Indeed, the bimbo look with duck lips and fake lashes looks cheap EVERYWHERE not just Paris! I don't understand how women cannot see how bad it looks on them.
Ok maybe something controversial about what I’m going to say. Seeing the Kardashians looking and dressing that way carrying a Birkin has just killed the Birkin for me.
Hi Alice! Thank you for another video about class and style. I think here in the states the Kardashion influence is still at its peak. With their implants, fillers, tacky clothes and cars they are the epitome of trash. It is so refreshing to hear good manners. I hardly ever get a thank you these days. We need to educate our youngsters on how to be polite and kind. Always enjoy your videos. Please give your little dog a kiss from me.
Alice would you kindly make a video about tying a scarf? I think a lot of us admire how Parisians wear scarves but don't quite know how to pull it off. Love seeing how you tie your beautiful scarves and wear it so well. Thank you very much!
100% agree, except sweet perfumes. IMHO, this is a matter of taste. Montale has lots of perfumes smelling like a high-end bakery or sweet coffee and they are just fabulous. I like those, they make ME feel good, raise my dopamine and serotonin.
Every year we take a road trip in the southeastern US. I always pack blouses, skirts and capris. It is always humid, but I am always comfortable and still have some pride and respect myself.
Bonjour, Alice. C'est vrai. I wholeheartedly agree with you. An elegant lady is discreet, respectful, naturally beautiful and well behaved in a graceful manner, hence she gets admiration, not attention. Merci 🤍
Thank you Alice! I TrueType love your tips. They are so useful for many many women. It’s both for french women and women from other countries, who wants to visit Paris or move to Paris. ❤
Hi Alice! Right on point 👏👏 very needed video. Thank you. May I say, you look absolutley perfect today 😍 high class and elegance! What a pleasure to watch you 🌹 Have a lovely weekend, Joan
Honestly, as an American of French descent, lifelong New Yorker, I agree with almost everything you said here. It must come naturally, be in the blood. I can’t stand the trashy, plastic, and vulgar influencer look that Miami and LA have popularized and exported to the world. I can’t stand logos, monograms, or advertising of any kind on clothing or accessories. Even where I live now you almost never see women dressed like that, except maybe in a club, and obvious plastic surgery isn’t so common either. Where I might differ with you is in the area of casual wear. I have my own personal style and it might not be acceptable in Paris, but if I’m comfortable in sneakers and cargoes with a nice T-shirt on a hot day, I won’t be switching to a flowered dress and heels. That’s what I’d wear regardless of style guidelines. And although French style recommends this, I can’t stand jeans with heels. Jeans are a rugged item, the origins are American farm wear, overalls. To make them tight like leggings and pair them with heels is a total turn off, very square and corny to me. Some Americana styles are cool, gritty, inventive, and real and belong in the spectrum of meaningful fashion choices. I wouldn’t want to be bullied or peer pressured into a homogenized concept of fashion. New York, London, Milan, and Paris are all fashion centers that I draw from. You are so right about the fragrances, though, those cheap fragrances are sickening.
Well put!❤ Actually I did not see many French ladies wearing heels at all. Some young women 25-35 occasionally , but no stiletto . Models during the fashion week , yes!😊
I read that denim was invented in Nimes, France, and the word denim actually was derived from the contracture of the words “de Nimes”. : “Denim was invented in the French city of Nimes, where tailors began weaving cotton together in a unique way, in which the weft passes under two or more warp …”
Great video. Thanks a lot pointing to brhavioural aspects too. What you explained is valid for every where ,all artifitial behaviours, looks, beauty adjusments are tacky every where.❤
Another GREAT video Alice! Thank you for creating this channel. I especially love listening to you. My maternal grandmother's name was "Alicia" and she was French too!
You are so right about smoking. I’ve never smoked. My sister has smoked for 50 years. Her skin is sallow, her voice is raspy and her skin is so wrinkled it looks like cracked earth. Someone once thought she was my mother but she’s only 18 months older than me. Plus my Mom had almost no wrinkles, even when she died at 70. Don’t smoke!
Alice, these are all things that were once taught to young women by their mothers! I learned how to behave, dress, and look at a young age. Looking elegant and classy starts young, but can be learned at any age, fortunately. Thank you for your videos, Alice.
