I personally got into Math Rock cuz of Rob Scallon and his Anchor ep, I didn’t even know this was even Math Rock at the time, but I LOVED it nonetheless, first songs I’ve tried playing were Rain and For That Second, my personal favorites 😊
You should take a look at Jyocho/uchu conbini if you haven't already. Their style is so unique and the way they use shifting time signatures is so seamless.
OHH man, perfect timing on this video. I needed some fresh riffs to try out!! Thanks for the best math rock content Steve! After Dark has to be one of my all time favorite Delta Sleep song, just outstanding.
Clicked the video, saw Tricot on the first chapter marker, immediate like. Tricot rule, Covet are a big fav. I'm planning on working on my lead playing within the next year or so, and math rock is a great vibe to practice in, once I've got the basics down of course!
Thanks man! I don't know much about the genre, let alone a lot of artists, but I know that I like the sound and would like to explore it more; your channel has been very helpful in doing so so far!
Hey Steve, it's been about 2 year since I got into math rock. I've been playing some songs as best as I could on acoustic but I have been thinking of getting an electric. Problem is, as mainly a drummer I know very little when it comes to what are good guitars. Is there any fairly affordable reccomendations you have guitar wise? Thanks
Tricot and Covet! My two favourite bands. Still struggling with Pool but I'll get there. Would you ever do a digital tone rundown? Struggling to get Tricot tone from my Amplitube because I have no idea what I'm doing, cheers
Nice! The timing at the beginning of POOL is pretty challenging. The last couple of cycles of the intro are different strumming patterns which makes it hard to nail. As far as I am aware I'd go with a marshall type setting and a single coil strat sound. Either the middle pickup or the bridge, can't remember exactly. I think the free version of amplitube comes with a marshall amp haha
