The commemorative coin is dedicated to a noble cause that demonstrates the highest level of humanity to help others - blood donation. This coin serves as a tribute to donors whose invaluable contributions save lives and keep the nation healthy. It symbolizes unity, especially in difficult times, when one dose of blood can be life-saving for several people at once.
About half a million people become donors in Ukraine every year. However, unfortunately, the need for the priceless red liquid is always higher than the ability to collect it. The shortage of blood is especially acute now, during the war, because its loss is one of the main causes of death on the battlefield and as a result of the aggressor's attacks on the civilian population. World statistics are inexorable: from 25% to 45% of military losses occur precisely because of a lack of blood.