I find most of the things you mentioned as a sign of having an education & manners. Leggins - I only started wearing these when I started running. I will assume that if I decide to run the marathon in Paris then that won’t be considered out of place (not that I would care in the race) 😜
hi alice, yes, everything you said made sense. i highly doubt people will be removing their fillers to go to paris though... it's an entertaining thought!
inside out beauty products, diet, skincare protocol, home treatment, spa treatment (coming on my channel), vitamins, NO SMOCKING, SPF 50+ when going on the beach, SLEEP, HEALTHY life.
The Bimbo look is a big No everywhere! Unless your work involves street-walking at night! It’s also unsafe, the worst creeps target women they think are prostitutes because they think that no one will miss them! How wrong they are. My heart goes out to anyone forced into that life, I believe the vast majority are.
This should apply in all countries. Except Hollywood and California in general where "plastic" is fantastic! .....😂 The Kardashians ruined the asthetics of women....
Merci Alice. If only people would be more Parisian. It's all outdoor or sport clothes in too many places these days. Incidentally, what would a Parisian wear for walking in the mountains or on a long haul flight?
Pow, your videos, wonderfully put together: A treat for the eyes and soul ... 😇! Every few days a new one. How do you do this, there's so much to do ... 😅? Uiii ... smoking .. would Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir still feel comfortable in Paris ... 😂🤣
@@Aliceinparisofficial Yes, very fast ... 😅. Sartre often went to the Café Flor. Does it still exist? There was/is a Sartre breakfast: a black coffee and a Gauloises (without filter) ... 🤣 ...
Thanks! I’ve been watching your videos and I’m loving the Parisian style and I’m currently changing my wardrobe 😉 please do more videos on how to dress like a parisian 😊 also, is skinny jeans still on style there or just straight leg jeans?
@@rozyreyes It depends but generally more slim and straight jeans. Skinny is great according to your body type if you are very tall and skinny. Personally I find slim jeans greater on me, makes me taller and slimer. I will do video about to build your wardrobe.
It really surprises me that people don't know how to behave in other countries. It is so easy to learn how to blend in with the local populace that it is truly lazy and ignorant when people don't do that. I have lived in Geneva, London, and Sao Paulo and I could tell the tourists (especially Americans), immediately. In fact, in Brazil, natives can tell Americans just by the way we walk. We are the worst at learning languages and local customs. It is a real shame and embarrassing too. Ugh!
not only tourists but more the trashy trend of the young women generation, very generational today. But I noticed that some american are a little bit like you describe!
Bonjour Madam Alice. May I know what does lady Parisian wears in the summer time? Will be visiting in Paris in July and just wanting to make sure we are wearing the right outfit. Thank you.
I dress pretty conservatively and don’t think sexiness has anything to do with showing excessive skin, but I hate the fact that men think it’s their right to give women “bad attention”. What does that mean? Is it a red light for men to accost women on the street? 🤦🏾♀️
I think you should dress appropriately and accordingly to the place and context. Half naked in the street or metro is just odd and dangerous. When I dress sexy for a night out or very expensive I take a taxi and usually it is for a private event where I know I am safe...
These guidelines would be common sense if people would practice more self reflection. Too many people here in the USA are consumed by how they compare to celebrities and reality TV personalities. It’s pathetic to see women, young & old, chasing these self indulgent fads.
Hi Alice! Thank you for the interesting video. but absolutely no woman in Paris uses foundation? After all, all luxury French brands have at least a few in their portfolio, so who buys it?
@@Aliceinparisofficial between BB cream and foundation is sometimes a very thin line, it's just a definition. And I think that mature 50+ women are a very large percentage of the Parisian and French society, unless you're making content only for young women, then I understand. I think that we should avoid generalizing, then the content will be fuller and cross-sectional. Btw. I really like your video about vintage perfume. Thank you!
@@annaaya6104 Anna it is not generalizing if you live in Paris long enough (downtown)you will see that Parisian don't wear foundation, It is not the style. They will go for expensive skincare products and treatments and strike for the perfect natural skin goal. It really depends where you live in Paris but 8th and 16th has older people while 17th or 9th is much more younger
@@Aliceinparisofficial thank you Alice. What about eyeshadows, asking from curiosity. I know you don't like it but is this popular look? I would be very interested in watching videos about Parisian make up preferences. Thanks!
