It's possible the key is to take care of it like you would if it wasn't in braids wash, deep condition, condition, moisture, oil it all that just keep up with the normal routine it gets easy to access the scalp after 3weeks the growth would have lifted the braids of your scalp so you do whatever, massage even literally everything

Keeping hair in definitely makes your hair grow and I tried it. The way I detangle, I unplait each braid, take my spray bottle with water and add some conditioner, shake it up, part my hair, spray it in my scalp (massage it in until the build up melts), and saturate the strands of my hair with. Ignore those who have a side comment about the way you decide to take care of YOUR hair.

You inspired me to try 5 months 😭 I did 3 months last year with knotless braids and right now I’m on month 2 with some mini braids. I took down some braids to see the growth and 😍 just wow. Crazy how washing, spraying with water and grease can do the best for your hair. Ima keep these in 3 more months 🤞🏾 the trick isn’t only to keep it maintained but to try new/different styles! Cuttung the braids shorter, curling the ends, wearing a head wrap etc. just switch it up so you don’t get bored 😌 also, for anyone suffering from dry scalp try the greenhouse method! It works!

@TheAmani0699
@TheAmani0699 Год назад
@@malaika3231 agreed, but I know this mainly happens when you don’t wash and moisturize them. I now have locs and I started them with twists. it’s been super beneficial in my length retention and my hair is also getting thicker. I believe the only reason I’ve had such good results it because I keep them moisturized and don’t manipulate my hair too much and this prevents breakage
@TheAmani0699
@TheAmani0699 Год назад
@@naturalhairssentials2407 GHE (Greenhouse Effect) is a method used to help retain moisture in dry hair by using a plastic cap (or plastic bag) to create a warm and moist atmosphere, like in a greenhouse. The heat and moisture on the scalp help stimulate sebum production (our hair’s natural oil) and helps penetrate each strand. Folks who have tried this method have reported softer, silkier and easier hair to detangle. It also helps detox and cleanse the scalp of any buildup. It’s just like deep conditioning except you don’t wash your hair out!

keeping braids in does not "make your hair grow" lol. your hair is always growing unless medically otherwise. All it is is Length Retention!! Think about it...its how dread heads can grow their hair very long because they are RETAINING everything thats growing from their scalp. if you are focusing on "fast hair growth" with no proper maintenance you are wrong, you wont retain the length because your hair can still grow "fast" but break off, if that makes sense. even with braids you still cant neglect your hair if you want to retain whats growing at whatever rate.

Hair is apart of hygiene as well. You think someone wants to lay next to someone with their scalp gunked up? Not to mention all growth ain’t healthy growth. There is a niche for black women abandoning their hair and it’s enabling black women not to care for their hair. Black women state all the time hair is important to them but take care of the bundles more than their hair 💯 She has just over 1k subscribers and got a bunch of views from being trifling. Keep eating unhealthy and eventually the doctor will tell you, something is wrong and you have to do something about it. Hair can only take so much abuse before it decides to break off. Abusing your hair definitely isn’t the solution 💯 Her hair is long but it looks dry. Her hair survived this time but if she keeps doing this, I promise it will be major breakage. I think it's still a good idea to wash your hair while it's in these braids and moisturize it just as you normally would. Because that build up, woah, how did your scalp survive??😂😂😂 Since they're in the braids, you have better access to your scalp and wash days don't take as long because you don't have to detangle. And since you're wearing them under a wig, the frizziness that comes with washing the hair isn't such a huge deal because it's not 'ruining the style' or anything. But I know it's a bit satisfying to have extremely dirty hair and wash it nice and clean. Like the transformation is so gratifying😂

@@zooweellama not if she washed them. Black women do that all the time to keep braids and prevent stinking. I even do that for my kids to keep braids long.

@@ricaivory6571 bruh, literally look at her head. she was not washing them braids 😭😭 "Black women do that all the time to keep braids and prevent stinking" this is definitely an assumption. Alot of black women do not wash their braids and if they did it damn sure wouldnt look like hers in the video. Atleast for me the one time i washed my hair while in braids it matted up and i lost a lot of hair when taking it down. This is why i dont wash my hair when its braided but this also means i cant leave them in for too long.

Am I the only person who wears my cornrows regular, like I don’t wear wigs or lace fronts or anything, but I will rock my cornrows and I leave them in for a good 3-4 weeks too

It’s the college student part for me I do not have the time baby, being in nursing school. I would wear my braids for minimum 3 months.

Protective styles don't "make your hair grow." Your hair is always growing. The growth seems exponential because you haven't seen your hair out for months. I'm not against this process. We just need to stop acting like hair grows differently under these conditions. It's still going to shed. Just take care of your hair and you will retain length.

Did your scalp get itchy during that 5 month time period. I usually keep my braids in 6 weeks because my scalp gets itchy

New subscriber here! Thanks for the video. Please consider showing us your detangling process. I'm considering doing this method however, my hair tangles so bad. How long do you let your hair rest before putting braids back in?

You shed 50-100 hairs a day. So what you see in this video is pretty much natural daily hair loss but over the span of 5 months. Since her hair was braided the hair shed but stayed inside the braids.
