Another very strong hidden mechanic is that if you find yourself in a losing situation, you can hit Alt+F4 on fightcade and perform a strategic retreat. I hear it works on other fgs as well, very strong
My gawd, I remember browsing ZachD when I was an early teen trying to watch as much high-level MVC2 as possible before RU-vid existed. It seriously makes me so happy that MVC2 is alive and well.
I'd pay good money to see a video of just cursed combos/cursed synergy. Honestly, any kind of video that contains non-surface level knowledge that only character specialists/veteran players would know would be great. Things like Iceman not taking chip from energy attacks or other non-obvious character traits, character or team-specific setups, etc. Stuff like that would really help new players find a team/gameplan that fits them.
JayInVA22 which guard break u referring to? For cable, u can push block or take the first hit. That’s the counter. What other guardbreak u talking about
I'd really love for you to do a video going over the general metagame and the flow of MvC2. I know how insanely aggressive it is for MvC3, but I know very little about how 2 actually plays flow-wise
been seeing a ton of these videos drop ever since mvc collection landed! I never imagined MVC2 had such crazy depth in the techniques and moves. I'm still trying to wrap my head around many of the mechanics that are present here it does seem like there's a *ton* !
I’ve been binge watching your entire MvC2 content, I used to play this game growing up on the arcades in Mexico and on PlayStation 2, so many goood memories 🥲
Thanks for these videos! I've finally started picking up the game because of your content and it's made it way easier to understand what I want to do and why I'm losing.
... The switch glitch feels more glitchy than the DHC glitch. auto pressing a held button just is more wack than (we forgot you can combo after DHC, so even whiffing the DHC and getting a combo anyway allows you to basically do 2 combos off one hit with no interaction... because we wanted the second super to not be scaled to hell. Like, it's a logical thing to happen once you know the rules that make up it.
I play this on my dreamcast after work 3 times a week. I'm just grinding arcade mode but I've learned allot from these videos. I'd get crushed if i played online though.
Just wanna let u know: im not really into fighting games besides DBFZ. But its really calming to watch u for some reason. Its like a deaf is a fan of a musican.
While I dont play fighting games much, outside of Smash in a blue moon; I've really been enjoying this channel. Found you a couple days ago, but its been a blast! Thanks sir! and good luck with your tournament!
On alpha counters: You didn't elaborate properly on Cable-b and his alpha counter to AHVB. I've had so many matches I was about to lose where I used this to punish an assist call, an otherwise safe move from the point character, or both. This can win otherwise hopeless matches by killing one or more characters out of nowhere. You can also guard push, and cancel that with an alpha counter. This is very dangerous, especially with Cable B in the back. Guard pushing some close attack making their next one as well as Cable's psimitar miss lets you cancel that with an Air Hyper Viper Beam. Like they say in Seattle, Everyone gets shot.
Is there a good discord or wiki for resources to learn more about this game? I've seen tons of youtube videos but it would be nice to have some sort of articles or data tables for quick reference
Hey JM. I was wondering if you could do a video on Dhalsim. I’ve never been interested in playing as him but I heard a few months back that he’s actually a fairly decent character in Marvel 2 and even inspired the maker of hitbox to make that controller. I’m kinda curious as to why he’s a high tier competitive character.
Can you lightning attack 3 times in the air and still wiff normals or perform hypers? I was at the arcade and every time I did a lightning attack 3x I couldn't wiff normals or do hypers with storm in the air afterward
Hey jm can you do a video explaining the throw mechanic in the game for example captain commando has two throws hp and hk one does more than other but can a person break hp with hk or hk with hp or is something else also I don't think hulk has any standard throws only command one and it's blockable sad plus many characters have strange things after throws like combo or easy loop setups etc anyways might be something interesting for you to cover and fun
What it really troubles me is that I can't perform the DHC to save my characters, I perform the first HC and then I try to perform the second DHC nothing happens, I wonder if there is some sort of timing to perform the second HC since you make it look very easy.
When you say “1 frame normal” do you mean in old terminology or new? Because in 3rd strike when someone says “chun-li has a 2 frame jab” they mean it has 2 frames of start up and then hits on the 3rd. Which in modern terminology we’d call a “3 frame jab”. Is Magneto’s c.LK 1 frame start up and then hits on the second (2 frame normal in modern terms) or does it actually hit on the next frame after you press the button?
I think it will be successful, Justin Wongs channel is like Majority Marvel 2 now. Marvel Heads don't have alot of representation in 2021 so they back the people still doing it now.
I got inspired recently to download fightcade and give mvc2 a shot, as a matter of fact i just got done playing Umvc3 with a friend over at my place today. I have quite some legacy "modern" day fighting experience but my BIG problem with mvc2 is that it feels so strange to move around, and the lack of a default "magic series" makes me not really understand a characters combo utility. It is all just, few hits into super, where are Umvc3 is so many more hits. My question then is: what is the best way to understand a characters combos and/or movement ? Tibazz
Would it be possible for someone to double-check the frame data on Servbot's fastest normal? The website lists all of his standing normals as having a 6-frame startup, and that seems very wrong. (For reference, that's the same amount of startup time as Juggernaut's light kick.)
I have fightbcade all my games work flawlessly except mvc2 it lags and is unplayable is there something I need to do to get it to work like the other games
Like anything that's complex, it takes time. MvC2 is such a varied game that some people don't even use these tips, like alpha counter or dhc glitch. At top level it'll be brutal yes, but it takes time to get there. I'd say just try to have fun with the game at your own pace and learn what you need to learn when you need it. Like if you're struggling with damage then learn big combos or if you keep getting chipped learn to alpha counter. I play a low mid tier team in this game and I didn't even know about half the things in this video and I still have fun just learning and enjoying the game. Just play it at your own pace and have fun, if it's still not a game for you then it's okay, but don't be intimidated by depth, you'll get there if you play long enough. Definitely recommend some Sajam content if you're interested in learning about fg philosophy.
