I believe that’s five more reasons to buy a Road King Special! There is a bike for everyone, my preference is old school riding. No computer, no distractions, just wind and road! I have a 2021, coming off a 2003 Road King, nothing purer then a Road King! Ride safe brothers and sisters!
Exactly! I have a removable batwing fairing that is just wind protection for long trips. I love having no fairing, but I live in Kansas, so wind can be an issue.
Although I have a Street Glide, the Road King will always be my favorite Harley. Specifically for some of the reasons you mentioned. It forces you to get out and enjoy the moment and unplug from the world.
Roadking is a King 👑 Why I love mine: More wind ✔️ More View ✔️ Retro ✔️ Classy ✔️ GPS my phone already has it ✔️ Music my Sena or shockwave has it ✔️ Fairing removable ✔️ Comfort ✔️ I'm just getting old and prefer less as I age 😆 🤣 😂 Plus you have a King and i like the upgrades you have done so far and waiting to see more done ✔️ 😊 👌
The stock seat is WAY more comfortable than the Saddlemen or Mustang I put on it. 2,500 miles one trip on the stock seat, sold the others. By far the best no frills Harley in the lineup.
I have a Road King Special and some of your points are very valid and a few are totally subjective. I put a 2 into 1 on mine but I don’t mind the look. It is crazy that they could put a charging port on softails which aren’t really long distance bikes but for some reason they decided road kings don’t need one which are longer distance bikes 😂I like the stretched bags but like you said it’s not for everyone. For the extra cost they for sure should throw a windshield in. Also lack of auxiliary lighting may be another reason but the idea for this bike is as clean as possible. And on the price that depends. If you are set on a road king and already know you want to murder it out, you’re going to spend less cash buying the special than getting a regular and tricking it up. The regular road king is better for just crushing miles. So all depends on what you want and what you are looking to do. And no one will argue that the special just looks so clean and nice.
I was thinking more a king the lines of my 1k trips in a day. Useful to have a charging port during those times. I don’t really have bike nights where I live. Just differences in riding
I ride an RKS (after a new Sportglide for 4months) and is much better for me. No backpain, more fibration due to 1 counterbalance axle instead of 2!). A windsplitter screen from HD is perfect and less buffeting than all other fairings! USB is mounted in a few minutes and the streched bags are beautiful with my Red Thunder Exhaust System!!
Road King is the KING...It's a pure Motorcycle no extra crap...Long trips just add the plastic windshield or if you have money to burn buy a detachable batwing....I don't need to follow the crowd, don't want a pile of shit on the bars...In town the fairing gets old...The only music I need comes from the exhaust.
I have a 2017 and I have two different wind screens for it. I don't listen to music and the style of the bike out ways the negative points. I agree with the price it's two much when compared to the other baggers. If you like the look the Road King standard is a much better buy. The price of new Harleys has gotten out of control to me. Baggers at my local dealers are 30000 plus fees. There are a lot of new bikes sitting at my dealer. I think it's just to expensive for the average person.
I went from an Ultra BACK to a Road King Special (Snake Venom) for those exact reasons. I explain it like this “I went from OPERATING a bike to RIDING a bike”.
All the things you mention are the reasons I DID buy a RKS 🤣 I'm not a fan of windshields or fairings, I prefer freaking with the extra wind so long as it's smooth air and not turbulent. I've yet to ride behind a fairing or windshield of any kind that didn't cause buffeting... I prefer the dual pipes... And the gauges? That's really remedied with an aftermarket gauge that shows everything you want and looks cleaner than all the gauges on the other touring models. Plus I only have to change ONE gauge, and it completely changes the look instead of having one gauge look different or having to change them all.
Actually have a full video about 10 reason to get a road king. And like half of the things I said in here, are also in the reason to get the bike video. It’s all on the persons preference. These things were just me really trying to find the flaws in the bike. Sorry made if it made you feel like it wasted your time. But all I was trying to do was potentially bring to light the potentially weaker parts of the bike.