This is what I've noticed as well. I've been to Paris, I have family there. Everyone smokes! My aunt and my cousin smoke heavily, I get the impression they treat it as a diet to be slim. It is very sad...Also my cousin wears strange and tacky makeup.. 😅
I thought parisian woman like and use lots of makeup as it's always said everywhere that Paris and Milan are capitals of fashion etc, so it seemed to me it should be the rule that fashion, shows, make up always come together 😮😮😮
I can’t stand all those sweet, spicy, fruity or herby, food-smell perfumes that everyone is wearing here in the US. I don’t want to smell like someone’s breakfast muffin, I want to smell like flowers. I can’t find a single floral-scented body wash anymore. Anais Anais has been my fragrance for more than forty years, I’ve never found another that I love even half so much. It is just The One, I knew it at first sniff. Sadly, Cacharel long since discontinued the layering formulas, like the lotion and powder, in this fragrance. I miss them so much, especially the shower gel. The French make the best perfumes, having the flowers to use, and the expertise and experience of hundreds of years. Cheap perfumes from elsewhere are made of chemical “analogs”, they lack the complexity and subtlety of genuine flowers. (I include grasses, leaves and other plant ingredients in “flowers” here).
Unfortunately, IFRA regulations changed which perfume ingredients are acceptable and which are no longer. Many natural ingredients are now banned, unfortunately, only to be replaced by their synthetic (and inferior, IMO) substitutes.
Amiga , nada ni nadie merece ser tratados mal y mucho menos cuando vas a gastar dinero en algo. Siempre y cuando no perjudique a nadie . De hecho donde peor atención como visitante he recibido es PARIS , Milán , Roma y Madrid
The meanest people in France are the French. I spent a month in paris recently and would comment how wonderful people were and was told by employees the French are the worst. Also more people were smoking than not. I stayed by the St Honore street Hermes store. I loved it and felt I could live there!
I need to learn how to speak French fluently and move! Here in the States, the bimbo aesthetic is almost celebrated. I find it incredibly vapid and vulgar.
Oh, for heaven's sake. Who cares if you are carrying a fake bag? Nothing is more lame than caring about something like this. I refuse to believe that Parisians are this uncool. I lived in France for years and it was a wonderful experience for me. I always felt welcomed and comfortable, even in Paris. I hope people watching this will not believe that Paris is such a snobby, uptight place.
@@Aliceinparisofficial You care, hun. Speak for yourself. You're ruining the reputation of your beautiful city. No one who watches your videos would want to visit such an uptight place. And it isn't even how you portray it. Sorry to be honest. Adieu!
too much filler looks cheap and ugly. Natural beauty is the goal and always win. Parisian do fillers but it has to look extremely natural. It is not worth changing your appearance if it is to look cheaper and less beautiful that you were before. Girls do that for the wrong reasons. Needless to say that if it is for a man, extremely successfull ones (real successful :) don't date this type of woman. I know it for a fact. Maybe for an other video
BTW, most Americans do not like the Kardashians or aspire to be them. They are watched for their entertainment and over-the-top value. I literally live in a large, affluent city and have never seen anyone with the fillers you show. Not a single person. Or with the level of makeup you show. Or wearing the clothing you show. Literally never. And I am out and about at luxury place and not so luxury places. Good manners are so important and most Americans of a certain class use them. I am sorry you feel the need to school all of us on these things. Please do not judge us all based on a tv show or a few clueless ones. I do think Americans are loud and should turn the volume down when visiting France. Other than that, can we please be less judgey?
Hello did I ever say "American" unfortunately what I describe is very very popular among the young women generation. Except extreme and private luxury places (aka membership) it is very common. I travel nearly everywhere, I stay in luxury places in LA, NY Paris London and it's what I saw. I did not put pictures because it is not allow unless I blur faces. It is not only American it is worldwide
@@Aliceinparisofficial Judginess is also unattractive. I travel extensively and have lived around the world as well. Not sure what you consider "luxury" places so perhaps that is where the disconnect is... LA is another world and, yes, full of trashy people. Any other city will have those people but in higher society and establishments, not really an issue.
@@annbressie8615 Beverly hills hotel, Ritz, Connaught, The battery in SF or Ritz Carlton, The Mark in NY, Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico, 5 stars or palace places ect some membership only places are considered luxury. Matignon paris, L'Avenue, Costes in Paris others so called "expensive" places are full of trash. I consider luxury when it is high quality service and not open for everyone.
Oh my goodness. Parisians are smokestacks…literally everywhere. That is where Americans definitely differ positively. It kind of cancels out the elegance. Otherwise, the tips are entertaining and helpful.
Girl please. EVERYONE smokes in Paris. Everywhere. I also saw lots of long acrylic nails. Sweet, cloying fragrances are all the rage there, just like everywhere else. La vie est belle, Libre, and Black opium galore.
I don't think she meant to be disrespectful. This happened because English is not her first language. And I think "professional hooker" is not disrespectful.
