When I started out, it was all about collecting just as many as I could. Now, a couple years later, I’m feeling the freedom to let some go - thin out the numbers. I really appreciate your affirmation of this approach. Now I INVEST in the fragrances I really want. Quality over quantity.
That was my approach as well but the good thing is I found a scent that could be my signature scent early. Actually, I found two. Got an Escentric Molecules M+ discovery set and the M01+Patchouli blew me away. I didn't even try the other two until a few days ago and the M01+Mandarin is awesome too. I think I can use those two for the rest of my life.
L'homme is 🔥🔥 Have you tried Prada Amber Pour Homme?🤔 I really like that one!🤗 (Clean... like an expensive soap!) A couple of the higher end Pradas sound really good. "Purple Rain" & "Heat Wave".
Prada L'Homme is in my collection for years, as well as the Intense. Indeed it is amazing! I left this one out of my comment, but could easily replace my nr 4 or 5.
My top 5 for life 1. Tom Ford Oud Wood (formal events/office work) 2. By Kilian Angel's share (quite pitchy clean and versatile) 3. Dior Homme Parfum (i like a little bit heavy sometimes) 4. MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 edp/Extrait (get along with anyone anytime) 5. Acqua di Parma Colonia Club (one of my most complimented fragrance and versatile. Works well all year round).
Hey Omar, it's been a while! I would absolutely agree with you here. I realized very early on that fragrances should be appreciated and worn according to one's personality, this being the reason why I never worried about owning hyped fragrances. Keep spreading the message!💯

Reflection man is my go to fragrance. It is very different from their other scents, so them doing this especially for western markets makes sense to me and I’m not mad at them for that. :)
One piece of advice as an older head at 38 is I heard fragrences called "beast mode, compliment beast" etc which maybe true but you have to have personality and charisma to go with it. In early 2000s i went out to bars and clubs in my early 20s with deodorant and clean cloths.. buying a "beast" scent isnt goiing to cover up the awkwardness in you. A fragrence compliments your appearance and personality it doesnt make your personality so think about it Im just saying ive seen the list of "top 5 compliment getters" and i have seen dudes complain they bought it and have gotten no compliments.. You cant wear Dior Sauvage and dress like a slob with greasy hair, no shower and acne with being shy.. just sayin
I love that you focus on what's best for you and which ones you don't reach for the most. I've collected more than I've needed and find myself never reaching for my popular designer brands. With that being said my top 4(still searching for 5) would be 1. D&G The One 2. Dior Homme Intense 3. 1 Million Lucky 4. Mercedes Benz Club Black If I could find a niche fragrance that I actually enjoy and compliments my top 4, I would be set honestly. I could also part with a few afterwards. Any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated.
@@metas1779 Since this comment I’ve gotten a sample of Cedrat Boise, it’s the most likable “creed” DNA I’ve smelled. Or well, similar to Creed. Would you recommend any other Mancera’s? I have Instant Crush right now and enjoy that one.

Hello professor. If you enjoy Chanel AHSEB that much, I highly recommend Xerjoff Uden. It's like an even higher quality version of it, but replacing a bit of the creaminess with booziness and a hint of coffee. Absolute fragrance for life!
AHEB is signature fragrance worthy in a designer world .It works great in winter too (vetiver ,sandalwood ,and vanilla).I also have Uden (recent batch ,but had a decant 5 years ago from the square “artistic” bottle . Old Uden had similarities on the opening with AHEB edtc version which was a bit more complex and not lemon forward like modern Edition Blanche EDP.Reformulated Uden is more like Nikos Sculpture with toned down rum and amped sweetness and saltiness from ambergris and vanila.It’s still a great fragrance ,though -but the opening from the vintage Uden was next to the Nio ,best citrus opening of all time ;)
I have 6 100 mil bottles and I only feel that "special" feeling wearing 2 of them lol bleu de Chanel and Light blue intense. Light blue intense truly does boost my mood when I put it on!
Just saw a 200ml bottle of D&G Light Blue Eau Intense for $100 Canadian! Basically $75 US. Just wish I had tried it already but have heard nothing but amazing reviews about it
Nice vid. Good message for us serious fragrance collectors. However, five for life is far too small a repertoire. My magic number is 12. I'm still trying to knock my collection down to that number. It's hard! But I do agree with "quality over quantity." Cheers!

You are so spot on again Omar. Thank you for the confirmation a large collection isn't necessery. I used to have a few dozen of fragrances and brought it down to literly one dozen. From my "old" collection the ones I only wear frequent and truly like, are these 12. All the others I had as a status or just because of a stupid, most often blind, buy. So I got rid of all of those. Like you, gourmand, sweet and over the top fragrances are not my cup of tea either. Picking from my current collection 5 for life, this would be my list. As a fellow student I stand behind Omar his reply. I just would add my leasson I learned over the past 25 years: Never let anybody tell you what you should be wearing or how any fragrances you should own. Don't let influencers lead you in the pitfall of what they think and like, or letting you buy scents you'll regret one day. Only buy what you really like and would actualy wear. I used to have over 50 fragrances and in the last few months I brought it down to 12. It really is a relief. These 12 are the ones I like and wear. Most of them are all year, all occassions scents and some are just fall/ winter, some are just spring/ summer and for special occassions I just pick the one I want to wear and is suitable. Not saying you should own this many, just saying; only have and wear what suits you. There's nothing wrong with having only safe fragrances. Actually, I got rid of all my bold fragrances, because it just wasn't 'me'.
My sister managed to get me a sample of the d&g light blue au intense it smells absolutely gorgeous il be buying a bottle as soon as they get some in the shops where i live in Wales, another great video buy the way 👍

