I am looking to buy my first bike. Been wanting one for years. I want to go fast and get a powerful bike but i got a family that loves me and wants to do right😔 gotta start on a 400 and probably won’t upgrade for a while

You're telling me its harder to learn throttle control on a bike with a more responsive throttle and a larger range of power, and its easier to learn throttle control on a bike that is more forgiving? Mind you, you said harder, not that its more dangerous if you meas it up. That sounds like garbage to me.

Apples and oranges comparison. This is like comparing a skateboard to a one-wheel.

195lb old dude and it is this bike, a Yamaha WR250x, TW200, or DRZ400. Used to be 'stupid' on a bike in my youth so probably a low CC option would be smart.

Takes some time for sportbikeriders to acclimate to these kinda bikes. This bike you change gears on lower revs because the torque lives there. Don't be afraid to change gears sooner.

I just purchased my MT-07 2024 and I agree. This bike checks all the boxes for me. I had a cbr 500 and still have a VTX Honda 1300 and this one seems to do everything better and still gives me highway speed. I pick it up this week and I am so stoked. Thanks for a good review.

In my eyes, you can start on anything as long as you respect the power. I started on a ZX-9R and I'm very happy I did, it made me able to instantly switch to any class of bike I wanted.

Bro you literally don’t need to worry about the power of a 600 unless you’re in high rpm.

My buddy has been teaching me on his 650. I’ve gotten pretty comfortable riding it so I’ll probably just get a 650.

i started on 600 having only experience from a 50cc, lmao. Is not the ride, is the rider. Some people are just more skilled and other, feel the balance, feel the grip, feel the shocks if u know none of these things and have none of those senses then yeah better to start ride a car or a bicycle before u hurt somebody

If I own a 50cc should I get a 125cc when I can or should I wait and get a 250cc?

This is for anyone...I'm 41 not a young git lol, 5'10 - 160lbs in shape CrossFit 6 days a week. It is on my bucket list to really learn how to ride and eventually ride on the track and possibly enter an amateur race circuit one day. The only real experience I have was on a Honda Rebel 265 ripping it around dirt country roads a long time ago. I am someone who takes pride and things that I purchase I don't purchase a ton of things they are typically special to me and I take care of them. So my thoughts are, using the technology of the different traction controls and coming up and really just paying attention on my riding going to schools... I'm looking at the z650 or what just came out the new GSX8S as a first/starter bike. Again use the technology learn the bike or myself become a better rider and maybe I upgrade to something like the z900 or maybe never. But I do also want something eventually I can take to the track again to be a better rider. What is everybody's thoughts on these two bikes that I'm originally looking at starting out with? The z650 and the GSX 8S or 8R...

Europeans: 125cc are the perfect bike to start and you can reach enough speeds for the highway and mountain roads, go for it. Americans: 600cc? That's a bicycle!!!
@AVISIONMUSICTV
@AVISIONMUSICTV Месяц назад
No. Start on a bicycle so you can get a feel of the physics. Then a scooter or an e-bike. Then a 250cc, then a 300cc, you can skip 400cc and go to 500cc, then, 600cc and if you got balls, try going higher.

Man, your head is on right. Nice to see such open mindedness and unbiased view given. Enjoy the risk taking, hope your travels are safe and you enjoy this great two wheeled life a long time. I am coming up on 50 in a couple years. Love my WR, my old carbed BMW thumper and VStrom. But the day is coming the kids will be old enough and the wife will start riding with me again and I want to try something new. I imagine the Voyager would suit me awesome.

I started on a 06 R6. No ABS, No traction control, it was just a beastly engine with 2 wheels and a beautiful exhaust note.

It's worth noting where you're from. I see a lot of people from the US say not to, and that even a MT-07 is too much, yet in the UK that's used for your Mod1/2, you learn on that lmao. Downgrading from there makes no sense

I went from 690 Enduro to MT09, the upright seat position is almost the same but the 690 seat was hard as fuck and driving for 6hours straight was awful thus i wanted something a bit more sport toury but didnt wanted to give up on the seating upright position of supermoto and the most comfort in that i found in the mt09
@Soeks77
@Soeks77 Месяц назад
Don’t start on a 600 lmao, UNLESS, you can already ride. If you have rode dirtbikes before, or a manual transmission quad, maybe it’s ok. These bikes are extremly maintenance intensive, which is why an mt-07 or a duke 390 are the better bikes. Not to mention they’re more comfortable and easy to manuver, making it a funner learning experience. Hopping on one of these being shorter or brand new to riding, is asking tocdie
