Salut Alice ! As a Parisian myself I would never ever spend un centime on Montale, Mancera and Creed , they are trying so hard to be recognised as niche perfumes . J'adore ton honnêteté .
Thank you Joanna🙏 Montale is too loud in my opinion...I don't know Mancera and creed I like the old one like Fleurissimo but so many guys wear Creed today that it loose its appeal in my opinion...
This was great! There’s nothing uglier than that Carolina Herrera bottle. I couldn’t even believe it was hers… Brutal, but thank you! That was so fun. ❤️
Your reactions lol! I think part of the problem is the kids today don’t know how perfumes used to be made especially in the 80’s & 90’s. This is all they know. Over-priced and underwhelming. The companies know the kids will buy into the hype on You Tube and pay it. Love your videos!
Clearly overrated perfumes... It is a scam at that price. Anyone who love perfumes and quality feel the same... worst part of that they don't know how cheap they smell... I even speak in French in the video... "c'est pas possible"😂
perfumes were ok until 2005 or so then they decimated the base notes Burberry Brit and London were really popular for teens and those are decidedly more complex than YET ANOTHER caramel fudgsicle thingey
@@Aliceinparisofficial they smell like amazon perfumes I buy for the bottle. Like there are some literally in the shape of cupcakes. They smell like that. A plastic cupcake.
This is one of the best parfums review that I saw in my entire life. I really like how honest you’re! This parfumés to me are just money grabbers. I m living in North America and I’m sick to see so many parfum influencers are exaggerating with superlative words about this fragrances to the point they intimidate you even to write a negative comment about them. The Kayali pistachio one has the most exaggerated good reviews and when I tried it , I realized how cheap and synthetic is.thank you for making time and post very informative videos for us!
Thank you🙏🙏🙏 again I am not paid by these brands. I don't judge books on their cover so I went to Sephora to really try before saying it is horrible... There are cheap perfumes that smell horrible honestly so I only judge on quality...I tried all Kayali... It is just cheap and synthetic.. not worth any euros/dollars. It is not even smelling good and feminine... People should be ashamed to say what they are saying about these perfumes because they got paid behind.... the damage is real because they are so many GORGEOUS perfumes/brands that truly deserve the hype!
I’ll say it depends on the influencers you follow, just from reviews I couldn’t purchase the Kayali pistachio, but I’ll say perfumes smell different on everyone and it’s not subjective on how we feel about them.
Hi! In North America when it’s freezing cold and you wear 5 jackets, nothing works except a little loud perfume. Libre light works here for winter. I prefer fresh fragrances in summer. That being said, I’d love to hear some summer/winter perfume suggestions from you!
I have a love, hate relationship with fragrance. Most of them give me a migraine. Loved this review. Personally I’m a traditionalist. I keep buying Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Guerlain Shalimar and Mitsouko and L’Heur Bleu.
Just to add another thing, many reviewers don’t want to be kicked off the Kayali mailing list because it’s so trendy and popular that they are afraid to say anything bad about it. Personally I think the whole house is over rated and have never found one of them that I really liked. I don’t get it. 🤔
I used to be sent kayali perfumes, but for some reason I was not sent the new Pistachio - and I wasn't too heartbroken about it lol. I passed this one along quite quickly:/. Most of the good reviews I saw of this perfume were from reviewers who had had it sent in PR. Almost everyone else who purchased it was disappointed.
It is WAY too sweet, too plain, too fade.... the performance is also so low. There is also a plastic smell to me on the dry down. I don't understand the hype about this brand and I sincerely gave a try. I try every perfume.... no way I can wear something like that. Also it is not the Parisian style. People in Paris don't like sweet cloying perfumes.
I think too many people follow the trends. It’s so ridiculous to spend so much money on a perfume that you haven’t even smelled. Any way thanks for your brutal honesty.
