Why "everyone" is on an Hermes journey✨... 

I just cant play the game. That doesn’t appeal to me. I have the money why do I need to jump through hoops? Too old for all that. I prefer Bottega - high quality and extremely versatile.

You totally hit a point Jessie, I’m at a point where slow feels good. I’m done acquiring bags super fast, waiting for my Hermès bags to come is not even frustrating for me. I’ve never been really into trendy bags , but I’ve got what I wanted from LV, Dior and Chanel. I don’t get pull in back at all, I look at the new bags with no desire of owning any of them. With Hermès, it’s fun to just wait not totally knowing where it will bring me. Maybe I’m just different because I know how so many get frustrated with Hermès, but to me, at this point, entering a boutique and getting whatever I want is not even fun. 😂 That being said, I’m older and well established and my style is pretty much set up. I know all my Hermès bags get good use, because they fit my lifestyle and aesthetic perfectly. Actually I’m in the process of downsizing my collection, and today I let go Chanel and LV bags. They are just not me. I won’t sell them all, but I keep only the classics of the classics.

I agree with you 100%. I think most luxury handbag collectors will eventually buy mostly Hermes. I feel like their bags are just timeless! You looked lovely by the way!

I am actually tired of poor quality bags so I am choosing to only purchase Hermes right now. I do not have a boutique closer than a 5 hour drive so I will buy what I can online and search the preloved market for treasures🖤

Gosh I agree with everything. But my problem…. Hermes is not my style. So many pros …I’m so into leather and quality. Hermès hands down has the best leather . But my favorite bag style is the Chanel shoulder bag. I’m really tall/ thin . I can wear the classic flap or reissue bag, Crossbody shoulder crook of the arm. I just love the chains that take it from one easy bag to another. Alas, I still love your channel

I really considered going on an Hermes "journey" but the issue is the prespend. Aesthetically, I like Hermes but I find a lot of their products don't fit my lifestyle, especially the ready to wear. I can't see where I can purchase enough to be considered for a bag. I love jewelry and luxury watches. But again their items are not appealing enough or don't fit with my life now. Which sucks because that's a category I could definitely prespend a lot in, especially watches. And not to be snobby, but I would rather buy other watch brands instead. Just me. I just came to the sad realization I won't get a Birkin from the store. Maybe pre-loved but I am weary of buying online.

I’m still personally not on the bandwagon of playing games with Hermes. I don’t mind being expected to wait, as long there is certainty at the end that I get what I expect😅

I agree with a lot of this! However, I have to mention I very rarely see people START with hermes - it usually is after they have already built up a sizeable collection of other, more fun bags that they love personally that they then start with the hermes "game" for the cache/investment/status

As for hermes being such a safe investment that will continue to rise in value forever, I am not so sure. Bags have become a " thing" so the old ones are still valued especially if the models are still being produced. But people may get sick of bags altogether (maybe because of superfakes or just change of style and technology) and then the market will be over flooded and the value may go down. If it is the hype that is keeping its value you need the hype to go on and no hype ever does

:) I have an Hermes scarf and two of their Kelly belts. I loved the experience of getting my orange box lol. I absolutely love my Hermes purchases but probably won't be getting a bag - we'll see. If the right one comes up just maybe. I totally get why folks love the brand and the aesthetic. Not for everyone for sure but it really holds its own as a leather goods brand and beyond. I think no one dislikes the principles of “reliable as a rock” and steady and timeless and relevant. And these are basically valid for Hermès bags. Even though the B & K exist for such a long time you can rely on them as they have been proven to be timeless & still relevant… when in contrary if you look at certain bag styles from other brands they are linked to a specific period. Like LV Murakami is so Marc Jacobs or the original Saddle bag is so John G. … even though these items find attraction again due to the vintage trend they have a time label on them. Where as with B&K no one could distinguish if your bag is from 1990ies or from last year. (Except some geeks who know exactly which color was made in which season). But I have to say due to high presence on social media and if you are living in bigger (posh) places you see B&K all the time. So at some point one thought LV is special and suddenly everyone is walking around with LV Monogram… and at this point I see so many B&Ks on the streets similarly they don’t feel special anymore to me. Only if it’s a rare one like Cargo, Croco, HSS… that’s SPECIAL but the same bag in different colors and sizes has become so common. Even though the access isn’t easy it feels like every second person is carrying one (in my city). I wanna have B&K myself too but only a HSS or a style that isn’t made anymore like HAC 32 for example.

