Just another FYI, this video doesn’t say you can’t wear your hair however you want. But nonetheless, certain styles look more “mature” than others, which he detailed in the video
As someone who’s worked in corporate before and hated every fn minute of it I do not care what those arse kissing sheeple think. Lucky I don’t want to work in corporate that’s why I have locks. Other than that I agree those styles are juvenile. I would dye my tips red with temporary red dye though just to see how it looks.
Because WE allow them to with videos like this …..one thing about the LGBTQ they are loud and proud and stand on business…black folks still trying to fit in and be accepted
THE OPINIONS AND PERSPECTIVES EXPRESSED ARE BASED ON EUROCENTRIC BEAUTY STANDARDS. A PERSON'S HAIR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PERFORMANCE. BUT EVERYTHING TO DO WITH CULTURE AND HERITAGE AND CULTURE.
Facts its weird to see a nigga telling black me to limit our creativityand hair to to fit what he views as acceptable like bro we should do what we like and you just need to stop being judgemental smh.
I always had thought it was just a guideline that they wiped off after the cut was done. I didn’t realize that people actually wore this white chalk line out in public.
@@Mgg2601 I’ve only seen this on people in barber videos online, so I guess I’ll withhold any judgement until I actually see someone wearing it in public.
@@danjenkins2064If done right it should be barely even noticeable. Its an enhancement that makes the edge up stand out. My cousin is a celeb barber so I have watched him use it many times but, when they leave you barely can tell it’s there. Thats why I said alot of barbers don’t use it correctly.
Yeah f em, honestly I think it may be because of the area he lives in, because here in cali no gives a fu# the only one I'd say he was right on was the chalk one, I know for sure you'd get stared at weirdly for that one but all the other ones pffffft they can kiss my ass I don't care what other folks look like and I'm not gunna judge anyone, people are just shallow.
@@BloodLeopard-rm8wgfacts I’m from nyc out here people do not care how you dress how you look as long as you don’t stink it’s whatever everyone pretty much mind their business he gives off middle off America little town energy
This stuff doesn't matter unless you're trying to please the whyit man. If you're predominantly with your brothas and sistas then you can rock whatever you want. Naturally, not everyone woman is going to like every look and perception is more so based on stuff like personality and interests. Don't conform and fight against the system my brothas.
These guys actually think getting a fade is gonna get them a date. Men are so gullible. If you want men to conform to something just say women like it too.🤦🏾♂️😂😂😂😂
@@lenatunji why is RU-vid recommending this nonsense to us? That’s why most of us click. Most of us are not even subscribe to this RU-vid channel. But we recommended.
@@heavenlypath1065 Your comment makes no sense though. Fades are not overrated because they are literally so popular. Just because you don't like it don't mean it's overrated.
Its a shame black people feel like our image is our entire lives. Presentation is literally one thing... not everything. This is not an idea i think we should normalize or reinforce. How many soul food dishes do you see just thrown together on a plate but still taste amazing? Pictures often taken while its in a to-go box. Meanwhile there's fancy restaurants whipping up cute dishes with absolutely zero flavor. Hopefully this analogy sums up the point.
Agree 100%. Good advice. The key is symmetry, and evenness. When ppl look at your hair they shouldn't have to process too much information. You want your hair to blend seamlessly with the rest of you.
@@marcusjenkins5371 it's not just my view. Certain parts of society operate a certain way, it's just how it is. I've worked corporate HR in many different spaces for over a decade, and Bril is spot on with this vid.
@@nickjones5495Lol. no need for the negativity. I'm Just a corporate brother with over a foot of hair, imparting what I've learned to others who might be in the same space. Nothing to get upset over.
When I grew my locks out every one told me not to. I’ve since become an educator and youth director. Just keep it (whatever your hairstyle is) clean and presentable. Again, who determines what’s professional and/or presentable?
My take away is they use to shave us bald as slaves stripped away identity historically possibly short hair does resemble masculinity but perhaps this is misinformation men warriors often wore braids strong dramatic symbolic styles
I have been rocking the Afro since high school and I never got any complaints from it. It’s easy to deal with and doesn’t take much to keep it up. Love it going to keep rocking it until I feel like going back to my high top fade back in middle school lol
Long-time subscriber here, fam! I have always supported you and will continue to do so. I understand that this is based on your opinion and the sample of women you’ve spoken to regarding this topic. At 40 years young, I no longer care what others think about my appearance. When I was in my 20s and 30s, I worked in professional roles, wearing business casual or suits in corporate and healthcare settings. I realized that no one really cared what I wore because, even though I looked professional, I was still treated like "trash" and not respected due to my lack of an appropriate title like Manager, Director, or CEO. I was just another "cog in the wheel" and quickly realized that it’s not about how you look-well, sometimes it is, depending on the setting. However, most of the time, people care about social currency and status! When I turned 34, I began growing my hair out with freeform locs and started wearing clothes that made me comfortable. I noticed that I received more looks and spoke to more women often. It's like they are comfortable approaching me because I am comfortable with myself. I currently work as a Licensed Psychotherapist and Registered Nurse, and I empower others through my practice to be their authentic selves! Continue your putting out great content and sharing your opinions brotha. Much luv and respect!
Ugh… I don’t know HOW you did it. We’re in the same age group and I’ve basically had every hairstyle imaginable (no Mohawks). If my hair can grow and it fits my face I was willing to try it.
