I watched this video last night, made my morning coffee today and ON MY FIRST TRY I made more progress than I have in months. Pour speed, spout distance and starting too far back in the cup were my issue. THANK YOU PAPA LANCE FOR BEING AMAZING.

At first this video totally depressed me, because all of the "mistakes" looked much better than anything I have been able to pour. My hearts look more like leaves. But after carefully studying the video, I found the section on flow rate very helpful. I had been following Emilee Bryant's advise to slow down the flow rate while pouring the design so the pour was the width of a pencil. This morning I poured a bit faster and got my first ever heart! Hopefully things will get better from here. Thank you Lance for all you do!!!

Lance, I have been working at and failing for the past several months at basic latte art. Thank you for posting this video. Too many videos I’ve seen show how-to and assume there will be no mistakes. These type of videos are more helpful to me because the assumption is something will go wrong.

Ah yes, its been a while. I remember I discovered your channel from your latte art tutorials, but stayed for your passionate and entertaining commentary. I can honestly say I always try to use your tips when steaming milk and dialing espresso. Been trying to perfect latte art but where I work they have mugs that aren't symmetrical... guess they got them for a discounted price. I'm hoping to convince them to invest in good mugs when they eventually buy a new espresso machine (They have a 1 group machine which has'nt been serviced in ages) even with all those disadvantages I still manage to do pour some cool stuff, all thanks to you.

Amazing Video Lance! Are you using the wpm handless pitcher? If so, do you have one with wide or "sharp" spout and which one would you recommend? I would call myseld an intermediate at latte art. I'm looking for a good pitcher, but don't want tu buy twice since it's pretty expensive here in Europe. So I'm wondering whether I should get the one with the wide spout (which will be better for beginners-intermediate I guess) or one with the sharp spout (which may be for more intermediate-professionals?) Thanks in advance!

Well Lance, I thought I was doing okay but this video made me realize I'm a long way for pouring even decent latte art. I tried putting all of these into practice immediately after watching it and the result was that I ended up overthinking and doing every single one of these as poorly as you can imagine lol. I think I'll need to start with one at a time and work from there. A little unrelated but do you have any recommendations for latte mugs that you enjoy pouring art with? I wonder if you could grab a few different bottles of alternative milks. I think that might be my main hurdle after watching all of your latte art videos. Aldi Oat milk I'm really inconsistent with. I got my hands on some Mylk and have had a bit more success but not compared to whole milk which I don't really drink. Also do lactose-free milks work the same?
@LanceHedrick

all these milk will work similarly. Just vary the stretching to the milk. Pouring will be a bit different. More aggressive with some, more gentle with others.
