This brought back wonderful memories visiting my dear friends in Ontario. On my visits, I managed to try many Canadian treats: poutine, beavertails, butter tarts, Tim Horton's maple iced donuts, ketchup chips, nanaimo bars, coffee crisps, Mackintosh bars, milk in bags, and more. And I actually had a chance to smoke a Cuban cigar before attending a Blue Jays game. I occasionally order treats online and am awaiting a shipment of Montréal bagels. Good food and good people in Canada, eh?

Love the video, im so glad that I stumbled upon it..I've lived in Canada my entire life and know of all of these, ketchup chips, candied salmon, Nanaimo bars, lobster rolls, poutine, and soooo many good items but to see it all presented in a video and representing Canada's signature cuisine, makes me a proud Canadian🇨🇦. Glad you came and tried them all!! If you ever come back and visit Manitoba, might I suggest that you try our venison and fish(northern pike, walleye, and trout).

This was a great revision of the video. You are bang on about international cuisine, e.g., there is a Georgian restaurant that I want to go to locally and amazing Korean and Persian food. Ramen shops are exploding all over Toronto. Peameal bacon on a bun is as Toronto/Ontario breakfast as you can get. We never call ham Canadian Bacon, but I used to work for a British chef that called it Irish bacon. Gryfe's bagels in Toronto are better than Montréal or New York bagels. The former are too dense. You could also speak about lobster in the Atlantic. Thank you for showing Cows! Their Apple Pie Ice Cream was the best ice cream that I have ever eaten. Donair kebob in the east is huge as well. Butter tarts should not have nuts: raisins or nothing.

Love this. Butter tarts with Pecan over Raisin hands down. My personal fave sweet treat though is the Nanaimo bar and the best place to get it is at the Hearthstone bakery in Nanaimo. Also, the sushi in Van City is the bomb and like you I've been to Japan and Sao Paolo's Libertade neighborhood and the sushi restaurants in Vancouver are on that level of goodness. Like Liam, I love the cow chips but my god our sweet treats are calorie inducing monsters. My fave poutine is Michigan which is basically bolognaise sauce. Newfoundland has several other edible wonders from Toutons to Jiggs dinner. I have to stop putting the info I was going to send you to the way side. I will send it soon guys you have my word.

You have to try Italian veal sandwiches. The style is unique to Toronto/GTA. I haven't seen it in Montreal, NYC, Chicago, Italy north & south ... and I've been really looking! Most popular would be the local chain with the ironic name "California Sandwiches" and San Fracesco's among many independents throughout GTA with a heavy concentration in old Little Italy and Vaughan/Woodbridge. Although they offer various options and toppings, I just do basic hot (i.e. spicy) veal. Don't forget to get some spicy olives ... and wash it down with a Brio soda. Buon apetito!

Me and most other Canadians I know don’t have maple syrup on the reg. It’s pretty expensive so is an occasional treat. And there are plenty of products that use artificial maple flavouring. Btw, Costco is a good place to pick up a litre of maple syrup at a reasonable price. 🇨🇦
@sheila3936
@sheila3936 Год назад
For me it’s the real stuff or bust. I have some almost daily as a sweetener instead of processed sugar, but I definitely try to buy it in the cans when it’s on sale or from local farms in the spring.

Maple syrup is not just a “Canadian thing”. U can get it all over New England. I believe Vermont is the biggest producer of it in the USA. Oh and poutine is available pretty much all over the US

Toronto has a great restaurant scene. Come to think of it, so does Vancouver, (maybe better than Toronto's), and to some extent, so does Québec, and maybe even Montréal (although Montréal has focused on more 'niche dishes,' like bagels, & pizza). Food-wise, mostly only two cultures have made Canada what it is today: Chinese, and to a lesser extent, French. Outside of these, the third greatest positive influence on the Canadian food scene are the indigenous cultures and the many ancient local ingredients. So if you aren't going to eat "Duck Confit" or "Pâté de Foie Gras" in Québec City, or "Fried Lobster in XO Sauce" in Toronto, you'll be feasting on "Grilled Moose Steaks" in upper Saskatchewan, or "Stewed Seaweed-Berries with Salted Giant Cod" up on the coast of Labrador. Truly, Canada had a unique and underrated World-Class Culinary Scene that has yet to be discovered and explored by the more influential palettes on the planet. I just wonder which of the great (non-US) food cities will be the first to open an authentic "Canadian Restaurant," Paris, Amsterdam, Dubai, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Geneva, Shanghai, Berlin, etc. My money is on Tokyo or Amsterdam. Tokyo because they are taken-in by fads there, and Amsterdam because it was the first city in Europe to open an authentic Mexican Restaurant, and because it has easier access to Canadian Ingredients. Either way, I'll be there on opening day, cash in-hand, with my mouth open and my tongue hanging out.

As a Canadian, I've watched many similar videos and would say this is the most accurate representation of our food culture. One big miss in this is Ottawa Shawarma, which is some of rhe absolute best. Also one big misconception is that Canadians love Tim Hortons, it's a cheap coffee but it is essentially comparable to Dunkins, pretty terrible stuff. Oh and Canadian bacon, nobody here eats that here regularly. We eat regular bacon like everyone else.
@leagueaccount6254
