I got this camera at BIC Camera in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The thing I like the most is the freedom to crop along with the IQ in general. All that fancy autofocus stuff was completely wasted on me because I only used two manual Voigtlander lenses when I was in Japan. I got some great shots of the Kabukicho red-light district in Tokyo.
Interesting take on the screen Danny, it is the main reason I wanted a A7R5. Im currently waiting on a credit limit bump to my card so I can get one. If I don't get the limit increased Ill get the A74, but Im keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
End of the day, it’s down to personal preference with a lot of this stuff. I’ve been filming this morning with the R5 and then the s3 this evening and i really do prefer the look of the s3 over the r5 when it comes to video especially. Can’t really put my finger on it other than the it looks like less contrast - and it’s not anything to do with the profile or monitoring lut. But regardless, they both look fine once you get editing so it’s something I can live with! As long as I can frame and exposure a shot, i’m happy 😂 Fingers crossed for you Mark!! Really hope you get what you want but if not, the A7iv is still an epic camera to use ✌🏻

I agree with everything you said, but I returned it for the a7iv because I didn't like the grip/ergo. It seems they made it a tab bigger and IMO it's uncomfortable vs a7iv.

You like the video, but how is rolling shutter, when vlogging (walking) with it? This is my biggest questionmark. If image quality is still good, and not washed out in such circomstand i'm getting the a7r5 no matter what, but that is the last doubt on my mind.

Funny. I watched the review where you talk about the advantages of the a7r5, but in the end I was upset because I knew all these pluses, but this is the first video where I heard that the screen of this camera is worse than Sony a7siii version
I don't have any real experience with the A7Riv I'm afraid so can't comment. But in comparison to my A7Siii which came out a year after the A7Riv the AF on this A7Rv is much better. Yeah, one you need to set it to what situation you are in but for the most part, it just works and is incredibly acurate
Great video! I got my camera about 5 days ago and I love it!!! I did not get the a1 because I don't like the rear screen! Although the a7r5 is slower, the AF is insane for birds in flight. I noticed the LCD monitor was a little bleach out. You can go into the menu and increase the saturation, sharpness, contrast! Non of this has an effect on your photos. I believe it is called "picture style"! I love the screen because I do landscape, wildlife, macro! Shooting in portrait at ground level was a real pain!!! (a7riii) If I have fast action I have the a9, but the AF is not as good as the a7r5!!!!👍👍👍

I've moved from canon, and I love it.......98% off the time. Only three negatives: - it's nowhere near as comfortable in the hand. - the menus are not as intuitive - I'm struggling with WB. On canon, it was always correct. On sony, I'm spending more time in processing trying to get a natural look. In particular, the sky tends to be a bit more turquoise (?), and getting a realistic blue without shifting the land colours is irritating me. I'm sure I'll find a solution in the menu, but I'm still learning the sony traits
I actually think the whitebalance of the a7rv is damn accurate even in auto which is surprising for once. Not reslly sure why you’re getting a shift in colour. You don’t have any kind of tint going on in your white balance? If you press right on your white balance menu, you can check. The dot should ideally be centred. The menus are a little annoying for anybody coming from Canon. You get used to the layout eventually, they have improved a fair amount. If it’s any conciliation, i was using a Canon R5 last week and had no idea how to change anything 😂😂 if you need any help then just ask, i’ll do my best
You can get a canon R50 $600usd camera and have similar or better autofocus than this. Also 4k is crap on this camera unless you crop in. Only thing good is the screen and autofocus everything else is over priced.
Initially interested, but your bleeped out swear words are really quite unnecessary. If you are going to swear casually, be true to yourself and let it out, and then mark you videos as adult only.
