Idk about this lol. I’m 5’9 and 5 in inseam def look short on me. They’re in underwear territory when I train legs and they constantly ride up. But I prefer shorter. You may as well wear pants if you’re gonna go with 7 in inseams.
On shorter guys 5” inseams look better. I personally use 4” inseam for running. People look at me when I wear them to the gym. Last time I saw a couple staring at me I flexed my quads. Shorter shorts are nice if you have the legs for them.
At 5’5, a 5 inch inseam is more like a 7 inch inseam on me, so just find the inseam that works with your hight and according to wear you like them to lay, and experts do say for shorts to be no longer then right at the knee, and no shorter then 2 inches above the knee
When they say they like 5 inch anything with a really means, is they like the type of guys that can pull it off and look good. Which is not most men because you have to have very powerful legs to look good in five inch inseam.

It’s a preference. I wear 5 but I SEE why 7 is better and realize I’m like the only guy I know who likes em shorter people are too sensitive 😪😪 7 is the best option for a “normal” short
Lol my son is a body building gym guru and you will never catch him in shorts over 5in 🙈😆 he loves to show those legs off I guess 🤣 I also think it depends on your inseam. My son is shorter legged w a longer torso so 5in do look better on him I guess 🤷♀️
Girls don't like five inch inseam. What they actually mean is they like guys with nice legs😂. There's a big difference. Correlation is not causation lol. Because if you took 50 guys who had skinny legs No girls would say they look good in short short shorts. You gotta have leg muscles to make the five inch ones look good.
The shorts are still functional for running or leg day. But I also agree 7 inches is probably the best option to still go above the knee & not be too high up
Depends on how tall you are. Also if you think 5 is short then try cross country shorts. I’m a runner we wear those and yea that’s even worse than what your wearing rn.💀
