Hi, I'm Steve, and welcome to the channel. Here, we're all about helping each other get better at playing math rock style guitar.
While I'm no connoisseur of math rock, I am a huge fan of the style, and most of my playing is inspired by it. And I'd say my wheelhouse is the blending of Math Rock and Midwest Emo styles of guitar.
Overall, the aim of this channel is to share my knowledge in hopes that it will save you tons of time, frustration, wasted energy on your own guitar learning journey.
Best, Steve

Steve I know you see me bitching about tone videos (I always love seeing what updates you make to your rig, I’ve been watching since 2018) and I was wondering if you’d ever do a video about how to record and mix emo/math rock. I’m assuming the mixing and recording philosophy differs from the quad tracking of the metal world (which there is plenty of info on but isn’t specific to math rock and emo with their clean and slightly overdriven guitars). I’ve been listening to your band for years and wondered what you guys did in the mixing/recording. Thanks for always making great stuff :D
hello! not at all. appreciate the comment. I have that, and a tone video using budget gear on my list of videos to make so there'll be one coming soon! As for the mixing part ect all i really do is the recording and production of my guitar parts and the mixing and mastering was done by a professional. Though I could talk a little bit about how I record my guitar and stuff in the video. Thanks again!
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock that would be awesome, going over your recording process and stuff before mixing and mastering would be such a huge help to us DIY emo dudes
what pickups are in this tele??? i’m building a custom tele right now so i went to a local music store to try out a couple pickup options and none were twinkly enough for me. If you could let me know i’d really really appreciate it!!!!
Hello! Thanks for the question. They are the stock pickups that come with this model, an American Original Thinline Tele. But unfortunately they don't sell them separately. In my experience, thinline guitars tend to sound a bit more airy/brittle compared to solid body teles so that might be why they do. However, I recently owned an American Performer tele and the Yosemite pickups in that guitar were on the brighter side and sounded great. I'm pretty sure you can find a pair of those!
