After the last video, we got some questions about items that weren't covered. Some viewers helped answer and I did my best. As a result I spent some time researching and documenting these items
1. Am I running the wrong gas?
2. Can my cell phone cause a fire at the pump?
3. Why are there two sets of switches for the headlights?
4. How are the heated grips different than other bikes and how do they work?
5. Can you reset the maintenance tool icon on the dash after doing your own service?

Interesting video thank you. Here in the uk our fuel is at least 95 octane. E10 or E5. I use E5 in my V85 because of many bad reports about E10. Also some reports claim better fuel economy with E5, so using E10 could be false economy. Regarding the light switches, I keep catching the high beam switch with my finger which is a nuisance. I've fitted a rubber donut to stop my hand sliding up and hitting the switch accidently!

Love your rubber donut idea. If we could get e5 here with 95 RON octane, I'd definitely do it. In my neck of the woods, all of the non-ethanol gas has really low octane. I really don't like any ethanol but it's our only choice to get the best octane. Thanks for watching Graeme!

Was in NH a couple weeks ago doing the nebdr and had to ues non ethanol 91. The bike really hated it. Could have been the warm weather or altitude but pinged like a mad man.

MAX of E-10 is what my manual says. There is some verbiage about higher than that causing damage. Generally speaking, more ethanol gets you lower fuel economy and requires more frequent maintenance intervals because it is "dirtier". A quick look in any flex fuel car manual will scare you lol. Thanks for the video. Very helpful information!

Subbed Sir . Thanks from the Uk . That horrible bio fuel causes all sorts of trouble , with our older bikes in particular , which need new fuel lines and tap/filters made to take the bio stuff to be fitted . A friend with a Commando buys non bio fuel at a station near to a race track ( Castle Combe , outside of Bristol ) , but that is a quite a few miles out of his usual routes . There he can get Avgas , I think that is over 95 octane , but the bio stuff , even the highest octane , causes blockages if it is not used up in two weeks , whatever fuel 'stabilizer' is used . This guy is a Rolls Royce engineer , so no fool and his word can be trusted . Fog lights and driving lamps are controlled differently , I mean the fogs light with dip and driving lamps light with main beam . Is your Guzzi wired for both ? Are you allowed in the States to have both fog and driving lamps fitted ; I am fairly sure in the UK we are only allowed one or the other , but I repeat ... is the Guzzi set up to take either ? I ask as I am lusting after the TT Travel ! Cheers .

Did you know: when the engine is off (key on), and the light switch in position 2, the low beam automatically turns on when you move the bike. Handy when you have to move it in the dark…!

isn't ethonal tough on plastics? the early plastics, connectors, lines and tanks included, by paiggio, ducati, guzzi had problems with distortion or delamination.

Fun Fact: Guzzi Diag doesn't work on E5... So sad!

At last - someone who recognises that E10 fuel is fine in modern engines. There’s so much prejudice against E10 without any basis in fact. Ethanol has a higher octane rating than gasoline and a higher oxygen content so burns much better - hence its use in NASCAR racing. Regular gasoline is full of additional chemicals to boost the octane rating and increase the oxygen content - gasoline is very far from the “pure” fuel people think it is.

my rule of thumb has been, you can run ethanol - just cant store it for over a month without it possibly turning to pancake syrup - ish. it will never be my last tank of the season for that reason

@@psalwasser brilliant timing as funnily enough I’ve just, this very day, taken my motorcycle out of winter storage - a very wet British winter at that - and started it up for the first time since October last year. It was left with some E10 fuel in the tank and despite dire warnings it fired up first crank and ran as normal throughout my first run of the season. Same with my petrol lawn mower a couple of weeks ago. It was the same story last year so I for one don’t fret about E10 fuel, I just stick it in and forget about it.

The manual simply says that fuel vapors may cause damage to objects... Objects like your cell phone. In no way is the manual even remotely suggesting that your phone could ignite the vapors. But the vapors do indeed have solvent properties (hold Styrofoam above a jar of gasoline without touching the gas and you'll see that the vapors alone begin to damage the Styrofoam).

So.. It's just warning you that fuel vapors can damage and weaken your phone (like acetone vapors do). If attorneys wanted the message in the manual, it's because they want to avoid law suits from people melting their phones and tablets, etc. Lol

In Germany it is forbitten to use a cell phone on EVERY filling station. But nobody cares. 😮 Just a hint: would you put your head in a micro wave? We are talking abour 900 MHz or 1800 MHz (depending on GSM net) and 2 W for emission power of the cell phone. Just use your brain.
