You don't need to have a ton of tools or handy man knowledge to build this riser. With little effort, you can my your stage look even more impressive by putting your drummer in view. Drummers are awesome and fun to watch, let's get them off the ground, so they can be seen!
The whole project cost just under $500

We have been doing this for years in our band and absolutely love how easy and sturdy it is. Totally recommend this method as it is super strong and also VERY easy to set up/tear down as well as haul.

Nice. We have fabricated a few risers for our act using similar construction. We found that adding carpet on the bottom side of plywood, as well, provides sufficient friction that the lid are not needed.

This is excellent. I was about to make a stage for working as a duo and it's given me some ideas.

I just started in playing in an acoustic duo, that's a fun idea! It would set you apart for sure. Let me know if you end up building it and how it works for you.

@@DustinRadtkeI'll be a while. I'm recovering from surgery for the next few months.

It’s crazy to think this is strong enough! I have show coming up where I showcase my student’s drumming skills, is this definitely strong enough? I have a 7 piece Yamaha Stage Custom and worried about the weight on the plastic buckets given they’re only plastic! Thank you!

Absolutely! We had a large drum kit on a rack, and a drummer, who weighs about 270 lbs, used it with no issues. The buckets are quite strong and they help distribute the load evenly across all of them.

What is the thickness of the plywood?

3/4" It's rock solid. I tested 1/2" but it was too weak. Unless you reinforce it with another layer in parts.

@@DustinRadtke I think they meant they'd like a video of you physically setting it up from start to finish so they can see how it's put together. I'm interested in the latches and how well they function.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, that does makes sense. We have a gig this weekend, so I will film a youtube short for it and I'll link it here when I get it uploaded.