I used to love Gucci and LV until i saw it on everyone! I sold all of it then i started MY hermes journey. I only waited 3 months for my kelly. Spend in the store is 1 to maybe 1.5. We didnt have a store before but ive bought a few items onlime amd other stores

Jess To me Hermes speaks of beautiful and well crafted classic bags that will stand the test of time. We enjoy the bags cos we appreciate the labour of love of such bags by artisans. Not every artisan is allowed to make a Birkin or a Kelly cos the leather materials used is super rare and expensive. I will never own a Birkin or Kelly in my lifetime but I can only appreciate the beauty of it. I never consider Hermes to be an investment cos it is easier to make investment choices in other areas like real estates and regular investments which over time with its compounding interest can generate and build your financial reserves. I do enjoy listening to your take of your Hermes journey though.

I like the attention Hermes pays to art. They’re always releasing scarves featuring unique art, and their a Tokyo store has a wonderful art gallery. They really are a classy business 😊

The issue is more about all the other bait one has to get just to get a offer. The resale mrkt maybe not be flooded with Hermes bags BUT it is most definitely flooded with all the BAIT people are trying to off load since they really didn’t want it in the first place or have multiples bc they were on said journey. Its nice to have a few of them but does having only one brand and one style really give personality? Having a mixture of bags and brands bring life/energy.

I think with all the luxury houses raising prices so high, I think people prefer to invest their money in quality pieces and if the price is so high everywhere, might as well invest in a piece that will go up in a large way. I started my Hermes journey with low expectations and eventhough I prefer to buy pre loved, the prices of the Kelly that ai want are 2.5 times as a new one so I prefered to put my wishlist at the boutique and if I get offered the bag, awsome! If not, that's also ok I think that we are always evolving in terms of personal style, so my collection includes a bit of everything, so I won't feel like I need to buy a new bag all the time woth the excuse that there is a gap in my wardrobe

I think there’s an eventual move for most to an H journey. However, I think some of the attraction is because it appears to be the most popular brand with the “in” crowd. I don’t think one of the reasons is because people are wanting to get off the hamster wheel of purchasing luxury. With the “journey “ they still want you to buy stuff to get the main attraction. I personally like the look of the B and K. I like some of the other styles from the brand, including vintage/discontinued ones.

I eant the bags from Hermes that don't get a lot of attention. I just love the suttalty of the. Like the Picotin , Garden Party Tote and the other leather one with the H lasered into it. Can't remember the name.

Question since everyone is always talking Timeless bag” why is Hermes the only one people think expresses timeless? To me the major attraction to hermes is the fact that they are hard to get. It’s not even the price anymore it’s more bc it’s limited. If it was more available would everyone be so over the top with hermes. They would still produce the same quality.

I love Hermes, I prefer the simple classic style. But I am really tired of the constant conversation about bags being investments and that being a big factor in why someone will purchase something. They are frivolous things to be used and enjoyed, you want to see your used bag? It shouldnt be expected to be worth what you paid for it or more potentially! I think that significantly destroys the idea of what luxury is.

Many years ago, a Kelly and Birkin 35 is highly popular and now nobody really wants that size. Pls don’t think that your Kelly or Birkin 25 is popular now and the price will go up more. Next time they come out with a birkin 15 or 20 with strap and your birkin 25 is going to lose its value. It will happen, trust me! So don’t ever think that your bag will increase in value, it’s naive to ever think like this.
