My favorites in order are: Fatwood/Pine Pitch, Birch Bark, Cedar Bark, Tulip Poplar Bark, and Feathersticks/Grass/Anything fine or fluffy. I carry man made tinder like Wetfire, Fat Rope Stick, Mini Inferno, and Trioxane in my Fire Kit, but I always try to use natural materials from the environment when starting a fire. I also have a small tinder bag I carry to collect natural tinder sources. Great informative video.

I live in Northwest Indiana, so I have the exact same resources. Great video. I encourage everyone to go out and scout around for the natural fire starters in their area.

What I learned from this video. Carry a lighter, because a fire steel as a primary ignition source is less than ideal.

I wish I had Birch tree in my neck of the woods. Is that a Fiddleback Forge knife?

Nice video. I would like to know what you would use to get a fire going in high wind and heavy rain. Thank you.

Same thing. Just find a dry spot sheltered from the wind to place your fire.

Could you please point me to that specific Hidden Woodsman sack that you keep your tender in? Can’t see it on their site. Also any specific recommendations on a lighter? Thx

Ben , what do you think is the better procamptek product - fast-fire , wax-wood or fat-rope ? :)
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 3 года назад
Man, honestly they are all good. If I had to choose one I’d go fast fire.