Alice in Paris, you are HILARIOUS. I love your honesty and I don’t even have to try these perfumes to know that I would hate them. Why in the world do they have so many notes?! That alone, was a turn-off. My favorite perfumes tend to use essential oils and accords so all of these would be an automatic NO. I’m coming to Paris next month and would love to know some of your favorite parfumeries. I always visit Serge Lutens but would love to add some more to my list. Thanks again for your honesty. Don’t change a single solitary thing❤
Unfortunately today the parfumes of Serge Lutens are a pale copy of what the used to be, the smell stays on you for about 10 minutes then it's all gone... I use my very old bottles from 20 years ago and they still smell like heaven !
@@autumnautumn5200 I take public transport to work at 7.15 am. I board the train with at least 5 girls wearing this every morning going into the office. I am surprised i haven't passed out yet!😂
YSL Libre is a lavender remake of the earlier, discontinued YSL perfume Cinema (2004) an almond based sweet floral from the Tom Ford era of YSL. Both are fragrances the actual YSL would have never released as Y, Opium and Paris were among the best examples of their respective genres. Maybe it's because of public taste or banned ingredients, but I am not sure if it's possible these days to create a nut based fragrance that's also elegant. No matter what they all seem to metamorphose into some form of perfume diabetes. It's really hard to create an elegant gourmand, so chapeau to Jacques Guerlain achieving that over a century ago with L' Heure Bleue.
Great gourmand not cloying perfume from Guerlain is Champs Elysées. I just discover this one and I really really like it, especially the dry down… they are discontinuing Cinema… last TF area for YSL so it is over now
The last decade of great perfumes were the 80's and to some extent the 90's. After that comes an epic flop.I love Guerlain vintage, l Heure Bleue is a bewitching fragrance. Even watered down they are still masterpieces.
I agree. Give me a good high quality white or yellow floral fragrance any day of the week over these. I love Joy by Jean Patou, Songes by Annick Goutal, Fracas by Robert Piguet, Amarige by Givenchy and many others like this.
Next time Alice could you make some better suggestions in addition to the critique. For example, the pistachio, there has got to be a better pistachio out there. Maybe you could lead us in the right direction.
When you started reacting in French to these perfumes, I started giggling. Great review. I don’t like Good Girl, YSL or Kayali. I am a Dior girl. But I do like Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Parfums De Marly, especially Athalia, not Delina. Athalia is a beautiful incense/ powdery scent. On my skin , Athalia smells amazing.
Need to review and try Maison properly and also parfum de Marly...Dior girl forever. My signature perfume is Diorissimo but I LOVE the monsieur dior collection 💖
@@Aliceinparisofficial, Diorissimo will be my next bottle. Dior online sells both the EDT and the Eau de parfum. I am not sure which one to get; may be both😉.
Hi Alice! Can you explain how it is you like the smell of aldehydes, but not other synthetic scents, such as those found in Libre Le Parfum? This concept is very interesting to me, because most Americans dislike aldehyde perfumes. These cultural differences are really fascinating. Also, why do you dislike Baccarat Rouge 45?
I don't know maybe it is cultural or the nose. Not everyone like aldehyde and I find american prefer sweetness. I need to try Baccarat again but I was deceived
Gabrielle by Chanel is wonderful on my skin and what I’ve been wearing in the daytime for the past few years. Before that was Romance the Ralph Lauren, the original and I still wear that now and again. I appreciate how honest you are and share your love for all things that are that classic French aesthetic. There are so many clean, elegant and fresh perfumes out there but sadly some ladies feel that the louder and sweeter the scent, the better.. They don’t realize that it’s vulgar and offensive to the nose. And on the brutal part, one never wants to be gratuitously offensive , but you are only saying aloud what so many of us are thinking.
I listen to "influencers", but I trust my own nose. That Kayali is AWFUL. I feel a lot of people don't speak the truth so they will get free bottles. The Libre was also awful. I haven't liked any of the perfumes in the shoe even though I think it is adorable. I tried the new Blush.....yuk. I've tried every flanker of Angel because I want a star bottle, but haven't liked any of them. I won't try that Blue Dylan after your reaction!!! My recent purchases are Caron Aimez Moi, Hermes Un Jardin la Cythere, Goutal La Violette and Carthusia A'mmare, but I'm not an influencer and no one listens to me. 🤣
Loved this review and your reactions are the best! My favourite parfum; YSL Rive Gauche (oldie but goody), Chanel COCO Mademoiselle & Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey (cologne). You have a new subscriber.
