Awesome video and explanation of this terrific pedal, I've had this pedal one week and didn't realise its true versatility until your video, thanks so much for sharing. I now see this pedal in a new light!
As it’s digital I would love to see boss release a plugin version of this pedal too. There are already a few available but the real deal would be better. Would save hooking it up for production off pedalboard then
Yeah, an officially licensed plugin of an RE-201 would be cool, however I would expect Boss/Roland is perfectly happy to stay in the "devices" market, and leave the plugins to plugin experts who already have good re-201 emulations, like the UAD Galaxy Echo, and the Arturia Tape Delay-201. Keep in mind that building software for a DSP-based pedal is a VERY different skillset than providing an installable plugin that has to work efficiently/consistently across a diverse and unpredictable set of machines that also happen to be running other software at the same time.
about the reverb it's not easy to change from one mode to another what does the expression pedal lead to? you seem to discover the age tape function and wow and flutter, in addition this emulates the RE 201 type of echo only. showing different styles of music would be great, no-one does
Interesting, yeah for the most part those were the actual levels I had set. However it definitely matters what you have before and after it in the chain, as well as how hot your pickups are. At the end of the day, just make it sound good with your setup!
@@EricSauerets thnx for your reaction Iguess you are right. Still working on it, the multi delay settings are not very helpful not really intuitive. Wish they had a dottet 8 note setting instead of mostly unusual head combo's
That would be cool... I find I don't switch reverb types very often just because its buried in the sub menus, but having them front and center would be nice!
Volante and El Capistane were both on my list when looking for this pedal, and honestly, the "newness to the market" of the re-202 was also a factor. No regrets though, it sounds great and makes me happy and play differently
