Shadow Hearts was only published in NA by Midway, hence the strange genre choice. Aruze was the actual dev. They would later go all in on the Japanese pachinko market. There are Shadow Hearts pachinko machines in fact lol.
Fun Fact to Drakengard: The story is linked to Nier storyline. Not going to much into detail, because of spoilers, but for those interested, there are a bunch of websites going deeper to this topic. Another great thing about Drakengard is, that later in the game you unlock other characters and the way you complete mission task the story takes another direction. Definitely a recommended game for Nier and Nier Automata fans. The other 2 Drakengard titles are also great, 3rd one is on PS3
Things to know before getting into the sequels to shadow hearts: Shadow hearts covenant: shadow hearts 2, Continues the story of the original game. A new world: Off shoot side game that’s story is great when also under the effects of Painkillers. (I literally beat it while I was recovering from broken fingers since it was a one handed game, I also was under a lot of pain killers) it’s wacky and fun and try not to take it too seriously.
I remember grabbing the third Shadow Heart game when I was in University. I didn't sink too much time into it due to my degree and by the time I was done, I'd lost a lot of interest in JRPGs, but I did enjoy what I had played. My interest in the genre has since returned, and I'd like to see the three Shadow Heart games remastered and ported to modern systems so I can get another chance to play the series.
I have shadiw hearts, havent played it tho and i dont really trust the ps2 as it kinda scratched the fuck out of my discs thanks to that tray it has, I would need one if those slims ps2s to be safer
Oh shoot that sucks! Yeah definitely keep and eye out for a slim model, preferably one that's been nicely refurbished because they have a pretty high failure rate due to the laser being kinda poor, but once fixed they're fine.
Cool video! Chaos Legion is one of my favorite PS2 games, when Astral Chain came out for the Switch, I was completely baffled that no one saw the copy it was to Chaos Legion. Maybe they share some of the team behind it, don't know.
@@RetroMediaRoom Yeah I guess so...I just didn't get how nobody in the review scene pointed that similarity, maybe because Chaos Legion got so little press overall.
Ah- never heard of Chaos Legion and I love me an anime protag with red hair and swords. It looks like it was really fun summoning your own troops like that.
