Guitar picks should also be in the list!, something like a variety pack from Dunlop to test thicknesses, shapes, etc. It's a great gift for any player in any level.
Yeah those are great, that’s how I found my favorite pick shape. The black tortex 1.14s are perfect size to go from leads to rhythm seamlessly. Not too floppy for leads and not too stiff for rhythm.
I’ve been on and off learning guitar for about a year and your videos have really motivated me just seeing how good of a musician u are and just whated to say thanks for content it’s great work
You’re the man! Happy holidays! My 11 yo son started watching your videos and we’re now on a path to sharing music at a completely new level. So you’ve given me the best Xmas present ever! Thanks you!
Serious suggestion: a Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz. Bought one on a whim because I didn’t like fuzz but wanted to play with one to see if I could learn to like it. Learn to like it, I did. I very much did.
I added the spark to my wishlist when that first video was uploaded. It's still there, and now with kids, I need it more than ever. Tired of playing only acoustic and electric unplugged! It's my number one Christmas gift I've been telling anybody who asks.
If you want an alternative AmpliTube is awesome IMO. If you get the MAX bundle on sale you'll need an audio input too but my spark sits unused since I'm either at my computer or on one of my bigger tube amps. It's great, I just have too many options 🙂
@@robcobi good to know! Thanks! Found out my wife is gifting me the Fender Mustang Micro for Christmas. I'll tinker with that to if there's a way to combine it with the AmpliTube!
Just letting you know, I got a spark because I wanted to play at my old house which was a duplex and I worked weird hours, and it completely changed everything and opened up so many possibilities. It sounds fantastic especially through headphones and you have so many options at your disposal. It's allowed me to get into recording too. And slap on a portable battery (or buy a mini) and you can play outdoors or anywhere. I sound like some kind of paid advertiser but trust me that thing is worth its weight in gold. I have a 20 watt tube amp too but the spark gets played more
I use a Duesenberg whammy bar. Replaces the stop bar on any Gibson style guitar in minutes. Easy to change back to original if you ever want. No glues, holes or anything to deface your guitar. IMO much cleaner and easier to string than a Bigsby.
A gift I bought for my friend on his birthday recently (actually 5 months ago) was an Ebow. It's one of those things you subconsciously know exist, but always forget exist. I bought one for myself as well, and I've been learning to incorporate it into my playing every so often. Super cool tool when you got a bunch of pedals that do wild things (synths, modulation, shimmer reverb, [microcosm]).
Tyler ! You're productions are so painstakingly made it never ceases to amaze me. You're such a fun and positive dude and combined with your knowledge of all things guitar ( which of course includes your unique style of playing ) makes this channel so entertaining that the education we get is a pleasure. Kinda like Sesame Street for guitar players 😂 I enjoyed this immensely. You should do what _not_ to give guitar players next. Like strings if you've no idea what gauge or brand a player may be partial to. Picks as well. In any case thanks for the years of content that ranges from funny to heartwarming and everywhere in between bro! ✌️❤️🎸🎶🙏
Tyler, no matter the genre or style of music, you're one of the only guitar players on RU-vid who I can just listen to all day, man. You have such a nice sound no matter what you're playing. Love you dude
I like the classic celluloid, medium. The funny thing is every colour of celluloid makes them each feel a bit different, the slight variations in material make it stiffer or more flexible.
Definitely thought a new guitar would be in the list somewhere… giving me a reason to go out and get it, following the wisdom and advice of Tyler, but no. I will have to go another year without feeding my addiction 😔
What happened to your Bigsby tremolo on your ES-335? Also, your tone is amazing!! You are easily one of my favourite RU-vidr!! Thanks for making great content 👍
One thought on the String Butler: If the problem is the awkward break angle, doesn't the string butler just push the problem back? And if it's relying on the rollers, it seems the better fix is a lubed nut (or even just a bit of pencil lead in the slots). Not entirely sure, but food for thought. Love your vids, dude!
Man! Looking at your living room walls, bathroom walls, etc., I think I would go insane with that many guitars. I have 5 and I end up feeling weird about not playing them all often enough.
