What’s put me off from Louis Vuitton is that they seem to have no appreciation for long time customers. I bought my first Louis Vuitton in 2002. I have never had an SA interested enough to stay in contact if they are still even employed by Louis Vuitton. I can go into a boutique and it feels like going into Walmart. The SA’s don’t seem to care about maintaining customers, the company knows they don’t have to do anything to keep people coming back, and even if you order online, it’s a miracle if you ever even get a perfume sample. I’m sure they roll out the red carpet for customers spending $100k a year, but that shouldn’t be the case. For someone who has been a steady customer for over 20 years, no matter if I spend $5k or $500k, they should have some appreciation for loyalty, and they don’t.
And customers in general. I’ve been a customer for about 15 years and I’ve never had an SA offer me a business card. I normally have to ask for it, which is bizarre. I’ve also had noses turned up at me while shopping. I always present myself well, so I’m not sure why.. Maybe because I don’t spend enough. I like to spread out purchases. I buy from the brand because I like brand heritage and how carrying one of their bags makes me feel, not at all because of shopping experiences. This is an unfortunate necessary step because I like seeing what I’m buying for the most part in person because of ongoing quality issues :-/
Still an LV fan here. It’s just much more my vibe:) I’m a beach girl at heart and Chanel and Hermes are a little to formal for me. I think now days you have to be picky no matter what fashion house you shop at. It’s just a sign of the times;)
Ah, for me Hermes is so causal, kind of picknick, out and about vibe. ^^ ( not talking about exotic, scarf and jewelry but the more regular everyday bags)
Totally agree on poor quality of LV these days. I bought a speedy 20 years ago and it's fantastic. I haven't bought anything from LV since then and decided to treat myself this year to a bag. I bought Alma first and it was faulty so I returned it. Next, I bought a city keepall and had to return it too. Finally, I took a leap for Alma Nano and unfortunately had to return it as well. After that, I gave up on LV. Last Tuesday I went to Hermes and bought Bolide 1923 30. It's completely different class of a bag. Exceptional quality and no logos whatsoever . I know I'll have it for many years to come.
I think the fact that they put that warped Dauphine on display just slows how sloppy and lazy they have become. It’s become like fast fashion and everybody has LV now. It’s really a bummer because I loved LV for a long time but I don’t feel excitement about their bags anymore.
I bought a key holder from LV a year and a half ago. It’s warped, the canvas is cracking, the glazing is wearing off, and the button closure is partially broken. Yup.
I’ve gone off LV. Aside from the SLG’s which I do think are worth buying, I don’t see myself buying the bags. The new stuff they’re coming out with looks tacky and cheap. I agree about the canvas, it does start curling up at the corners. It also cracks. They have out priced themselves. Just not feeling Louis at the moment.
When I first started buying Louis Vuitton in the late 70s, early 80s, the quality was fantastic, and the prices weren't stratospheric. You could pay $200-$400 for a bag from the sac de ville range, which was a lot back then, but they were very sturdy and lasted for years. It wasn't until the early 2000s that I started seeing the quality really decline. I bought my last LV in 2006, and still have it. I did sell several of my vintage bags, and still have a few left, the oldest one from 1987. I won't pay thousands for something that looks and feels cheap.
I’m over LV don’t really buy anymore But I have the dauphine and mine is about 5 years old and looks brand new. Maybe the hot lights in the window warped that bag.
LV giving me DH gate vibes now 😂 oh no. I’m just so done. Personally for me it’s back to basics: coach, longchamp, even kate spade lol. In the end-I’m not going broke over any luxury, let me save my money!!!
I have also quit buying LV. I sold everything except a few SLGs and my vintage Amazone bag from the 80s. I bought the Palm Springs mm and it took 3 times to repair the same thing, then I ended up with a credit and bought a Pochette Métis which was poorly made and the lock mechanism had to be replaced as well as some stitching repaired. It made me so irritated I sold it, because no bag should be that problematic after only being worn 1 or 2 times. I’ll stick with my Loewe, Hermes, Bottega and for contemporary I love Shinola. Their leather is unbelieveable.
I agree with what you are saying! However I still think Hermes is ugly and granny. Also, I’m not a fan of leather so that limits me. Keep up the good work Jessie!