Interesting, all I can smell in Pistachio Gelato is the lily of the valley, which is a note I hate with a passion. As for the plasticky note, I have found that oftentimes it is the note of rum which gives of that kind of smell. There are exceptions like Gourmand Coquin, Ambre Narguilé or Tabac 28, for example, but most of the time, unless it's an extremely well crafted perfume the rum will smell very synthetic and plasticky. Also, I totally agree with Good Girl's bottle being incredibly tacky and even if the perfume inside was amazing, I wouldn't touch it with a ten feet pole (MAYBE if it was really amazing I would decant it or keep it in its box, but it's not, so I'll never buy it).
Ugh, I agree about Libre. I bought it and cannot bear it now. I have been a Guerlain girl for most of my life. I adore Jicky and Mitsouko, in particular but I have Shalimar and Samsara, and I like their Oud. Thank you for doing this. I imagine somewhere you have a video on your favorites.
Refreshing! I like your blunt reactions. I had never understood why influencers promoted Libre and Good Girl. I hate all the iterations of the former and the latter makes me gag. What do you think of Hypnotic Poison EDP and Versace Crystal Noir. These killed me at the first sniff.
I only buy 3 or at the most 4 fragrances. I repeatedly buy Passion and Eau de Charlotte from Annick Goutal. A recent one I like is 24 Faubourg by Hermes and Jean Patou Joy when I can find it. I absolutely hate the fruity/melon under smell of many new ones. I have no idea what that ingredient is, but I can’t stand it.
I have had nice perfumes de Yves Saint Laurent in the past, but you are right about LIBRE , I have got a bottle 150 ML!!!!!!It was a christmas present and I spray in in the bathroon after being on the toilet.. .(I hope my husband will never read this coment:)))))))))
I love your uncompromising review even if it's "ouch" for me with Libre Le Parfum which I love. Do you ever look at Fragonard? I have a few & really enjoy them. Hugs
I’ve been waiting for your review of Fragonard fragrances. I was at the factory in Grasse several years ago but the tour did not give me the time I needed there. It’s impossible to find these fragrances in New York.
Libre is an absolute assault on my senses and I am a perfume lover and collector and this one is just a NOOO for me lol, It's like a perfume extract factory exploded and didn't land well lol. I also truly dislike Super Gorgeous by Michael Kors, equal assault on senses. I'm obsessed with all things pistachio but I have yet to smell that one lol. I do like Dylan Blue as it develops but it's not something I'd wear every day. The bottle looks like something that would be from Victoria's Secret. It all depends on how the scent reacts with your chemistry, but yes, unfortunately a lot of fragrances today are synthetic The Lady Million bottle looks like a Man's cheap cologne bottle like from a dollar store 😅
To each his own. I wear Libre and get a ton of compliments on it. Perfumes react with your own chemistry. What smells good on one person doesn't work on another.
yes Kathie but there is something I truly don't like in Libre (perfume version) maybe thr EDT is better...I just can't even smell it....The old YSL were so much better
@@Aliceinparisofficial liver has like four versions, I think you should have been precised on what you hate. Libre isn’t my first pick everyday but to me it’s a beautiful fragrance especially the Intense
Je suis tout a fait d'accord! Some bad creations! The worst perfume I ever smelled was beyond paradise by Estee Lauder. I almost pass away😂... I would love to see a video of strong still fresh summer perfumes that last in the heat!
I was also so disappointed to smell the Kayali Pistachio Gelato perfume, there was so much hype around this perfume before it's release and when it was released and I finally went to smell it at Sephora, it literally smelled like TOMATO JUICE to me I was so disappointed, I really tried to love it because it like also like pistachio and the mint packaging was so cute
I love your taste in perfume, very elegant and classy. I agree that a lot of modern perfumes smell horrible and so many you tuber's hype them up. Thanks for being honest. 🙂
Thank you thank you for your honesty. So many reviewers praise Libre and I never did understand why. I also dislike Good Girl. I haven’t tried the others but now I must!
