hard on them and forget that it is not about the lessons or the worksheets it's about having more time to shape our child ♡

Lead with that you love! Your excitement and passion will be contagious to your kids. And trust the process, you'll often feel like you're "failing" but look for the moments of breakthrough and know that your kids are learning and Thriving because you know them best and you can do it mama!

My daughter was so excited about picking out her first day of school dress. I use free prints app and print out stuff every month and made my kids a scrap book. They love them. They can go back and look at all the old photos. Just remember to give grace to yourself and your kids.

My encouragement for anyone watching this is: Just remember that the same God who created the mountains and oceans and galaxies looked at this world and thought it needed one of you as well ❤and the fact that you are reading this means that God still has a plan for you, so trust the process and keep on going on 👌🏼💪🏼

The most encouraging advice I have ever received was that when a child is ready they will flourish. It can be so hard when you think your child is falling behind or they aren't geasping a concept, but I just take a step back to work on something else and we revisit it later. Nine times out of ten they have got it in a snap the second or third time around.

First year homeschooling we just finished our first week today. Best advice I've heard is that you were your child's first teacher. Also it doesnt have to be perfect. One kid had a really rough day today and just couldn't get focused so we just did a few things and will pick up the rest on monday. So the second best piece of advice is it doesnt have to be perfect and be flexible...after all that's one major perk of homeschool! I have been following Farmhouse on boone and minimal mom for almost a year and recently just found you...super excited about the Facebook group!!

Something that has encouraged me is knowing that I am enough! I know my kids, I know how to talk to them, how to encourage them, how to teach them. They are mine and I can teach them and find the best resources to help them learn.. There is nobody out there that wants the best for my kids than me. So be confident in your choices mama, they will do great!

What I've learned so far is that we need to have plenty of patience, grace and love not only for our kids but for ourselves as well!

No one knows your children better than you! I’m new to homeschooling this year, but I am confident it will be successful because I know my kids. At the core of all homeschooling parents is the goal to make school better for your kids. You got this! I got this! We all got this!

I had a conversation with my oldest son how we won't all be together like this forever. They will all grow up and move and live with purpose. Being able to share each day together is so special and won't be forever. Nothing is. I cherish the moments I have with them and I feel honored and blessed that I have been able to stay at home with them. We learn every single day. Treating each other with kindness and courtesy is something all children need to learn first and foremost. We will all be fine and we will do the best we can homeschooling! 👍🙂

All the bits of encouragement are so awesome! I guess something that helps me and I am constantly being reminded of is not to compare how you do school with how anyone else does school. You do school how you and your family needs school to be done. Things begin to fall apart very quickly whenever I find myself trying to do things because I saw someone else doing this or that. Trust yourself. You know what works best for YOU and your family. 😁

I'm really good at telling myself that I can't do things a lot of times, but I'd encourage everyone to keep telling yourself that you can do this. Even just saying those words makes it easier to have a positive attitude about yourself, and you start to believe it. It also makes it easier to get to work and do the hard things.

I'm so encouraged by the start of our homeschooling journey. It's been full of highs and lows already but the highs always always outweigh the low points.

My encouragement to all who are entering a new year of unknown in hard times: take it one day at a time and don't get down thinking too far down the road when you never know what tomorrow will bring. Take time to find one thing that makes you happy everyday and be thankful for it.

All of your tips were great!! Tip number 5 will help how many people have a smoother school year if they heed it!! Parents, you can do this! We're in our 17th year of homeschooling and it's one of the hardest things I've ever done but one of the best!! it's such a blessing to get to see your children learning and those aha moments, you're going to love it! Don't be discouraged if kids are having a hard time or aren't as into it as you are. Just press on and they'll come around! Enjoy!

What a great idea! I was so intimidated when I first started homeschooling my kiddos. It was so encouraging to me when I realized that we can all have different styles of homeschooling and that it’s okay to homeschool the way that works for you and your family. Realizing that there is no right or wrong way to homeschool, was like a weight lifted from my shoulders.

My 2 favorite encouraging phrases are "You are not alone" and "The days pass slowly but the years pass quickly". Its ok to feel discouraged or unsure we've all felt that look at the bigger picture each day is a new start.

Every child and family is different. It's so nice easy to compare to what you see others online or around you doing, but find what truly works for you and go from there. I was a teacher, and even teachers have to readapt year to year or month to month to find the best fit for helping the children, so don't be afraid to scrap what doesn't work and try something new.

My encouragement tip is for the new homeschooling Mamas like myself. Just go in knowing that this year is all about learning. I’m only on week 3 and I have already learned so much. I’m taking it one day at a time and loving it. If I can do it so can you.

My encouragement (for many things) is to always think --what's the worst thing that could happen? what's the worst case scenario. And it's usually never as bad and my anxiety or worrying makes it seem. Being successful is many times in the eye of the beholder. We got this. Also HI...it's my first year homeschooling and we're off to a good start. I have been obsessively watching your videos and they are so informative! Love having YOU as a resource. Thanks Mama!

This week of videos has been just what I needed. You are so inspiring to me, and I am so grateful for you and your sweet family. Some people have been making feel bad about being excited to home school, and this youtube community has really been my main source of encouragement and support. No matter what, I can't deny the peace I have been given about my decision and I know that this is what's best for my family and that this is going to be a great year.

I love the idea of taking a photo of your kiddo and a book that they finished reading. My son struggles with reading but he loves taking photos,so maybe just maybe that will encourage him to read more. Good luck to all the mommas and Kiddos who are starting school again, here in South Africa we are in the last four months of our schoolyear. We homeschool as well and I love it.

I am a new homeschooling Mama, and am apart of the Simple Home and Homeschools Group and it really is amazing! I have found so much information, ideas, peace, and comfort just in the short time it has been going! I would say to anyone who is thinking of or is homeschooling: You can do it!!! You really can!!! It doesn’t have to be complicated, perfect, or how anyone else is doing it. It is all your own and that is what makes it beautiful and rewarding, and worth all the effort and time you put into it 💓 And watch all of Angela’s videos and you will be good to go 😅