Counter Disclaimer: Do what you want with your hair however, if your walking around looking like a clown because "I can wear whatever I want" expect people to treat you as such.
For me life is too short to care what people think, because at the end of the day it just shows their shallowness and judgmental personalities, honestly I love doing me and having people show who they are and how they really feel, that way, I can avoid them. Not saying that this is you. But I refuse to be a chameleon.
Nah that white chalk hair line stye gotta be a local thing. Ive never seen or heard of anyone honestly doing that or going out in public. But i agree with the rest of the styles especially the last tip. In corporate world you have to maintain it properly or you will get the side eye looks.
What I do with the Pop Smoke hairstyle now (which was the same hairstyle I got in the very early 80's as a child) is have the stylist link braids into one or two braids to the back. It's more compact, and looks very mature. It also makes you look as if you have a low hairstyle. Its funny that you made this video, because I am making the decision this coming September to grow my hairline back to a full length. I have no gripes whatsoever with these recommendations!
Facts same when you walk around confident with your head high people respect that if you notice people that judge the most are always weak minded people they know who to judge and not judge
@@RealRamRamInThecut exactly plus my afro so long and thick it hides my hairline, forehead, & eyes so it’s really no point in wasting money on a barber, especially since haircuts are $50 now days

I feel you on the white chalk all on a person head😂 always make the barber whip that shit off with a wet rag before I walk out the barbershop and I'm shocked you didn't say anything about mohawks with I rock sometimes
I’ve been getting jobs with my locs and even hand and arm tattoos just fine. I don’t think hair style matters fr anymore as long as ur hair is just kept up with in general
I personally don't care what women like I do what I feel and those women that feel me are for me,I don't want them all just a few..made some valid points tho
If you're trying to grow out your sides and you already have high length on top, just start rocking a curly wash & go style until the sides catch up. I've been doing that and it doesn't look too CraZy with the uneven lengths.
a slight trim will do bro, black hair is becoming more understood but with that being said. Other black ppl in your office will know if not putting nay effort in
I’m biased but I have 540 waves and a full beard with no taper at all. (22) I think it looks kinda crazy when it starts to fill in and it just grows too fast (I cut my own hair) I think if you can grow a full beard with sideburns then it doesn’t matter at all.
@karimamidou1794 simmer down lmao. You must be ol'boy in the video. Let me help you. "Pausing" is you acknowledging you said something mad zesty but unintentionally lol. Second, when you were talking about the pop smoke braids. It's cool and all when you are talking about the maturity the hairstyle may imply bit then you went as far as to endorse another guy with the same hairstyle. He pulls it off perfectly huh? Is that from the women survey you conducted or your own personal observation?? Now that I think about it you are right...even "pausing" it wouldn't change the fact you lowkey said that man look good to you lol
Good vid I was actually pondering about this as well. I have dreadlocks and oftentimes I'm like does it make you look masculine and mature but personally I like having locs I believe it makes me more authentic and unique in ways of expression. I do believe if you're out of college I think if someone has like a mohawk I'm like mhmmm maybe a different selection would be ideal. Mohawk dreads are different I feel like you can rock that at a mature age.
I dont fucking agree with the pop smokes that hurt me too😂 its my regular and girls always complimenting me on it . Since i gt those i got more girls so 🤷🏿♂️ imma say im one of the guys who can get away with it
Facts. And before that Xzibit made them popular through the mid 90s and early 2000s. I would always say “let me get those Xzibit braids” if I wanted that style.
I go back and forth about my gray hair. Leave it and experience ageism, dye it and it's ok. I should not have to dye my hair to keep my job but here I stand.
I'm 27 and I'm not interested in women my age. 18-24 is my preference. So that being said I'm not trynna look mature for older women with kids and baggage. I want to look young so I can attract young.
Who says all older women have kids and baggage? If you cannot find a woman within your age group that doesn’t have those things then you’re the problem. You’re 27 with a Yb profile picture, you’re not that mature anyways. And no, I’m not an older woman before you say something like “you must be older” im 17. Also, if older women aren’t a prize, what makes you think you’re the prize?
U do know most people do there hair for them selfs its like saying to a girl with a weave to stay natural because ur opinions everyone one else😂 but the whit chalc i do agree is something for a kid
The thing about women's opinion.. like u said .. sum dudes can get away with it... and sum guys can depending on the guy. Iv seen women with guys so many of these hair styles 😂. Now the white chalk hairstyle/ hairline is WILD! 😂😂 now I do agree with the corporate world tho.
I understand that but we all conform to a degree. Saying "bless you" after a sneeze or giving someone a present or processing to your gf is all examples of you complying with the social standards
People are gonna judge an talk about u until the day u die. And ever after that. So fuck what ppl think and do whatever makes your soul happy. Ppl can think I’m immature because of my colored locs, but I’m still an early childhood therapist, and I own all my shit so opinions don’t mean anything. These ppl don’t do anything for me
Lol 20 people is as about as that pool can be. I didnt considered what they guys think about it themselves. The goal was to get an outsdie perspective because of course anybody with one of these styles wouldnt think its immature
I’m 28. I was in high school 10 years ago at no point in those four years was it cool to put white chalk on your hairline. So if that’s a thing now… just gonna keep my opinion to myself
I went from a Fresh Ceasure to a Baldy...Had the long Braids & started dying it Jet Black cause I started getting Salt & Pepper...Im a just stay Bald...