Always a great video from you! I’m not obsessed with LV as I once was…I certainly have some great vintage items, and I enjoy them!!! I haven’t purchased any of the newer collections at all.
I would like a little variety in talking about luxury. Im not trying to offend anyone whatsoever, but constantly talking about Hermes is a little repetitive Yes the bags are expensive and made with beautiful leather. But lets be honest, the price is jacked up for the name which to me is ridiculous I to am fortunate to say I can buy an Hermes bag if I like, but to be honest I’d rather buy 2 designer bags in its place. Love you Jess and your lovely personality. Keep up The good work!
My experience with LV left me with such disgust. I brought in a compact wallet which is no longer available to get restitched. Besides the loose stitch it was in good condition. It stated so on my receipt. Dropped it off in January/23 was told by the SA who was texting me everything was good to go, they'll keep me posted and let me know when it was ready. Reached out to the SA in July, was told they're still working on it. Reached out in September no one knows what's going on with the repair center. Basically found out in the middle of October that my wallet was compromised, they didn't have any idea how, I wanted it back but for whatever reason LV couldn't do that. So now I have a measly LV gift card, there's no slg that compares to the small size and capacity that my slg held. Why would I want to invest money into a company who lied for months and their items seem to need to be returned or repaired constantly. All they're concerned with is making a sale no matter the quality. Btw it was the very cute Helene wallet that was "compromised"
I have had my LV Dauphine MM for a year and am so worried about the sides curling. I used it a lot lat summer / autumn (will use it again as soon as it gets a bit warmer) - so far it looks perfect. I use the middle section only to open it. But I agree - the one on display looks terrible!
I have a LV vintage speedy 25 that I love ❤️ I still look for vintage pre loved pieces but have not bought any new LV. The quality and price don’t match up
My few Louis Vuitton pieces are in perfect shape. The older ones are superior. All these design houses are getting silly. Even Hermes with the silly charms and twillys. Chanel with the tacky jewellery. They’re all the same. I give up.
I love Louis Vuitton but the quality has gone down and I think they’re trying to find a new type of customer bc they’re loosing a lot of customers to other brands. They’re trying to keep up with the higher luxury brands as well. It’s sad. 😢 I’ve been in the preloved and vintage market lately than the new releases
I recently found your channel and i’m enjoying it so much. i’m an LV lover but I’ve had my eye on Hermes… actually, I bought my first Hermes piece today - a Calvi in Rose Mexico. I want a garden party or picotin next. I LOVE the bag chase , so I think Hermes is right up my alley. I haven’t had too many quality issues with recent LV, but it’s true it’s not up to par with vintage pieces. just things like a strap keeper randomly falling off my PSM after three wears, etc. all of the fashion houses jumped the shark with pricing. i’m returning the LV camera box bag next week because even though it’s adorable and I really like the style and size, I cannot pay $3,600 USD for that bag. I just can’t do it.
I'm not into being a billboard for logo mania for ANY product, so I'm collecting some vintage LV in Epi leather. Thus far (over the past five years), I've gotten some nice pieces at VERY reasonable prices, and there is only ONE very discrete logo on those bags. I'll continue on my merry way. I just cannot bring myself to pay elevated prices for coated canvas with their logo emblazoned all over the item. The vintage Epi leather caters to all my preferences and sensibilities.
That Dauphine is horrendous. I’ve had things sent to me from boutique that should never have been sent as they were so bent out of shape - as was I when I received them. Louis is my first love but I don’t buy lots and going forward, I’ll probably buy even less. Hope you had a great holiday!
I bought a pair of sunglasses from LV. It’s pretty. It was so expensive. I don’t think it’s worth that much. When I told the store that the glasses were abit loose they basically asked me to go to a regular spectacle shop to fix it. Never considered LV since then.
I buy LV vintage limited edition Speedys. That narrows it down a lot and the quality especially during Marc Jacobs and early Nick G is amazing. But I get what you mean! Love your channel and happy you had a fabulous time in Japan. ♥️
Great video Jessie! I love LV, thank god I can’t afford it because I’ll be spending frivolously. Yes, I agree Hermes is much more exclusive and better quality. And yes there are many other exciting brands to be had. It’s sad LV has marketed their brand this way, they could’ve done better.
