Hi Molly, this is a great video. I am about to start on Cambly shortly. I'm just familiarising myself with the Platform, the Crash Course (Tutor Guide) before I complete my schedule (Priority Hours and Reservations) and start chatting with students. Your video is very motivating and informative. Nervous but excited. Thank you for your tips and hints!:)
What an encouraging and positive video! I am so excited to finally be a part of the Cambly family, and I can't wait to tutor new students - Thank you for all your hints and tips!
I enjoyed this video, I'm nervous about video, but i know it has to be done. I love talking to people especially from other parts of the world, we learn so much from one another.
Loving my tutor journey on Cambly. I no longer worry about finishing a lesson with my students. We’ve either gone off grid to discuss something, or I’ve spent extra time clarifying a learning point.
OMG, Thank you. I have retired from full-time brick and mortar classroom teaching after 32 years. I have not yet accepted my first student with Cambly because I wanted to learn more about the platform before I dove into the deep end. Your presentation is great. You offer useful information for someone like me who is just beginning, and I am thankful for that. I think you did a great job presenting your five mistakes and added a little humor to help reinforce the information. Great job, Molly, and thank you again.
Thank you for those kind words, Ted! We hope you have a great time once you start tutoring. For more support and advice from fellow tutors, you may want to join our FB group (Cambly Corner). They will help you if you get stuck. Happy tutoring!
Thank you for this video Molly, i just signed in yesterday and waiting to be approved, I'm kinda nervous but also excited. I hope to jave a good teaching experience here. I love your videos, it only keep reassuring me that ill love it here at cambly.
I applied day before yesterday and I am eagerly waiting for an approval email😃. I have been watching Cambly videos for days now I am so excited I hope I get in. This company really seems like the best option! Thanks for the videos Molly I saw most of your videos some more than once lol. Quick question molly, In my demo lesson I put props of shapes I made up in the camera a few times during the lesson to ensure the "student" gets a good look at the shape and color, is there a chance my video will be rejected because of this? I am worrying now and want to know if I should just take that video down and upload a new one?🤔
Hi Kylie, what you did with the props sounds fine, don't worry ☺️ If there's a problem with the video, the team will let you know and you'll have a chance to record it again. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you and thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for the video. I am in the process of signing up with Cambly and am just wondering if it is difficult to get students in the beginning? Are students automatically allocated to you or do they pick you? Thank you.
Hi Nana, most tutors sign up for Priority Hours, which helps students find available tutors when they want to chat. The best way to get more students at the beginning is to make sure you have a good, friendly video and a great profile. Tell students why you'd be a terrific tutor for them!
This may seem like a silly question but how do you answer all calls during a priority hour? Say for instance you are on a call already are we really expected to hang up on that student to take another incoming call? Will you be penalized for not answering a call if you are currently on one?
Great question Ty! The only time you should be hearing the ringtone inside the classroom is when one of your reservations is calling. You shouldn't be getting calls from random students while already in a chat! 😯 Please make sure you only have one Cambly tab open at a time. If you keep experiencing the same problem, please don't hesitate to contact Tutor Support! 🙂
Hi React2022! When you're done for the day, you can set yourself to Invisible and log out. If you are doing Reservations and are done for the day, the system does not set you back to Visible so you're good to go. Hope this helps!
Hi I'm new to the platform. It's been going great thus far and about the only awkward part for me is how to comfortably end the call. Often times I'm down to the final seconds to end the session and I can just imagine how that must seem on the students side of the camera. Do you have any tips for how and when to start winding down to end the session? TIA
That's a fantastic question! Many tutors start wrapping up at the 1-2 minute mark, letting their student know that time is almost up. They might ask if the student has any questions about their lesson that day or they might just have a casual little conversation about what they might do for the rest of the day. It's really up to you! We confess that sometimes, we are so focused on the student that we lose track of time too 🤭
Hi Molly. Please help I ve been applying for becoming a tutor from cambly platform but that connection test is just holding me back. I have tried several times to do what they guiding me to do with no success. Please help
Hi there! Our connection test is very important as it lets us know tutors have a strong, stable internet connection. Try connecting your computer directly (with a cable) to your router to ensure the most stable connection. Best of luck!
Hi Molly, If I am only interested in teaching on Cambly Kids right now, do I have to apply to the Cambly Adults as well? Or can I just apply to Cambly Kids? Thanks very much. Regards Laura
Hi Laura, you can just apply to Cambly Kids if you'd like. Once approved, however, you will be eligible to take calls on Cambly Classic if you choose to do so. For great tips on getting started with Cambly Kids, check out our video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HO94GquxnOE.html
Hi Juan, tutors can do either. Setting up a schedule is very helpful though, as regular students may want to have a set time to have their lessons. Happy tutoring!
Hi Melissa, if you are still having trouble after refreshing your dashboard, please contact Tutor Support for troubleshooting steps. We hope it's sorted out quickly!
Hi Melissa, tutors can see their total numerical rating, but not individual ratings (to protect student privacy.) Tutors can, however, see testimonials made about them--go to your Tutor Profile page and scroll all the way down to manage Testimonials and/or Badges. 😃
Hi Lucila, you can reapply! You may want to watch our videos on how to make a great first impression video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W3vKpLwNf1c.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y1uDur2fJa8.html. Best of luck to you :)
Aww, Kitty Blue, we've all been there. It really does get easier the more you do it--it also helps to get repeat students so that it's like meeting a friend for a chat. It goes from "nervous" to "fun" pretty quickly! If you are a current tutor, it might help to chat with a veteran tutor. You should have free student minutes in your account to call one of us and ask any questions that are on your mind!
Great question Shiana! You can save links when outside of the classroom right from your Library tab. 😊 Check out this video for more info: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SpNFBZabwIo.html
Hi! I'm Kris I applied a few days ago and I really hope I can get accepted in the Cambly Family. I'm from the Philippines is it still qualified for me to apply? Here's me hoping >.
Hello. I am subscribed to your channel, and love watching your videos. I applied at the end of October. And my status application says: “Your profile is under review. In the meantime, you can access your profile and make any edits using the menu on the left.” I wonder if I would still get an acceptance email soon. I would love to teach on Cambly, everything sounds exciting. If anything needs to be changed on my application, from my video introduction or the type of clothes Worn during the video, would I get an email explaining what needs to be change? Thank you in advance.
Hi Rosette! It can take up to a few months for your video to be reviewed. If there is something which needs to be addressed (like proper dress or poor audio, for example) you will receive an email asking you to rerecord and instructions will follow. Good luck!
Native speakers come from all over the world. It doesn't matter where you are from as long as you grew up as a native English speaker. I hope that clarifies things for you.
Hi Anele, that's disappointing news 😞 We don't have access to that feedback here, sorry. You may want to check out some of the things the team looks for when hopefuls submit their videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y1uDur2fJa8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W3vKpLwNf1c.html It may be a simple fix if you decide to try again!
Hi there and welcome to Cambly! There are a few ways to speak to a tutor--you can have Cambly pick an available tutor for you, you can wait for the tutor you'd like to talk to or you can make a reservation with a tutor of your choice. If you want to make a reservation, it's always a nice gesture to send the tutor a message to let them know you are a new student and what you'd like to work on. We hope you find the perfect tutor for your Cambly journey!
