I appreciate your perspective on David's videos on writing. I've been bingeing them recently and really enjoy them, even as I too disagree with some of the advice. However, I also watched Larry McEnerney's presentation "LEADERSHIP LAB: The Craft of Writing Effectively" at the University of Chicago, and it blew my mind with how much it changed how I think about writing. Highly recommended if you're into improving your writing.
Those presentations replicate what my head of course discussed with me in my 3rd year at uni. When I watched them I thought 'oh, I was told this before' 😅
@DannyTalksTech HOW TO WRITE. Keep up the good work. "How to write", is missing from mainstream teaching. I think it is deliberately missing. The Oxbridge are taught how to "blag" that its, to repeat thinking that sounds plausible, to talk confidently on a subject that they have no idea about. In mainstream schools we are not told how to think critically, or even how to learn. We are just given information and the gifted or trained are rewarded by spitting it out at an exam. You might also consider a series of "how to think". I can see my failure in English literature and language is directly linked to my failings in taking notes. Once you learn these skills they become platform agnostic. And no amount of Obsidian templates or hacks will fix this. The value you have is in changing my thinking for the better, thank you.