6. Don't get a Roadking because it doesn't have a/c. 7. Don't get a Roadking because it doesn't have surround sound. 8. Don't get a Roadking because it won't carry your whole family. 9. Don't get a Roadking because it can't win a motocross race.
I feel like these are some of the most petty problems.no wind protection, no charger for phone, no air conditioner will be the next problem and then where is my swimming pool too. This bike needs an outdoor pool. It's a motorcycle it's all about the ride and the feel and if a person needs "wind protection" just get a damn car because a car has all those commodities for the regular joe that don't love a good old classic looking motorcycles like this.
😆 R.K. is the base model in the Touring lineup, you get the riding comfort of the frame and suspension without spending 50k for the top models. HD has coices for everything in between. Most folks who buy R.K. either like the bare bones or they prefer a custom thats all their own and not factory fresh. If you want all the fancy, snazzy doodads and extras, you move up the model line to Street or Road Glides.
Sorry, but this shouldn't be a video of the 5 reasons not to buy an RKS, but the differences between it and a Road King Ultra or similar... and the answer is: Style. You often give up some comfort items in exchange for a motorcycle style that best suits your profile. As I don't like the "Chest of drawers and Dressing table" set (rear trunk and fairing, respectively) I found my right size at Road King Special... But each with their own style...
I think you stated all the obvious reasons why a Road King is different and not any actual problems just differences. Your video is misleading and a waste of time. People who buy Roadkings buy them for a reason.
Not that Im planning to upgrade from my Dyna to a Road King Special anytime soon...but thats the plan in maybe 5 yrs. U had me scared for a minute...but everything U listed...I have plans for. Plan to build it out club style like my Dyna...which is the whole point why I want the Road King Special to begin with.
Your crazy. I got a Road King Special and i got al i need. Al the things you where talking aboud like the windscreen - usb charching ports - even the exaust. I all bought it and did let it placed by the Harley dealer from the time that i bought the motorcycle. When your in the position to buy a Road King Special you will also be in the position to add all of those things to the bike if you wanted to. When you ain't in the position to add all of those things becaus it's to expensife then you realy should't had to buy a bike like that in the first place. And aboud the seat . I did a trip that lasted 18 hours. No pain at al. And i added 2 usb charching ports to it from the time i bought it but i stil diden't use it. I just got it incase i need it.
The windshield is less than $400 from Harley and aftermarket even less. But I wish you could get one for 26K total as he says in the video…. Dealers now are jacking these up thousands more.
The price here is GameChanger the road glide at Street glide is the same price of Road King if the price same I go for the fairing we will get screen with full entertainment system
I own five bikes. But I’m not a Harley guy. At all. However…. All the reasons you list are exactly why I am all of a sudden looking at one ! They had me in mind Not you.
With respect, you totally miss the point!!!!!. the five reasons you give for not getting a Road King are exactly the reasons why people love the RK. A great bike without all the bullshit.
Dude, you look so concerned about your complaints. The Road King has been out for years, so those riders that prefer them already know what separates them from other Harley Davidson touring bikes. Nope, it's not for everyone, just for those that like this type of experience.
Don’t want no faring don’t need a radio Don’t need a navigation system I like the road king special because the front end is opened up So I can see better iv try all the other bikes and just don’t care for them I’m old school and my pipes are music to my ears A motorcycle with all that crap on the front is useless to me Just buy u car and be done with it JUST MY OPINION ✌️✌️✌️
Dude what you are talking about are the things you get on other tourer. Buy a street glide or road glide then and leave the Road King for people who wan't the Wind and aren't bothered with Navi/Radio and so on
hey the one reason that you listed not to buy a rks that pisses me off also is no windshield. I know they want to make it as clean looking as possible, but damn its a road king. that and the price. lol.
Trust me. I get it. I’m all for the no full fairing. I just put it in there because I know a lot of people want the fairing and it can be something that holds them back
Thumbs down, go buy a street or road glide if you want the extras. This bike is built for riders who want to ride and have the experience of the original ride. Open space and the wind !!!!!