It really isn't very hard, and there's tons of videos detailing how. I highly recommend you learn it. Playing a guitar with a good setup does make a huge difference, and I know you've got this. Good luck!
i saw a tik tok that was a gibson electric self-tuning device wich you put on the headstock and there were lights on to see if u were in tune and all u needed to do to tune it was strum the open strings once
alright joined the super system and subscribed to your channel. i just got my strat hss last august. not completely new to messing around with some guitars through the years but never really learned to play properly. so at 46 yrs old here I go!
Why does it matter if the angle in the string is at the nut or the peg of the String Butler? It seems to me the more extreme angle of the bend that the butler creates would be less ideal than the gentle angle coming from the nut.
I have a video idea: remember that series where you learned “the hardest solo” or something along those lines? I was thinking you should do that exact same thing but learn the live without a net EVH solo, it would be awesome seeing you playing it and your thought process. Hopefully you will see this comment!
Tyler, your my G. Love Guitar Super System, but question for ya in all honesty. How long has the gibson sat and played it in tune with the buddy thingy?
Positive grid created an amp that put all other affordable amps to shame. Hands down the best amp I've ever owned, the countless effects, tones and creativity you get from such an inexpensive and lovely sounding piece of equipment makes me happy I forked out the little money I had and bought one when I did.
Liquid Death’s advertisement team is pretty smart, just tell the RU-vidrs to put the product in the video without talking about it and boom “grassroots” advertising. Tyler, Rhett, etc all have Liquid Death conveniently “left in the middle of the frame”, and never mention them. And while I don’t think Liquid Death is bad and actually enjoy their sparkling water considerably, it feels a little shady to advertise like this
I received a pick cutter once... never used it, definetely more on the gimmicky side of gifts. The fact that it's now sitting in a drawer, amkes this quite more frustrating than when I initially unpacked it
I have been playing for 10 years and it is well known that music is my true passion. Yet no one ever buys me guitar/music related gifts (except my wife a couple of times). Does anyone else experience this?
Yeah people these days don't care about giving thoughtful gifts anymore. Which makes it extremely annoying to be the only friend in the group who does.
My Mom buys me ugly ass cloths and I've never worn a single item. Or pots and pans. Stupid shit "women" are supposed to like. Begged for a drum kit my entire childhood. Never got it. I played snare drum from 3rd to 7th grade and she never even got me drum sticks. So for my bfs bday I got him a drum set. He was saw it and was like wow that's pretty. So he was playing it. Guy asked him if he was interested and he's like oh could never afford it. The kit showed up the next day. I told them I wanted it. Price didn't matter. Now I'm looking at a Les Paul or perhaps a Satriani signatuee guitar for him. I did get a 2023 Challenger this year and my Mom tried so hard...she got me a "Dodge" steering wheel cover and accessories with Rams on them...cuz she has no idea Dodge and Ram are not the same.
What song is playing in the background from 6:28 ? I'm new to guitar, and this is exactly the kind of melodies I want to play in the beginning. Thanks for all the amazing videos you're making for us!
i really hate to ask this but i know you have a lot of guitars is there any way i could have an electric guitar i’ve had an acoustic forever and now i’m wanting to play electric
Okay... so I'm currently saving up for a Gibson Les Paul "Black Beauty".. custom shop custom, 1957 reissue. That doesn't have a whammy. As much like the orginal as I can get without spending a fortune on a relic. Welp.... I love my whammies, and that electric whammy, looks and sounds great.
Hey speaking of keeping guitar strings in a straight line.. what are your thoughts on the cyberpunk guitar that keanu reeves character uses? The bridge/headstock setup is wayyyyy different than nearly everything rn save headless guitars.. sort of.
Buy us music store gift certificates if you don’t know about what we need. Better yet take us to a guitar store and just watch us trying stuff in our environment. I will always remember the day my first serious gf went to the local music gear shop and watched me try a few guitars. She spent three months bragging about how awesome it was seeing me play the hell out of a bunch of guitars, and a guy trying some drums asked me if I wanted to start a band with him. Her just being there was a gift all it’s own. Being a dedicated musician can be lonely with the amount of practice we put in.
