A re-upload. Here is a feature "comparison" video that describes 5 different models of Hytera LMR radios. These 5 radios are the "Land Mobile Radios" aka LMR, and Hytera is now entering the North American market by manufacturing these 5 units in a "HAM" friendly version, exclusive to features for DMR amateur radio. GigaParts.com will be the exclusive North American dealer when the HAM version units are released, and will be an authorized service and warranty center for Hytera. These are NOT equivalent to TYT or other cheap brands of DMR radios. These are geared to the professional and specs that are well over the other brands when it comes to quality, features and design. Here are some discount codes for HUGE savings if you order from www.gigaparts.com
HRC-PD3 Save $80 on the PD362
HRC-PD6 Save $230 on the PD682
HRC-PD7 Save $310 on the PD782
HRC-X1P Save $460 on the X1P
HRC-MD7 Save $160 on the MD782

As a 'Ham' radio guy, i would not wish to purchase a DMR radio with reduced or restricted features considering the price of Hytera products. I would want a radio with maxxed out features, somewhat future proofed to my needs and hopefully the last Digital hand held i will ever need !

Hytera is NOT the leader in DMR. Motorola is. Motorola sells FAR more in the European and North american markets. The number of hytera systems here in the UK is at most 1/6th the amount of motorola systems. I'm not saying Hytera radios aren't good, I'm saying that it's factually incorrect to say that they're the market leader in DMR when they are nowhere close

Actually, Hytera will admit that Motorola leads in P25, but Hytera now leads in DMR. Hytera has backed me on that statement after seeing my video. I'm not saying you are wrong, but I am not saying I am wrong either.

I have the pre-ham version of the MD-782 and PD-782 and they work great. The only "challenge" is trying to import contacts as Hytera's database structure is pretty much locked down.

I'm looking for a case for the X1P that protects the entire radio and in which the radio can be operated through the case. Hytera's PCN005 case doesn't offer much protection. Any ideas? Also, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the feature set of the X1P vs the PD782. Am I correct?

Although the PD362 supports a total of 256 channels, with 128 for analog and 128 for digital, the number of contacts that is supported is limited to 64. Since (group) contacts are used to select the talk group, this imposes a limit of only 64 channels (unless you have channels of different frequencies that would use the same group contact). If you want to program private contacts so that an alias is displayed with the call sign / name of the station being received, that imposes a further limitation on the number of usable digital channels. I'm using a PD362 with an OpenSpot and am effectively limited to only 32 digital channels due to contact list limitations, which are being split between group contacts for talk group selection and a very small set of private contacts for alias display. This is the single most disappointing issue with the PD362. Unfortunately, Hytera (and many other manufacturers) do not provide a description of contact capacity in the radio specification. Ham radio users that intend to widely use the capabilities of the BrandMiester network are well advised to consider this.

Sr Viejo. This is, after all, a commercial radio - not amateur. Commercial users have totally different programming needs compared to amateur users. Same is true for Motorola, Tytera, Baofeng, Wouxun, Connect Systems DMR equipment.

Yes, I well realize that these the vast majority of DMR radios are designed for a commercial application. Regardless, amateur users need to be aware of their limitations (and in the case of the PD368, the severe limitation on contacts could conceivably impact even a commercial user). Baofeng is a Tier I radio, and virtually useless for repeater use. The TYT-380 holds 1000 contacts. The Connect Systems CS-75x/76x/80x series holds 65,280 contacts.

BTW: I don't think anyone who seriously works in the part 90 world would consider Baofeng or Wouxun as serious options. I maintain over two dozen of the former for local LEO/Fire/EMS/SAR, and they are absolute junk...

I have the PD782G and the MD782G. Both 400-470. They are Great radios.I keep my md782 in a pelican case and deploy it when I need it. One thing people should know about the md782 is you can remote Mount the head. The three screws on the bottom come off and then you can put the remote head adapter on. It's quite price thought.

KJ4 thanks for the review good job, I have a pair of the PD662 UHF model and they works great with my mototrbo portables and vertex evx 5400 mobiles they have great sound quality, battery life and I've dropped them a few times and so far no problem. we also use a small fleet of HYT 380 in the field they work great with all my radios. I'm looking at adding g the 782 mobile to our fleet 50 watts on digital goes a long g way! Thanks again

Bad review man, for ex. the x1p is intended to be used with the screen facing away from you. Didn't you notice the speaker placement??? If you put the radio on the belt clip you cant see the screen... that's why the buttons appear to be on the wrong side.