Fougere D'Argent is such an under rated fragrance - wore it for my wedding so it's one I'll be trying to hold on to for as long as I can. Edition Blanche is also in my small collection and perfect for LA weather.
Agree to this. If you consume 12 sprays a day (6 in the morning, 6 in the afternoon) , you'll roughly consume only 350ml a year. That's just roughly 1 75ml bottle per season. So quality over quantity guys. (That being said, i have over 30 bottles sooo..😹😹😹)
I know I will be the odd man out on this, but the thing I love the most is variety. I love the idea that people don't know what I will smell like from day to day. It's like someone knowing what shirt I'm going to have on, before they even see me. That's why I have 50+ bottles...

I’m always working with my hands, and I’m outside when it’s -20 degrees. No days off for bad weather. When it’s that cold, there’s nothing better; a super heavy, sweet and tar like fragrance is perfect for cutting through extreme cold. For me it would be Terra D Hermes (first fragrance where I felt I grew up from a boy to a man), Ombré Leather, ADG Profumo, Neroli Portifino, and Bal D Afrique
My top five are PDM Herod, Dior Homme Intense, Dior Homme parfum, TF Ombre Leather and TF Tobacco Oud. If I can only keep five it would make the hot months tough to pull off.

I love fragrances. Not much of a collector, just love myself to smell good (at least on my nose). Don’t care about bottles & boxes, just purely love the scents itself. So no more full bottle for me, only decants from now on. Not gonna waste more of my hard earn money on those bottles anymore. Decants all the way.
Great video Omar. I was about to try Blue Electrique and Amouge but one of them is discountiuned and the other one is almost same as Le'male. Will try to Ombre Leather. Light Blue found it after watched one of your video, loved it. What you think about Azzaro Most Wanted ? It gives me vibes of Calvin Clein Euphoria and i remember it was your one of the first scents. Do you have any on your mind with great performance Euphoria-like scents?
For me: Encre Noire, CdG Rouge, Eau Sauvage Parfum, Oriza L. LeGrand Chypre Mousse, and...Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel. If I had to stick with 5. If I'm allowed 5 more, then, Tauer Incense Rosé, PdM Percival, Mont Blanc Explorer, Panouge Patchouli Figue, and...maybe...Zoologist Seahorse, 'cause some days I'm just in that mood.
I've only just been at this about 18 months, still a relative "newbie" at my ripe old age of 64. It's been an amazing journey of discovery. I'd say that, for me, an "inventory" of about 20-25 fragrances is just right to cover the range of sweet(-ish), incensey, woody, offbeat (like Rouge, fantastic stuff)--but, apart from L'Homme Ideal Extrême, a magnificent exception, no "gourmand" for me. Just not my taste, no inclination to smell like vanilla, chocolate, mango, coffee, etc.
I keep finding myself in a buy and sell cycle. I buy a new fragrance and as you said sell and get rid of the ones I don’t reach for much. Only thing is I feel like I have to keep some even though I don’t reach for them much. I am trying to thin out my collection to only the ones I feel safe and good reaching for.

Great picks.. but for me PDM Layton isn't on this list.. its a nice scent but it just doesn't wow me... while it's very easy to wear, crowd pleasing and the quality is on point.. I find it to be kinda generic in it's profile... just my opinion
Blue electrique isn’t discontinued, mainly an airport/duty free release as it isn’t fully released in the UK market, mainly Europe. I spoke to a YSL rep this morning who confirmed this, it was eau electrique that was discontinued

I recognize this won't be a popular opinion, but why would anyone want a signature scent? Would you like someone to know what you will smell like before they see you? Or let me ask it this way ... Would you like a signature shirt? Every time someone saw you, you were wearing that shirt... I'm not knocking anyone, but I think having a variety of scents is great. I agree we could all probably purge a few that we no longer wear, but I would never want to have less than 15 great scents. Even my wife loves not knowing what I will smell like tomorrow 😃
I'm telling myself nowadays that if I had just a two-fragrance collection of Bleu de Chanel Parfum and Chanel Édition Blanche, I could be satisfied with that. With up to five, however, I'd also include Bvlgari Tygar, Dior Homme 2020, and Tom Ford Noir Extreme. Ah, and Givenchy Xeryus dammit. 😄

All the ones I listed are a bit different from each other, so I think it'd be a balanced set. 😄 Bvlgari Tygar's harder to find; I only chanced upon it at the international section of an airport. If you like green freshies, then Xeryus (frosted bottle, white logo version) is an absolute steal for the price these days.
I have liked your opinions, but I am yet to acquire a lot of your recommends. This video has hit the nail on the head, but I need one question answered. Testing on stripes does not do a scent justice as trying on skin would, so what can I do to get that true evaluation????
The secret is slowly coming out about Ombre Leather, its universally loved by women. I put it on one day like just whatever then my wife smelled me and chased me around the house and wouldn't let go. Reference I own over 50 fragrances.
