I absolutely love the vintage botanicals and definitely need to to utilize this resource more! Thank you! ❤ New subscriber here! I am a bit turned off of POD but i still like to watch design videos and such to use to make my own physical items. Its just what feels right to me! I tried POD and basically lost out on money. I dont feel right jacking my prices up so high just to make 15-20% profit. I rather invest in the equipment to make them myself and make like 80% profit. I know alot of people wont agree with this lol 😂

Yes making physical products is much more work can be very lucrative, absolutely!!

@@zenwatercooler it really is hahaha 🤣 but I love when I make something physical so for me it's worth it! It's rewarding! But I have also had people tell me they love my designs and would love me to sell them digitally so it's something to definitely consider ❤️

I love your videos and you are a gold mine of information on public domain resources, and I thank you for that! It may be too late to post a question on this video, but here goes - I want to use these types of images for print on demand wall art. I have a million questions, but the most basic one for me to start with is this - I've seen some beautiful images, but the scans may be under 1000 x 1000 px. Society6, as an example, lists a 7200x10800 px requirement for their largest canvas print. What would be the lowest scan size you would use, either for that size or smaller? I have a lot to learn and only know Canva right now, but there's no point in even practicing with an image that's too small to begin with (not to mention that Canva only goes up to 8000 px but that's a whole other issue).

Yes great question - I try to shoot for a Merch by Amazon size like 4500 x 5400 pixels and ideally 300 dpi. There are different ways to upscale images - this video could be a good place to start: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NstpSOmamd8.html

@@zenwatercooler That was fast, thank you! But I reread my question and I don't think I was clear - I meant the scans from the museums/books, etc. that you download to use. For instance, the colorful Anne Pratt basil you showed in this video is only showing at 557 x 650 px and 96 dpi when I download it, and the other basil page close to the same. That seems pretty small for even an 8x12 in/2400x3600 px print, but again, I have a lot to learn. Maybe it would take a more advanced technique with a Photoshop-type program that is beyond Canva's capabilities and mine. Is there a minimum size of these online images that you wouldn't even try to work with? I hope that makes more sense.

3 of your videos in ~ amazing info! Thanks so much ~ question? Can I download these images & upload to kittl? Not techy at all , learning
@zenwatercooler
@zenwatercooler Год назад
Great question, yes you can! In Kittl, there is an option in Elements to upload your own images so you could do exactly that and then incorporate them into a design that you make.

Presumably you up the resolution in Photoshop or somewhere as it's too low to use for POD as is.
@zenwatercooler
@zenwatercooler Год назад
Yes I typically use Photoshop but you could use Inkscape, Affinity Photo or an online resizer too.

@@zenwatercooler, do you mean use an "upscaling" software? Is photopea good for free background removal software? Many thanks for the guidance 🙏❤

Great videos... Thanks heaps for what you do :-) A question please as I'm a paranoid freak with the possibility of t shirts being printed pixilated haha! I'm used to vectors in Illustrator! Do you just enlarge the public domain png's in Photoshop and add elements etc then save as png from Photoshop to upload for print on demand? Cheers heaps... Eg: Enlarge to 4800 x 5400 300 dpi... I know the png should be high quality to start at 300 dpi
@zenwatercooler
@zenwatercooler 4 месяца назад
Yes the method you describe would totally work. Just upscale it in Photoshop and for the size of a t-shirt, it most likely will look great. For a really huge scale-up (like wallpaper or a huge poster) it could look fuzzy. There is also a great free upscaler that uses AI and I have found the results are awesome (this is from my other channel): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bn_N6pvy8PU.html
