Mr. Henderson is right when it comes to family and people we thought we were close to. I had worked abroad as a teacher for seven years and came back to the US four years ago to be near my family. I had brought with me my wife and daughters who are from the Philippines. It has been a struggle these past four years as I realized that I had the same relationship with my parents and brother when I lived near to them as I did when I lived on the other side of the world. We saw each other rarely, and they could not provide any emotional or actionable (taking care of the kids, etc.) support. We would just talk every couple of weeks. We can talk on the phone. I don't need to be near them. Well, I have decided to move to SE Asia. We will have better support from my wife's family. Plus we'll actually be able to save money and provide a better future for our daughters.

For those thinking of Florida, I just had my hurricane damaged roof replaced two weeks ago. The hurricane happened last September. I may be finished all repairs by this September. I love it here, but it isn’t cheap and there are plenty of dangers. A guy taking a leak behind a bar because the bathroom was full just lost his arm to an alligator in my town last week. A friend of a friend was bitten by a rattlesnake while taking photos of flowers in a state park. She almost died. This happened last month. Food and clothes and other items are more expensive. Insurance is more expensive: car, homeowners. If you don’t own your house outright, you need to make great money because rent is high. Wages are lower than other states and benefits frequently aren’t offered. If you are thinking of moving to SW Florida for the sunny beaches, so is everyone else in the country. Building has skyrocketed the past three years. Most of the beaches are small, with small parking lots that fill up by 9am.

Left the Northeast nearly 20 years ago, New Jersey to be specific. There were many reasons we left but costs were the number one reason. I went to a state that offered 20% of the property tax cost, 25% lower cost of living, half the cost for a house, the lowest utility cost in the nation, cheaper insurance costs and lower food costs. Our careers would have paid maybe 5-10% more if we stayed in New Jersey but we could easily live a far better life in a different state. In 2010 when we built our house, our builder was at that time building in 25 or so states, the same house we built in our state ($425k) was over a $900k build in New Jersey with a 20k a year estimated property tax, I pay almost 4k a year in our current state.

I moved from Mexico to Dallas, I think American people doesnt appreciate the opportunities to make make money they have in the US, yes its true is more expensive than undeveloped world, but in echange of that you have lots of banks willing to lend you money to make business, also plentiful number of investors willing to invest in your company or deals, there are many ways to pay 0 taxes if you know the law, real estate is a very easy tax free avenue. Im in the real estate development buisiness and I can tell you there are like 20 private equity funds in Mexico (no more thatn 10 are actively investing), i mena in the ENTIRE country, in DFW alone there are between 200 to 300, while in Mexico there are 50 banks, only in texas there are houndreds of them.

So I decided to make a plan to make it to the US, and made some research for E2 visa. Decided to apply with a construction company/RE development business plan, sell my house in Mexico and bought a heavy equipment in the US. I thought they were going to reject my plan but they didnt. Yes there's a flow from high expense states to lower expense areas. But there's still a flow into those high expense states too to get high paying jobs. I moved to San Jose CA as a software engineer because I could earn a lot. Yeah houses were expensive to buy, but also appreciated a lot too and my job more than covered the difference. When I'd earned enough I retired at 45 and moved to Phoenix. Now 20 years later I'm planning to move to SE Asia. There's really not much reason imo to stay in a high expense area other than for a high paying job. Plenty of cheap places in the world that are fun.

I suppose if I was extremely wealthy my sentiment would change however I am personally willing to pay a little more on taxes if it means a log cabin home in the mountains on 20+ acres.

The lawful governance was never reassembled and instead the globalists replaced our government with a Scottish corporation United States Inc. This subsequently transitioned to a papal legal fiction. The Old World aristocracy enslaved the U.S. with the Civil War. It was never about slavery but about States rights. In any case, the Constitution was a delegation of powers to the Federal government which was actually just a contractor hired by the States. The Americans have been entirely duped and turned into corporate vassals. You must correct your status to a State National, then for example income taxes no longer apply. E.g. if a person grew up on a farm, it's very likely they'd have shared experiences with others (around the world) who have also grown up on farms than they would with people who grew up in major/mega urban environments where they've (potentially) never even seen a cow in person.

