5 Neural DSP Metal Tone in a Mix

I was thinking that i'm maybe too much used to Omega, so i wanted to test back some different DSP metal tone and just see where it goes.
Yeeees we all already seen this a lot, way too much people have already done that haha right? But here it's just for fun, for me to check in my mixes situation where i try to improve myself. Fun test can always be cool :)
Obviously i go with a classic metal tone for riffin, you knoooow, and doing it with their build in IR's. So many nasty choices you have, DSP! 💦

Sick riff! Neural DSP seem to have the best sounding plugins. I have tried almost everything in these past two weeks, and I'm pretty sure I will go with them. But I'm still stuck which one to get. I'm kind of turning towards Petrucci, as it has "everything". Maybe not this good for this type of metal thou.

I actually liked the Gojira the least in this video. The fortins sound wicked. Omega is good and Nolly is good.

I honestly think none of the other Neural DSP amps or Archetypes come close to the Omega when it comes to a crushing heavy tone. It's got the perfect balance note definition, but without being too distorted or stringy.

I like digital amps but I find there is just too much delay from when I pick to when I hear sound coming from the monitors… anyone else have this issue and know how to work around it? I have a very good pc and a good audio interface so I know that is not the issue, thanks.

You need to work your latency from your audio card, interface

I know i'm a few weeks late but changing your audio interface type from windows to ASIO and changing to a sub 10MS sample rate gave me zero noticable latency

yeah if you are on windows make sure you are using ASIO drivers for sure. MS times should roughly be at 10ms with those. If they are still high you would likely need to reduce the buffer size or sampling size.

I can never clean up the gojira amp enough its too muddy in a mix but it sounds so sick how do you guys eq it cos i feel like when i try i either am cutting too much or not enough or just not finding the right frequencies to mess with in general I really wanna use this for future recordings I also have all of these and nolly and omega are my current favorites in a mix

First make sure to download the free update to gojira x. Try putting a graphic EQ before the amp to trim lows out of your DI signal. Next turn down the output from default +8dB to around +2.5dB. Then increase volume in the output knob on the amp. It sounds better Ease back the gain. Then EQ the low rumble out and any fizz you don’t like out. Then do a wide cut in the low mid area. 400-500 hz

Yeah the most important thing i think it's a good balance between all instruments, cleaning all unwanted noise and non wanted freq on all instruments. Just that it's most of the good basic work. After that it's détail and i currently try to understand and nailed all that 😁

Oh a big one for me that help a lot is to referenced your track. Grab a ref plugin or just put one audio song that you love the sound of in your daw and try to listen each part and even copying the same tone and feel. I reference all the time 😁

And, be consistent and keep trying. After that when you listen your old mix you will clearly see the improvement! Check one of my sound from 1 year ago, it's so shitty but now it's less shitty haha

I tried and watch a lot video but still can’t figure it out. My tone just sound “raw” and a lot distortion( like a less black metal tone😂) I use dsp gojira Thanks

@@kenwayaiden4535 try less gain and less high in the guit tone. But also try to have a good blend in low for bass and mid/presence for guit. It's the combo that is important 😁
