Thanks for the tip, I always was an e5 kind of guy against e4, actually my whole black repertoire was still pretty weak not that long ago, and I now think any lines in the sicilian are solid as hell if studied enough, I've been recently trying to play it as my e5 response was actually doing a favor to my opponent allowing them to choose what they wanted to play, often ending up into Danish/Scotch/Italian/Ruy lopez (or some exotic gambits), I have a good solid response to most of those openings, but it always feels like white is battling on his ground while the sicilian is literally black saying "we are gonna play this game on my field" and I like that philosophy of taking the lead from move one forcing the opponent to adapt. So far, I'm around 1900 rapid and 2300 tactics and sicilian seems to be the defense I always overlooked because it was too daunting for me but who now seems to be super tactical, aggressive yet versatile which is exactly fitting my playing style. Budapest or semi-slav against d4 Sicilian or Alekhine against e4 My black repertoire is starting to become solid as hell, and it's mostly because of your videos, thanks Eric!

Sorry, when white moves his middle pawn forward threatening blacks Knight, why is it good to move the queen out? Wouldn't the pawn just take the Knight anyway?
@absolutelyjesse
@absolutelyjesse 3 года назад
The Queen checks the King, so the pawn can't take. Once Black moves its King to safety, White's Queen is free to take the pawn.

2:40 Qg4 forking the knight and pawn?

@edriccls4546 3 года назад
That doesn't make any sense
@arya6085
@arya6085 3 года назад
@@edriccls4546 it does make sense however it's a poisoned pawn really. 9. Qg4 Nf6 10. Qxg7 Rg8. Stockfish says the position is fairly equal however black is for choice. And according to the lichess data base black has much better winning chances. I'll admit I couldn't just see this. However a bit of analysis shows the fork not to be worth it

@peterlustig4300
@peterlustig4300 2 года назад
Good question. It's a common line and playable for both sides. Take with the b-pawn, play Nd5 and take with the c-pawn if White plays Nxd5. If 8.Ne4, play Qc7 and from there on the lines derivate. I recommend you to look at the Lichess opening explorer and analysis board
