Did you know Hamilton, Ontario, Canada has over 100 waterfalls in the area? In this video I'm sharing just 5 of the 100 possibilities to inspire some waterfall wanderlust in Hamilton, or wherever you are in the world.
#hamilton #hamiltonontario #ontariowaterfalls
0:00 Intro
0:50 ✔️ Webster Falls
1:47 ✔️ Little Davis Falls
2:48 ✔️ Albion Falls
3:45 ✔️ Smokey Hollow Waterfall
4:49 ✔️ Tew Falls & Dundas Peak
6:13 Closing
Webster Falls
(from: conservationha...)
Parking lot is at Greensville Optimist Park, off Highway 8
Your two-hour hike experience features a hike along a trail rich in history, as you approach Webster Falls, a 22-metre classical curtain waterfall that is one of Hamilton’s most iconic waterfalls. Travel across the beautifully restored cobblestone bridge that crosses Spencer Creek, to the accessible Dobson-McKee lookout that offers stunning views of the gorge and vistas.
Little Davis Falls
(from: www.cityofwate...)
Little Davis Creek is located downstream of Felker’s Falls but reaching it from Felker’s Falls is difficult. It is easier to take King St. East exit off the Red Hill Valley Parkway and follow King St. to Quigley Rd. Turn right onto Quigley Rd. and follow it to the end. Walk past the end of Quigley Rd. onto parkland, turn right and Little Davis Falls is there.
Albion Falls
(from: tourismhamilto...)
Albion Falls is a stepped jewel, classified as a cascade as it ripples over the Niagara Escarpment. It is almost as wide (18 metres) as it is tall (19 metres). It is visible from two viewing platforms, but there is currently no access to the bottom. Rocks from around the falls were used in the construction of Hamilton’s famous Rock Garden, a National Historic Site at Hamilton’s Royal Botanical Gardens.
Smokey Hollow Waterfall
(from: tourismhamilto...)
At 10 metres tall, this isn’t the area’s biggest waterfall, but this short and fast-flowing waterfall is surrounded by a great section of the Bruce Trail. It has a rugged footpath tracing its way up and down the ravine formed by Niagara Escarpment. Once used to power a local sawmill, the falls are now the centre of beautifully rehabilitated park land. A parking lot can be found just off Mill Street, not far from highway 5.
Dundas Peak & Tew Falls
(from: conservationha...)
Parking lot located at 581 Harvest Road, Dundas. Your two-hour hike experience will start at Tew Falls, which at 41 metres is just a few metres shorter than Niagara Falls. There are two platforms just off the trail that allow visitors to get a spectacular view of the falls and gorge. Continue on your hike along the Niagara Escarpment to the Dundas Peak, offering a stunning view of the escarpment and Dundas and Hamilton. A 1.8 km loop trail system allows for physical distancing on narrow trails.

So many waterfalls! I definitely don't associate Ontario with waterfalls, shows what I know! Thank you so much for sharing, I really like Tew Falls, but they are all so beautiful. It's good to know that you need to reserve to visit some of these.

More than 100 waterfalls in Hamilton? Whoa! That's awesome. The cascade of Webster Falls looks beautiful. Indeed very beautiful, but yeah as you say, it doesn't look heavy. Little Davis is just awesome. My kinda place where you could go right under/above the falls. Having the entire place for yourself without other tourists is a very big plus point.

I just LOVE a good waterfall. The noise, the water spray and the pool at the bottom. I can stare at the falling water for ages. I used to live in Hamilton- but in New Zealand. Countries with this type of landscapes have such diversity in nature. My place of residence now, the Netherlands is flat as pancake, well almost, till you get further south. No waterfalls to brag about unfortunately. Loved this interlude. Thanks for the great footage. 💖 🇳🇿 🙋‍ 🇳🇱

Wow, that is a lot of waterfalls. Didn't know that Ontario has a lot of waterfalls. We were so focused on the city and "touristy spots" when we were in Ontario. I think we just stayed in Toronto the whole time. Makes me want to go back and visit all of this. Thanks for all the recommendations. Beautiful choice.

You are right about safety concern. The reason why visitors are not supposed to climb down to the bottom of Albion Falls any more, as The Average Tourist mentioned, is because people have had to be rescued, and a couple people have actually died.

Webster Falls is pretty! Are all the time schedulings to visit because of covid? Wayne would be one of those people that the officer was yelling at through the loudspeaker! 😎 Tew Falls is so tall! April's sister is known to regularly go chasing waterfalls!

I went to Albany falls in 2018...was able to walk right up to it then...we went looking for waterfalls but found most the access blocked off even then before pandemic...u can't get that close to most of them..

Most of the falls need a good flow to capture their grandeur and beauty. I am close enough to plan a trip on short notice after a day or two of rain with sunshine in the forecast. Also, this whole part of the Niagara escarpment is far more beautiful in the Autumn (typically early October for peak colours in the leaves) ... better yet, no crowds on weekdays that time of the year.
@TheAverageTourist

Oh that's really good to know about the autumn season there. You're lucky to live close by!

Pfff 100 waterfalls in the area. There are exactly 0 in my area. Even though the cascade isn't that full for the Webster falls but indeed still looks lovely. Albion Falls looks brilliant. Why is Tew falls your favourite? A bit annoying that you need to reserve for a nature place and also only have limited time for your visit.

@TheAverageTourist

I'm not familiar with the transit system specifically, but they do have buses that you could take and just plan the route as close to the falls you want to visit. You can uber to the further ones.

Albion looks the best, the one with $30 ticket seems too steep
@areyoukiddingme6741

Albion falls has had to put up fences because people refuse to follow rules, they need that photo and end up falling. They end up needing an expensive rope rescue, putting the first responders lives at risk, the entire thing could have been avoided. Police are stationed there now because adults can’t listen. I say adults because it’s generally adults bringing their families, hopping the fences with their children, why?? I know you think these things are beautiful but Hamilton and it’s waterfalls do not need any more exposure, like none. Exposure = dense people quite frankly, not to mention it closes an entire street down. That’s all, thank you.

If you visit the Waterdown falls please don't park on the side of the road. It's illegal and so dangerous. I live near by and have seen so many accidents as a result of dumb, selfish drivers. It's at the bottom of a steep hill and a very sharp corner that is blind in both directions. Plan to visit this one in the non peak times. Your visit will definitely be ruined if you end up hurt or in an accident.
@TheAverageTourist

Yes it was nuts the day we visited and there were numerous officers waiting to ticket cars and telling people to keep moving when they would stop at the side of the road 🤦‍♀️
