After exploring Koh Lanta Island in Thailand for several days I headed to a remote small town called Old Town Lanta or Lanta Old Town whatever you want to call it.

It didn't take me long to find 5 local brothers in this small fishing village.
I witnessed them making handmade fishing poles out of long heavy solid green/yellow bamboo.
They cut the fishing line cut to length using razor sharp machetes and knives to perfect length and even attached gigantic hooks tying incredibly strong intricate knots.
I wasn't sure they were going to work but they showed me some fish they previously caught in a cooler!
We then ventured out to the water and it was low tide so the boys walked out very far knee deep in mud way out into the water of the Andaman sea.
I even tried to catch fish myself but immediately realized they needed longer lines and actual real fishing rods.
Our ridiculous adventure continued to a local fishing store where the owner helped us out immensely with purchasing the right poles, reels, bobbers, sinkers and more!!
When we headed back the boys picked a different spot to fish under the pier with their new gear that I bought them!
Finally, they caught a fish and it made this topped off the whole journey here in Old Town Lanta!