Families of means are arriving daily in Miami and the trend shows no sign of slowing. Yet, despite this, many American citizens seem more and more drawn to the idea of emigrating to Latin America, probably for a myriad number of reasons but cost of living and perceptions of freedom seems to be chief amongst them at the moment. Perhaps capital is simply moving across the globe due to a general sense of instability or economic malaise? Puzzling situation, I’m not quite sure what to make of it.

@FunDuude
@FunDuude 2 года назад
what the folks that move to Texas don't understand (most of them) is that YES you pay less for a house but what they don't take into account is that you Pay MORE in Property Taxes on the value of your home. So Yes the homes in CA are more but the taxes are less. A 800k dollar home in Tx cost you on avg 20K+ a year in Taxes (without Exemptions), and it just keeps going up because they keep raising the value of your home every year. There are so many WELL established neighborhoods in TX, for some reason their value keeps climbing EVERY yr by $35-50K. It's ridiculous. You see in Texas ONLY property Owners Pay Independent School district Taxes known as ISD taxes. So what happens is: City property Taxes get added to County Property Taxes which in turn are added to ISD taxes, in the end you're paying between 2.40% - 2.62% + on the value of your home in Taxes EVERY year. So when you're house is COMPLETELY paid off and you live, in a 500K home, you'll still be paying close to 15K in taxes a yr. Oh and don't be late.

@8:53, “is there a TGIF in Paraguay?” Yes, but not necessarily by the same brand. Satellite communication, internet, air travel, and global brands have homogenized the experience of people living many major cities. For example, you can order your favorite beer, McDonald BigMac, Pizza Hut, Netflix’s movies, and other familiar stuff whether you’re living in NYC, London, Paris, Berlin, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, or Tokyo. The only difference is the tax.

Quality of life should be discussed more. If you are only saving a few bucks here and there is it really worth moving to Texas or Florida for example if you are indoors all of the time because of the oppressive heat? You have to have money to live a good life in Florida, Texas you still need a good amount of money but not so much. It's also a culture that takes some time getting used to, some would never adjust. I'm talking open carry of guns, religion, and in your face racism. They casually throw the N word into everyday conversations to the point where I've had to say "Just because I'm white doesn't automatically mean I'm a racist!". If you are retired why would anyone move to either place? I moved to Mexico and the weather, people and food are more than enough for me to be happy and content and my health care is not something I'll ever have to worry about. I really like not feeling a need to pack a gun just to go outside for a walk. It's a family oriented culture, where people aren't wrapped up in politics and children still laugh and play in the streets. Whole families go out in the late afternoons to the city plazas for socializing, tacos, music and dancing into the night. "Wait up for Gramma to get ready!"

Also tax rates are totally uncorrelated to personal happiness. Denmark and other Scandinavian countries year after year score highest in personal happiness. Opportunity for business is amazing here, cost of living is minimal and i can still get all my boujee food and supplies in town. Only downside is that if you don't take any self sufficient initiative then the power grid is pretty fragile and tornadoes are a real threat.

When you read a book like "The End of the World is Just the Beginning" by Peter Ziehan, and you get a glimpse as to what is coming due to demographics, food production, de-globalization, re-shoring, financial collapse (just look at Turkey's inflation, the farmers in Holland, Italy's PM stepping down, Sri Lanka's president bolting out the back door, Boris J resigning, Russia/Ukraine war, Canada turning into a dictatorship, WEF trying to align the new world order, etc. - BTW Europe is f-ed except maybe France), you are not looking holistically at the future that is coming rapidly - where the US is no longer going to protect the global supply chains of everyone except Iran, then you are sadly mistaken by "where I am treated the best". Shit is changing quickly, and thinking that you are going to thrive in EU or Dubai, it's nonsense. The countries who will survive the next fifty years - USA, Mexico due to it relationship with the US, Turkey will be the top dog in the Middle East, France due to demographics and location and food growth, Japan in the Asia region. Do some learning on geo-politics and demographics as this world is changing rapidly.

Don't waste your time moving from one deck of a sinking ship to another. Sure, it's a lot dryer on the bridge deck now but the whole rotten structure is slowly going down by the head so if you're going to escape... escape, and be done with it.

Texas is similar but with a diversity of different threats with tornadoes, hail storms, hurricanes, and floods.
