Hey gear vr lovers.... I know I am a little late here as this video is kinda old now but I just discovered a very helpful trick for gear vr and I must share! As we all know, mobile device battery life is an issue under normal usage conditions! Then when you add 360° 3D video to the mix, well needless to say, battery life suffers immensely! Never fear, my fine vr loving folks, I have discovered a solution! Now, as I am sure most of you are aware, there is a small micro-usb port on the bottom right side of your vr headset, this is simply an extension of your charging port for your device once it is mounted in the vr headset. It allows you to plug in a standard phone charger to keep your device charging, therefore allowing continued use of your vr headset. But, really! Who wants to be tethered to a charger while using vr? That defeats much of the purpose, you need to be able to move around freely to get full enjoyment out of vr! So, my simple solution... Get one of those small power banks, the ones that are about the size and shape of a tube of lipstick. Once your battery gets low, plug the small light weight power bank into the gear vr's micro-usb port and keep right on enjoying your vr experience! You can use a piece of velcro to mount the power bank to the vr headset and there you have it, a light weight, removable, fully portable, perfect solution to running out of battery in the middle of your favorite vr movie or game! You're Welcome 😆😉

Most of this is now done through apps. As far as using the cardboard there is an app that has a widget that makes it so even with the micro usb plugged in your occulus menu won't start up, and at least you'll still have your touch controls. Plus I wouldn't want the gear vr's micro usb having a possibility of being bent with the pressure being put on it. The app is called "Use Cardboard Apps For Gear VR", and it's in the playstore.

I own the gear vr and the note 5 if you are complaining that the audio sucks then its your phone, get a nice bluetooth headphones, I bought Photive PH-BTH3 headphones and let me tell you it sounds like you are in the movie theater and its amazing. a lot of the stuff that you can download through the app store yes I agree the video quality is kinda bad but if you download video files and everything like that the quality is true

Thats the old gear vr in this video. If you have the note5/s6/s6 edge, then you also must have the new gear vr. You dont need to do anything with text files. Just go to the My Videos option in oculus video. Now it plays any video stored on your phone with no problem. Just place your videos in the camera folder.

Hi Ricky, What program do you use for screen mirroring from the GearVR? I've tried mirror op while running BaskHead and the performance is very poor. It's enough to show what's happening on the screen but the resolution is too low.

TOP TIP: When screen mirroring to a 3D enabled TV you can turn on SBS-3D on the TV and instead of seeing two images your spectators will get a single image with a touch of 3D too ; ))))

You know what would totally rock my world? Is if I could play the 1998 version of the Hasbro game of life where every single spaced had a funny little cartoon on VR! I just bought my headset last Friday, and I am totally fascinated with the Oculus app. At the same time, I appreciate you showing me how to use the headset as if it was only a cardboard box so that I can watch things that I can't through Oculus. Especially videos from the Octagon project!

I just bought a Samsung gear vr, and for some reason i can not connect to the store, i have to DL the content from the oculus store from my phone then when try to play anything i DL i just get 2 loading rings, and even when i am in the oculus cimena theater no files or store items. The drone uses the DJI GO app so I can see the view from the camera and flight telemetry. I would like to view it through the VR. How do I get a dual screen, like what you have on the games and the google cardboard for regular movies to be seen in the VR. Also, how do I mirror the screen view of the DJI to my laptop. Do you have anything on using the apps in the app store on the samsung gear vr? Because it says to calibrate download the cardboard app. But I do, and it takes me to the fox, and the it point for me to I guess click on something on the cardboard, but obviously I can't click on anything on the samsung gear vr. This is great because even the latest samsung gear vr is limited to free games, But also the vision on the apps from the app store are pretty nauseating. Tried the roller coaster and even viewing the fox with the zoom adjusted is still nauseating. So not sure what to do.

for the Galaxy S6 with the gear VR do you have to use Wi-Fi because I've been trying to use my data with it but it says no connection connect to Wi-Fi and I would prefer to use my data since I have unlimited

I just bought Gear VR 2016 that comes with S7 Edge.Although i bought it seperately for my Note 5.I do not have the Occulus Cenima app with me. I tried using my Dad's S6 with it and i found the Occulus Cenima app in it. A;so , i tried watching a 3D movie in my gear vr 2016 using only the Samsung Gallery option.Which is very NOT SO THEATRE LIKE.Cuz the background remains the same and i only get to zoom the screen unlike in the Occulus Cenima App where there are 4 or 5 options for the video... What app do i have to install to get the same or similar experience as Occulus Cenima in my Gear VR 2016.And also for the 3d Movies ....

I have a converter that can make normal Movies into 3D, side by side images. But it makes them just like the game you played, after 10:07 in your video. My question is, would it look like 3D or it must be curved like an "O" (more or less), just like in your video after 0:25

Great video. Suggestion though: compress your audio or level it so its the same throughout the whole video. I boosted the audio to be able to hear you at one part then when it went to another part it hurt my ears with how loud it was. Fix that and keep it up.

Hey enjoyed your video but for the cardboard part i dont like the way you have the phone mounted i just feel like its gonna wear down on the VR's USB. What i did was i downloaded an App called Packet Disabler Pro for 1 dollar. You can disable VR Services which is what makes the GearVr auto start when you plug it in. By doing it my way You still can use the touch pad, the back button and most importantly the Volume Buttons without having to take your phone off

You do not need a game controller to switch seats. You can do that by scrolling on the direction keys on the headset

Tell me, does the user see the split between the lenses like we see in the video? Or is it one blended view for the user?

hey bro, u seen very knowledgeable about the Samsung VR I was just wondering why when I watch videos the image is not that clear. games are good quality but pictures, movies, videos are not sharp at all. what am i doing wrong and what can i do to fix it. video playback is horrible. even in the samsung vr app

Ricky, I have the note 5 and have dropped a movie into Oculus/Vr movies. I dont see nor understand what you mean by txt file bc there is nothing like that in the folder. Is that something you generated? Im confused

One thing I wish they would have added is USB-C media support. The new 2016 model included just the charge port. Somewhat of a waste considering USB-C can be configured for both. :/

I watched X men apocalypse last night and it was excellent and I got a few others that were good movies just didn't have good 3D so My question is what movies can you recomend that have the best 3D??

So you know they have an app on the play store called play cardboard for 1.50 now I have the updated headset and found trying to dock my phone to the new headset is a pain and some games like the view master games you need to push buttons with this app I tested last night you turn the app on chose oculus or cardboard if you chose cardboard you can plug your phone in like normal and play any game you want and the buttons still work like I'm a huge batman fan so I bought the batman animated series game for view master when I first played it I had to tape my phone on so I could use my stylus to tap the screen when I needed to push a button in the game after I installed the new app the side controls worked and because after you select cardboard it stops the oculus menu from starting when you plug your phone in you are able to play all games

Google cardboard will deactivate the oculus software when you find the qr code online for your gear vr or your box and scan it with the cardboard app in your phone, and you will also be able to use the bottons of the gear vr in other games. And if you connect a gear vr controller and a regular controller you can play games like time crisis on your gear vr. Tutorial in my channel.