Curious to know what you think of Fragonard! Love if you did a video on them 😊I like Fragonard’s perfumes and they smell more natural to me…I felt like Dylan smells very tacky and Kayli also very cheap!
I was privileged enough to meet the perfumer at Fragonard in Grasse. I was told most ordinary people can not smell more than four elements in a perfume. I always thought I had a keen sense of smell. Today, I challenged myself (olfactory system at least!) and ‘compared’ YSL Libre to Coco by Chanel. You’re correct - YSL Libre is a hot mess. It’s a disgusting, sour, artificial concoction. Taking it a step further Parfum De Marly - Delina is equally dreadful. It is so artificial. I do not understand the fuss. I would interested in your view ❤
Omg Coco vs Libre… Coco is such a great perfume…. At least it smells good!!! I need to try Delina honestly because everyone is asking me what I think. I will purchase their discovery set
@@Aliceinparisofficial perhaps your nose is more discerning. However Delina in my opinion is a miss. The lychee blows your head off and is so sour. I live in Australia so finding fragrances for summer is a challenge!
Have you tried Libre Homme that came out like 5 years ago. It was a horrible synthetic mess, but a lot of people liked it. Unfortunately a lot of people don't know what great perfumes of the past smell like. Give me Guerlain Jicky or Caron pour un Homme. They smell so much better than any modern lavender fragrance.
It’s funny how you pronounce “I hate this perfume “ with a silent h so it sounded like I ate the perfume:) I know that in French h is silent. I agree with you - all the mentioned perfumes are bad
Hi Alice! I love your reactions! 🤭 thank goodness, I don’t have any perfumes on your list! but I have the YSL Libre Intense and EDT and I love them! Stay amazing! Hugs from Seattle USA 🤗
I don’t think AliceinParis likes any of the Libres. I like all of them. 😊 YSL Libre EDP smells like lavender to me. It’s a synthetic lavender, but it’s lavender nonetheless.
You truly are a French girl ❤. Love your authenticity and candour. I’m not a fan of any of these scents either, even though I know many love and enjoy them a lot.
I ❤ your reactions 😂. Your taste is so elegant and you are the only revier I trust buying perfume. Not that others are not hones (I can not say that) but your taste maches to my own ;). Once again it was stuning to see you testing those little disasters 😅.
hello I think you know the answer... they don't disclose and they should disclose when they receive the product and when they are paid to review it. There is NO WAY you can sincerely said that Pistachio Kayali smells good. It is an insult to the perfume industry....
Hi Alice. Have you heard of the perfume brand BienAimé1935? Are their perfumes worth buying? I'm sucked in by the bottle. it's really beautiful, but there are not many reviews online. Thank you.
I agree with you a hundred percent! Most of these perfumes after a few minutes all smell of either vanilla, oud, or musk! And I too hate sweet and cloying perfumes! 😊😊❤
Totally agree. Especially the Dylan Blue I don't get, why this is so popular and why it was even launched. I like the bottle, but I agree that it smells very cheap and artificial. I have shower gels that cost less than 1 EUR that still smell better than this.
I see you have cacherel noa behind you, this is a very underrated scent which is so lovely and affordable🤍🩵 when I smelt MFK BR540 or ysl black opium I start to gag 🤢
I love this review!! I just happened to be shopping today and did some fragrance sampling. No offense to those who love these fragrances I am going to mention. You may dislike what I like because it's all a personal opinion. Libre Intense and Pistachio Gelato were icky but the one that made me ill was La Vie es Belle (Iris Absolu) It was so sweet and grossly strong. All of the flankers of La Vie es Belle are sickening to me. Super sweet and sugary do not work for me.
Exactly!!! La vie es belle in my opinion are not elegant at all . TO me they’re a sweet/patchouli unpleasant mixture . I forced myself to like least one of them because of the parfum influencers great reviews which are exaggerated of course . I even bought one 🙁 and I can’t wear it that’s how bad it is for me
It is not bad but I would not wear it. Too basic too sugary and too cloying, I like more gourmand complexed and sophisticated perfumes. Champs Elysées by Guerlain is so much better for example
Thank you for your helpful videos! These may be difficult questions to answer but here goes: my grandfather has a diary entry from 1944 when he said he walked up and down Rue de la Paix and smelled Perfumes. Do you know of a store that is still on or near that street that he may have gone to? Or just a perfume that was available then and now? Again, I know these are difficult questions but I thought it would not hurt to ask. Thank you for your time!
