I've been riding dirt bikes for 11 years I'm getting my drivers licence in a couple months and then I'm immediately gonna start the process for my motorcycle endorsement. I don't know what size bike to get I know I want a sport bike I'm currently riding a kx250 I want a 1000 but at the same time I don't.
bro have been watching your vids since October of 2020 and I really have been wanting to get a bike ever since. I am now 16 and have over a year to get a bike license XD. However, i am overweight and I don't think I should be riding which that thought makes me kind of scared of loosing the interest of riding. I have watched hundreds maybe even thousands of videos about what beginner bikes are good to start on. Granted, from what I have seen, starting on a lower cc bike is better in the long run from everything like excitement over getting a new bigger CC bike to having to learn all the basics from scratch. however, from what I have said earlier, I am an overweight person and so I don't think that like starting on a 400cc for example would be beneficial to me as starting on a 600. I am around 235 pounds (107) kilograms. and I think that I won't be able to have the fun of riding if I started on a 400CC because of this reason. I have been stumped ever since October of 2020 and I still am. I would LOVE for you to give me some advice on this rather daunting thought. (edit): I didn't realize how much I wrote until I sent it. Sorry for the bother.
I really appreciate your support watching my channel! I actually enjoy the long comments and I typically leave long replies myself so thats no worry at all! Honestly we have a huge amount in common. I wanted to ride since I was probably 6 (dirt bikes) and was never allowed. From 15-18 years old I went to motorcycle dealers and sat on bikes all the time, I watched RU-vid about motorcycles 24/7. That’s the reason I started RU-vid. 235 is hardly overweight for motorcycles.. think about taller guys in shape can still be 235. I expected you to say you were over 300 lol.. I myself was 215ish last year (180 now) and I didn’t notice bikes feeling any less powerful, even my wife’s mt03. With all of that said you would be completely fine on a 400cc starter bike. If you want more power or really worry about your weight I’d say get a 650 such as a ninja 650 or mt07. That would be more than enough power. I strongly recommend you don’t start on a 600cc Supersport class bike such as an r6, gsxr600, etc. I made a video about the difference between a 650 and 600 but basically a 650 is usually around double the power of a 300/400 and a 600 is around double a 650. I hope this all helped! Feel free to ask anything you need, I was in your shoes
@@JonesBrosGarage thank you so much for the fast response and I really am glad to hear those words. Ride safe and make sure you don't hurt yourself so I can meet you in a couple years time 😂😂 also one more thing I am a talk kid like 180~ CM or around 6ft tall so I don't really like the ninja 400 alot for some reason unlike the MT-07 which felt comfy however, i feel as though the Mt has too much torque for a flat out beginner who really has no time under their belt (me). So if you do not mind answering this question it would be very helpful 😅. Is there a bike that has more power than the ninja 400 but is more comfy and better to commute than the Mt 07( ofc less torque than the Mt).
@@mohammedfaris5125 no problem! And I’ll do my best! I actually plan on getting more into track riding soon to help get some of my speed demons out safely lol! For 6 feet tall I’d hardly consider you overweight by the way, you’ll have no issue riding motorcycles. Honestly I really don’t think the Mt07 is too much. The thing about power is it really matters how it’s delivered, not necessarily how much there is. Like a 600cc Supersport is gutless until 8,000rpm and then becomes a rocket ship. A 650 class twin such as the mt07 behaves more like a 400 class, it’s very smooth and gradual with no power spikes anywhere in the rev range. I honestly really strongly suggest the ninja 650 if you’d be interested in it. It’s a little less power than the mt07 and still comfy but will feel like enough power for a long time and won’t be overwhelming to start on. If you really want something with a smaller motor but fit for a taller rider I can’t tell you enough how amazing a supermoto can be. My Husqvarna 701sm is the best bike I’ve ever owned hands down.. with that said you could consider a drz400sm or klx300sm, again they will have enough power but not too much. 👍
@@JonesBrosGarage Life saver. nothing less and everything more. thanks for all your time I know you have a lot of time management problems trying to edit those vids so really thanks for your time.
