Hi Rachel. I have been enjoying your videos. I am a Sony astro shooter as well and I have learned a couple of valuable tips I will use for an upcoming trip to Utah. You shared how you setup your custom keys, would you share how else you have setup your cameras? I have a a7siii and an a1 and have been looking for more astro specific camera settings specifically for Sony to shoot the night sky with. Thanks for sharing on RU-vid!

Something on my to-do list. When I can convince the Mr. or the son to come along with me because sitting in the dark, alone, with a camera seems like something I would have done when I was younger.

An old coot tip for those who might want to play around the margins. Grab yourself an old film camera and shoot some color negative or transparency film. With color film the reciprocity failure shifts not only exposure time but also color balance making for some interesting results. Back in the day we had a broader array of film stocks to choose from and could also experiment with tungsten balanced film. Fun times.

I know about stacking photos. But I was wondering about the process of creating the nighttime time lapse videos. Is each frame stacked or just a good long exposure for each frame?
@BandH
@BandH 3 года назад
The process is a combination of both factors really. Rachel also loves the Photopills apps to help her plan her shots out in advance. >Mark

Be Patient. That is tip 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5... Then Be Patient! :D :D :D Oh, and try not to freeze ;) On a serious note, you could add tip #6, look out for condensation. Beautiful photos by the way.

Hi Rachel, nicely presented video. Would you please consider in answering a question for me on this blog or my email, which I can send to you. I am interested in night time aerial photography. Since, I am new at this, I am seeking a professional camera and lens, plus suggestions for setup, and firmware to accomplish, these photo's. Many will be moving vehicals. Was not sure, if this would be practical for a non professional, since this will be considered a hobbyist addition for myself. Price? Let's keep it below ten large. If its not a worthwhile endeavor, because pricing is to low for this hobby, then I will pass it by. Thanks, Will

what an entirely meaningless "achievement" - you didn't even bother to thank the photographer or make any comment about her tips.
