You can take Africans from Africa, but you can’t take Africa out of Africans. I’ve seen black people from the diaspora specifically in Americas do all of these dances identically or at least similarly. We are great people.

Are the Scandinavian dances also very stiff on the torso? I am from Poland, living in Germany, lived in Scotland - there is amazing footwork in the folk dances in these areas but I really like how many African dances involve more movements of the hips, shoulders and chest - that's how my body likes to move. I am wondering where the rigidity of the European dances comes from.

0:43: To my knowledge, there is no one Gqom dance. The genre of Gqom has shone a light on a number of dances with their own names. The one I believe is being highlighted her is the vosho, characterized by the drop on one's hinds with a springing back up to an upright position nornally followed up by another dance move. The vosho is done with many itterations which include the extending on one leg before descent, after descent, the crossing of one leg around the other before descent etc. The main motion essentially is the swift drop down followed by the quick return up.

I see my native traditional dance in the beginning of the Vedeo, the girl dancing on stiks! We are part of runaway slaves! This a village in Surinam, small country in South America! To me, this is like a welcome back home!

Thank you for your culture then cause to me this was the best one! I used to jump double dutch( jumping and turning 2 ropes at the same time)but dancing on 2 huge sticks with everybody watching! No room for error. What happened if she m misses one or falls?. Does everybody rush in to catch her? Such balance.truly amazing

Mj's DNA took him to Ivory Coast, in the Sanwi region where he was declared Prince. When he died the village asked to have the body of his Prince back, which is a normal request as everybody has to return to the motherland. Now I understand why MJ was so gifted and I am particular proud.

Greetings from Jamaica 🇯🇲 Trelawny Albert Town All these moves are in the Afro-community allover the world. Being captured and turned into slaves there is 👎NO,NO DISAPPOINTMENT..JUST JOY WATCHING MY YOUNG COUSINS IN THE MOTHERLAND KEEPING WHAT BINDS US TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY, MUSIC, FOOD AND LOVE. GOD BLESS YOU FROM JAMAICA 🇯🇲 KINGSTON LAND OF MY BIRTH. MOTHERLAND AFRICA LAND OF MY ANCESTORS BIRTH. DONT EVER FORGET JAMAICA THE PRISON ISLAND. GOD BLESS MY ANCESTORS BECAUSE ONLY THE MOST FEARED AND PRESTIGIOUS WERE SENT THERE AND THE LIFE EXPECTANCY WAS 7YEARS. A HANDSOME YOUN AFRICAN BOY OF 15YEARS OLD WOULD BE DEAD BY 22 PRIME OF LIFE. BUT BE PROUD OF US WE SURVIVED TO TELL YOU OUR STORIES. I AM SURE MY ANCESTORS ARE REJOICING WHEREVER THEY ARE. THEIR SPIRIT IS AT REST. THEY TAUGHT US NEVER TO FORGET MOTHERLAND AFRICA AND WE NEVER DID. THOU FAR BUT NEAR IN HEART. WE DON'T HAVE NAMES OR LANGUAGE AND WE DONT WANT ONE BESTOWED UPON US WE ARE PROUD OF OUR HERITAGE A NATION WITHIN A NATION. CAPTURED PEOPLE OF AFRICA MUST NEVER FORGET WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR ANCESTORS.
