Poutine is generally tops for me but enjoying Nanaimo Bars on a warm afternoon OR (for adults) on a cold evening with the fire going and a glass of your favorite alcoholic beverage (I like them with either port or Canadian whiskey). If there's a #6...I'm looking forward to enjoying my first Beavertails this coming year. 8 times in Canada and never had one yet, can you believe it!
I'm U.S American (latino) born and raised , but i can honestly say that Canada, and Canadians should be the leader and example of this planet , i have nothing but respect towards Canadians.
Jacob Miller Yup ;) Trump is our Tom Brady of America! I feel bad for you guys tho. I hope you guys select a better PM for next year in Canadian Parliament. 👍
this is so spot on. i agree that we canadians love these foods. it boggles me why they're not popular all over the world. it's literally the best food.
Nice! It is surprising that at least some of these haven't made their way more globally. Although I did find a poutine place in Melbourne once...not the same though without real cheese curds though haha 🧀
Canadians seem really similar to New Zealanders. We are always saying sorry. I found Canadians friendly and helpful when a visited a few years ago. I've heard that Australia is more like the states.
Wow, that's such great timing! Welcome to London! I hope you enjoy living there and trying all these foods. Let me know which you like best and please feel free to write me for any other London tips - it's my hometown :) My email is eileenaldis@gmail.com
It was, Eduardo! Those are both such good suggestions. We realized when we got thinking about it that we could easily make this a whole series....maybe those can be in a part 2?!
It seems that canadian food is somewhat equal to 'junk'/'candy food, and that is great because I love junk food. Inlcude also timmys (timbits, maple boston cream, etc.) in a later video on Canadian food... I will be looking forward to watch it
I would agree. Any food that's some combination of savory, smoky, salty, sweet. Any or all five of their top 5 hit on this formula and I agree Beaver Tails and maple syrup would be great here as well. Looking fwd to my QC trip for tourtière, smoked meat, poutine, Sortilege, etc.
London pride! I LOVE poutine with chicken shawarma! I had some at the CNE, and it was delicious! I love Smoke's! Love all those "Sore-ries!" Like when you go to Canadaland at Epcot -- we're really like that! Maple Leafs everywhere! I had no idea that Tiger ice cream existed, let alone was Canadian. I'll have to try some the next time I visit London. Love this video! So much fun to see you two in Canada!
Thanks, Liz! Woooo London ;) I LOVE all the international pavilions at Epcot. We had such a fun time there. Hope you enjoy Tiger Tail if you give it a shot!
Hello Eileen, I must say that I am in love with your channel, every video is of an amazing quality, until you take the time to put subtitles in Spanish. Your channel should have a million subscribers. Greetings from Mexico.
Wow, thank you so much! That's amazing to hear and totally makes my day :) Very happy to hear you enjoy our videos! We're so grateful to have a wonderful viewer (who has since become a friend!) help us with Spanish subtitles. Greetings to you and thanks again!
Fun Fact- Nanaimo bars are originality from Vancouver island in a town called Nanaimo Yes I’m Canadian and live in Vancouver island and Ketchup chips are AWESOME
Meat pies , sugar pies , Coffee crisp , Wunder Bar, Smarties, Aero Bar and a Nestle KitKat , not a Hershey KitKat . Buy more Coffee Crisp ,due to the fact , they may cancel it .
This food looks amazing! The last time my family and I were in Canada we truly enjoyed their food and I wish I would have made videos then and reviewed! Have to definitely try these places the next time we visit!
Oh man- the Merla Mae!! I didn't know you were from London! I lived there when I was a kid and we spent many summer nights eating dipped cones at the Marla Mae :) Too awesome! XX
You grew up in London?! That's crazy! What a small world. Happy you also have fond memories of the dipped cones there :) I'm sure we must have other London memory crossover! x
This video came up on a the sidebar while I was watching another video. I really wanted to see what you think people should try when they come to Canada and then BAM you're from my hometown. 😂 In the brief moments before you started talking I thought the park in the background looked familiar! haha I live in England now, so it was nice to watch this and have some hometown and homeland familiarity! You've really made me crave a poutine now!
Hey Eileen! I've been here about three months now. I live in a town about an hour north of London, but I am still trying to figure out where I want to settle. I'm considering Liverpool! My mum just sent me a package actually and i've got a bag of ketchup chips that's calling my name.👌🏻
That's fun that you're figuring out your next move! 🇬🇧 I love England - have never been to Liverpool though! That's so awesome that your Mom sent a care package. Enjoy those ketchup chips....now I'm craving some too haha 🤤
Ahh, I may have seen & thinking of this video, when Marc described the poutine as "squidgy", just like you did in the Belarus-food video to call the Babka "squidgy",.. That's too funny. THe Nanaimo bars are very much something that has to be exclusively Canadian, as I'm betting most anyone in the US hasn't heard of them, unless having spent time visiting around up there. Butter Tarts are yet another dessert that we've never heard of, being south of the border of there. Finally, your 'Tiger Tail' ice cream, sounds interesting, but as I'm totally not a fan of black licorice, so debatable to want to try it. I'd try a very small spoon of it once I think but that's it. Anyway, I loved watching the video. Take care.
It's too bad the ketchup chips never made it/became popular down here in the US as well. It might be pretty enjoyable by those of us, to the immediate south of there. PS, too funny, from what was said on the topic of butter tarts, starting with: "most people, who are normal", .at the 5:20 point, that's just super funny for this video.. lol.
I am Canadian and i am literally eating poutine while watching this. Also I’m going thru the comments and i saw so many comments like “poutine á tarte paurè 🙄😒” like what the heck does that mean
Proper poutine is made with fresh cheese curds. Fresh cheese curds, are illegal in US as cheese must be aged 60 days or more to kill the bacteria in the US. So poutine is essentially illegal in the US.
haha I don't know about beaver tails for breakfast but those are both excellent ideas for a part 2 of this video. Maybe need a whole video dedicated to Timmie's though 🇨🇦
It looks good and all that but I still dont preferably like canada because of the people a lot of them are nice but if you go on social media apps you'll see a difference in them especially the younger generation
Thanks for taking time and reply I was just wondering if there are better Canadian foods to introduce than potato chips You and your partner how ever are amazing Gl And I hope to see more of you guys
yes there are. I was born and raised in newfoundland are cuisine is far differnet. She chose stereotypical stuff. to find other canadian foods u really have to go to rural areas
Maple balsamic vinaigrette Maple Habanero Salsa Maple Chipotle Barbecue sauce Maple Jalapeño Cheese Cream Dip Maple Fruit of the Forest Jam Maple Citrus Marmalade Maple Poached Sausages Maple Planked Salmon Maple Taffy Your Butter Cakes filled with Maple See a theme?’ There is a Maple Bubba Gump.
Had to Google about ice cream. Origin from Canada and only Canada serves it. On my bucket list when I come up again wish I knew last time I went 😉 ty for sharing. I'm such a foodie I git to try everything in other countries 🤣
Hey Mandy! I hope you enjoy Tiger Tail when you try it! As you said next time you come "up" I assume you're from the US :) Whereabouts do you call home?
I'm a Canadian and I've never had poutine. Growing up on the west coast it just wasn't a thing and now that I'm older I'm more conscious of what I eat. Having said that, the poutine at Popeyes Louisiana Chicken would be the one I'd try if I wasn't in Quebec.