Thanks for the video, very informative ❤. Agree with you 100%, too many releases, so common. Just to share my experience, I actually have excellent product experience from LV. I have been buying LV for 15 years, all items I used in the rain, sun, which I really did not baby them. They age beautifully, no cracking, no curling, I am beginning to think they are indestructible.😅 The gold hw not tarnished. I have bought a bag years ago and within 1 year (not use that bag more than 4 times max) the corners worn off. One day, I bought a dress from LV, SA asked me if I am interested to buy a bag to go with my dress. I told her I won’t buy any LV bag anymore because of that bag I bought. She told me to bring the bag back (I didn’t think anything can be done after 1 year of use 😅), the staff were very good, gave me a voucher in full cost of the bag, I used that immediately 😂😂 to buy another bag. Another indestructible bag I have used. I have not bought another one since, only because I have not found one I really like. I like my Chanel and Hermes, I really hate the dots designs or some other painting designs. 😊 So, no more LV for me just yet.
I’m sneakily picking up cheap vintage lv canvas bags that I’ve always wanted and are like $300 now. And they’re better quality than what’s in the store now. It’s wild
Great video! I still love LV, and I guess I’ve been lucky to get good service and not have any quality issues. The prices are crazy, but that’s all the fashion houses these days. Buyer beware ♥️
LV's quality, much like Chanel's, has been going downhill for years. I won't buy them at this point, as their prices have gone up for product that doesn't have the quality. A pre-2000's LV cost a lot less and the quality was excellent.
i wouldn't buy l.v. strictly because of the price. they also know that canvas will curl, yet they insist on selling it! if it's a throw away bag, then price it as such. i've bought jacquard totes with zippers, at the dollar store, that stay in magnificent shape despite repeated heavy usage. c'mon!
“This is completely normal” What?!! No, fix the canvas. I can see a preorder for the $1,000,000 bag, but for a strap??? Uh no! I agree that it should be guaranteed if you put the deposit! The preorder makes them seem like they have met or exceeded quarterly expectations so their board can be happy. They can always revise the estimates the beginning of the following year. Ahh! I agree that fakes devalue bags and LV should be more angry. I no longer look for their collections, but I wouldn’t be averse to someone buying me a few 😅 Fun video💃🏿💃🏿
I can’t shake LV. It was my first luxury crush, and I can’t let go of the nostalgia (well played LV on the denim reissue). That being said my new instore purchases are few and far between, and I inspect them with a microscope (never had to in 2000😞).
I had to say i would file a police report to get my money back from LV, that put me off unless there is something very special and not too expensive because the preorder feels scammy, i suspect they earn interst.
Agree! I’m still on New LV Pause. Don’t foresee Louis quality/customer service/prices improving anytime soon, so… As we’ve discussed, these brands have learned that if they do the LEAST (for customers & employees), they still make MAX bank. Not surprising they slack off now in every way. Still disappointing though! I still look at some LV preloved; I like the older/heritage styles most anyway!
Some new styles tempt me, usually the fanciest limited editions, but as you said they’re here & gone too quickly. It’s just as well! When I contemplate spending in the $6K+ USD range, I just don’t gravitate to new LV. 🤔
A couple of Hermes bags are cute but too many it kind of starts looking like a grandma 👵🏻 Sunday bag. I like versatility because to be honest…handbags are not a great investment. I buy mine to use as them.
as I see it, I want to sell my LV... I got tired of monogram.I see now that is it for people who want to buy their first luxury item and want everyone to know it, for people who pretend to lol
Completely put off. Its my opinion they over saturated the market with too many releases. Wish they could keep the classics and limited seasonal releases. They should limit the amount of bags they produce What is the point of pre ordering bags that will be overproduced few weeks later? Im done with lv! The last bag i got was a limited edition petite malle and not going back. Im sick of the monogram. Can’t even look at my monogram bags. Just want to get rid of them. To make things worse a thread on my graceful strap broke!
Oh no, that dauphine! Looks like it was put in a microwave 😅 good reason to rethink spending our money on these frivolous things 😊 (says she who is sucked in)😅
Look the way you treated your louis vuitton bag horrible. Never see person use luxury bag like you. Sorry but you been funny talking about louis vuitton quality. I been use my luois vuitton canvas 15 years still look beauty.