Yes it was Volnay perfumes I believe. They were in Rue de la paix. They are still here and they are still making perfumes. I will make a video about them
I happend to have sample of Libre by SLP at home and I don't think it's bad, it's more unisex than female to me but not anough man for me to ware it. Now this is a genuine question not ment to offend you: Do you have some expetise in parfums other than being a shopper and user?
Merci. I loved the video. I agreed with you. I once found a perfume in a charity shop called Nantucket briar and I loved it. I wore it constantly it was so good only to find out it was discontinued. I tried to find it on the internet but was dismayed that the ones that were left, the owners wanted £200 per bottle (used) I still have a few sprays left but would love to get some one to clone it. Have you ever heard of it?. It's by Crabtree& Evelyn. If so what did you think?
I myself gave a similar review to the 1st disgusting mess although I am English & Celtic. Don't worry though, I speak fluent French & my Fiance is part French, I understood exactly what you said🙏🇬🇧
@@Aliceinparisofficial Agreed. Where I live, i cannot even test it, as non of the Kayali fragrances are sold in stores. Thanks once again , regards from Cyprus
As-tu essayé la version de Libre en EDT? C'est beaucoup plus frais et on sent la lavande et la vanille d'une façon plus subtile. Il faut aimer les gourmands, bien sûr 😉
Libre, Good Girl, l'Extase by Nina Ricci, La Vie est Belle, Idole by Lancome make me gag🤢... sadly we're living in an era of perfumery where everything in fashion is suffocating and sticky sweet🤢🤢🤢🤮 I'm not french I'm russian and I'm sticking to my less popular favorites - Beautiful Day(before reformulation) -Castelbajac, Krasnaya Moskva light, Aura - Mugler edp and Cavalli Nero assoluto.
Alice I have been watching your videos and I have been enjoying them all! Especially what to wear in Paris! When I went before Covid I wore Chanel Suits during the day and chic cocktail dresses for evening! I went in September! I love this video because I share the same thoughts on perfume as you do! I love Chanel No 5 and Oscar de La Renta and even Rumba but the young women of today want to smell sweet like candy and if you wear Chanel No. 5 they think you smell like Grandma (old lady)! I have a friend who is not young and told me she hated my perfume (Chanel No. 5) and told me her favorite perfume was Dylan Blue Versace! She said it smells rich. So I bought it and only wear it when I am with her! I also think it smells like cheap shampoo! Keep doing your videos your marvelous! Pink Champagne Kisses! 💋💋💋💋🍾🥂
Dylan smells so cheap...omg better to smell an old rich lady then a cheap young one :) Chanel smells really rich because it smells clean and "propre". Stay wonderful
Someday, the grandchildren of the women wearing the overly sweet candy-like fragrances will think of them as “granny scents”, because that’s what their grandmothers will still be wearing, as they started wearing them in their youth, the present day.
@@autumnautumn5200 The perfumes were invented to cover the hard unwashed human body odors at the royal French courts in 16th, 17th centuries. These are the historical facts.
Only the hair perfume is acceptable.Used v lightly but I did like the idea of it, so generally wear Givenchy Live Irresistible Rosy Crush, layered with a niche Rhubarb parfum, & perhaps a none cakeshop vanille lotion. A v expensive one. That gives you what Delina was meant to be.1 spray of each though, tops🙏🇬🇧
I agree Alice, Good Girl is very linear from the top to the bottom notes, but the only one I would probably wear among all the other ones mentioned in your review! 😉
I'm pleasantly surprised to see that most of the comments here are agreeing with you because these are fragrances that I've never "gotten" in bottles that look horribly tacky. I'm doubly surprised that I haven't seen a comment yet defending that ugly CH high heel as "sexy!"
1 million is a men's fragrance that has different notes than shown in the video. You showed the notes for the Lady Miliony perfume. Did you mean men's or women's perfume?
